A.A Fellow Citizens,

As promised, I present you with the first weekly update of Foreign Affairs. Those of you who are active in international politics will already be aware of a lot of the events, even so, I will try my best to cover the essentials for our newer citizens and explain along the way. The topics I will cover today:

1. Alliances
1.1. CoT
1.2. TWO
1.3. EDEN

2. International Affairs regarding ePakistan
2.1. ePakistan & Alliances
2.2. eIran-eTurkey Agreement

3. Changes in eRepublik
3.1. New Map
3.2. PvP
3.3. Other

1. Alliances
I noticed that a lot of our new citizens had a difficult time understanding what the Alliances were.

And I completely understand because its overwhelming of you haven't been playing the game for long.

So! I won't be discussing any of the disbanded Alliances; only focusing on the ones existing at the present. Each of the main alliances will briefly overview their current members and policies regarding ePakistan and the eWorld in general.

1.1. Circle of Trust (CoT)

CoT was officially formed almost 6 months ago on eRep day 1,676. It originally included Bulgaria, Chile, Switzerland, New Zealand, South Korea, Peru and Paraguay. Showing that though they were weak individually together they were more than equal to the challenges they faced.

Their Aim: Fighting only for CoT or exceptionally for other friends and allies. They formed a Charter between the member countries and gave an introductory Article.

Their current members include:
Belgium
Bulgaria
Switzerland
Chile
Republic of Macedonia (FYROM)
Indonesia
Mexico
Republic of Moldova
New Zealand
South Korea
Paraguay
Peru
Japan

Pakistan is neutral towards this Alliance.

1.2. The World is Ours (TWO)

This alliance seems to be a resurrection of the The Order of New eWorld (ONE) Alliance which died because of its ineffective HQ. ONE was formed by Poland, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Hungary and was later joined by UK, Slovenia, Indonesia & Macedonia.
As you can see by the list below, most of these countries came together to sign a Treaty forming the Alliance, TWO on Day 1,839, just a fortnight ago!

Their current members include:
Hungary
Poland
Serbia
Spain
UK
Slovenia

Pakistan is neutral towards this Alliance though it has an MPP with Serbia.

1.3. eRepublik Defence & Economy Network

The longest lasting Alliance in eRep so far though it's demise seems inevitable. It was officially set up more than THREE years ago by the formal signing of the Treaty of EDEN by Croatia,  Finland,  Norway, Poland,  Romania,  Spain & Sweden.
The most recent signing of this Treaty, interestingly, did NOT include the eRomanian CPs signature though they remain a member.

Ireland, after being a member of EDEN for a year and eight months, leaves the Alliance. The reason given by their current CP, The Psych0, being:

" In my opinion people are dissapointed with EDEN, that’s not because EDEN is in hard situation now, that’s not because our alliance makes only 30% of damage, it’s because our alliance is not the brotherhood it used to be, not a true brotherhood. Members of EDEN are fighting against eachother, we are not focusing our damage in battles that are crucial for EDEN, there is a serious lack of communication and biggest of all problems, lack of trust between EDEN countries as well as HQ is obvious "

In one Article, posted about a week or so ago, clearly outlines the weak points of the Alliances. Highlighting the fact that most of EDENs members are under occupation and that it's damage is equivalent to that of TWOs. The article ends on an encouraging note but it is just simply the last few weak flailings of a beached whale.

Another Article is a little less forgiving and more blunt of the failings of EDEN saying:
"EDEN has ceased to represent the values of brotherhood and team play and it has grown into a facade serving the interest of a few."

It is clear to see that EDEN reached its peak and now it must fall face-first into a pit of its own making...

Their current members include:
Republic of China (Taiwan)
Turkey
Italy
Norway
Greece
Argentina
Israel
Netherlands
Albania
China
Croatia
Romania
Bosnia & Herzegovina
Ukraine
Portugal

2. International Affairs Regarding ePakistan

2.1. ePakistan & Alliances

Pakistan is neutral as far as Alliances go, though the support of EDEN in the eIran-eTurkey Agreement seems to back us in a corner.
And considering we had a NAP with China, another EDEN member, their signature on the Agreement seems to be another push in hostility towards us.

2.2. eIran-eTurkey Agreement

A few days ago I wrote an article framing the agreement between eIran & eTurkey for what it was: a hostile move against ePakistan.
And many eIrani's commented saying that we had interpreted the situation wrong. So far so as the CP of eIran saying that they were trying to protect us.

Well. TheJakal gave an appropriate reply to that. If they wanted to 'protect' us they should have, at least, had the courtesy to inform us before making such an agreement.

But they didn't. And comments such as this:

By an Irani citizen who is in high standing and long-acquainted with the eRepublik:

It is obvious that these sentiments of being 'brothers' were nothing but a ruse. That most of the comments of friendship were made by congressmen and Senior officials seems like the Government wants us to believe one thing but it's general population believes another.

Confused people, it seems. Or very cunning.

3. Changes in eRepublik

In the Official eRepulik Meeting held in Bucharest, Romania, held this year, several interesting changes in eRepublik were discussed. The main ones, ive outlined below.

3.1. New Map

A new non-flash map is being incorporated, it will become a tool of eRepublik. A citizen could see all ongoing battles and have the ability to see specifi details of any area and details on how long it has been under occupancy and by who etc.

3.2. Player vs. Player

For those who are new, the current War Module is designed so that in the Battle  mode you fight against the computer or 'the wall'. However, in the suggested change, after a few fights in any battle you will have the option to go into player versus player mode (if there are active enemy fighters fighting).

This gives the war module and exciting new edge as you could be going toe to toe with legendary fighters and renowned soldiers!

3.3. Other

There is also talk of making Alliances a part of eRepublik and forming an actual module for them!
Removal of the captaincy elections, where the daily order will be set by the second-in-command.
Military reforms and talk of Community storage.

All in all an interesting outlook of 2013!
