Day 1,590, 23:49 Published in United Kingdom North Macedonia by Foreign Office

Ever wonder what you can see if you open the worldmap on your homepage of erepublik? Want to know why you need to fight to win in the battles your Daily Orders tell you to?
This article will combine military knowledge with political knowledge. Getting information out of your erepublik homepage isn't rocket science. You only need to know where and how to look. Enjoy 🙂

First of all, where is this world map we’re talking about? If you look under the tab community in your Erepublik face you will see it standing right there. Or you’ll just follow this link: http://www.erepublik.com/en/map

When you come on the screen of the map you see different kind of buttons you can do.

- On your left you can zoom in your map or zoom out.
- Right next to it is a minimap of the world.

- In the middle you can select a country. When you’ve chosen a country you will be immediately directed to that country

- Next to that is where you can choose your view. You have four options:

Political map: this shows you the regions a country have and what resources that region hold.
Active battles: this shows the active battles in which the country is in. When you click on a region that is being attacked you can see who is the attacker, and by clicking the arrow right next to the attacker you can go to that battlefield. If you click on the arrow next to the name of the region you get directed to the erepublik page where you find all there is to know about that region. Including the regions that border this region.

Population: the population button shows in which region to most population lives. How red the region is determines how many people live in it. The more red it turns the more people live in it.
You could also click an individual resource. This will show you where you can find those resources. The region that have that resource will turn green, while the rest stays white.
-The last thing you can choose in the world map is the date. You can go back in time and see what has happened in the history of the e-world. You could also look at how the wars are progressing. And that is what we’ll be doing now!

We’ll be starting on the 22th of March(day 1584 on Erepublik) and end on the 26th of March(day 1588 on Erepublik). We’ll be looking at the battles in a part Europe and how they progress.

Let’s start with 22 March:

On the political map you’ll see what the starting situation is like. The battle map shows the battles going on.
On this part of the map of Europe we’ll be discussing four wars. Russia vs Sweden, Finland vs Estonia, Poland vs Ukraine and Belgium vs The Netherlands. As you can see the Russians have launched an attack on one of the few remaining regions of Sweden. The attack on Scania would turn out to be a success for Russia with them gaining that region. Finland is attacking Estonia at Pohja-Eesti. This was also a successful attack. Belgium was wiped for a short time on the 22nd. But they successfully took back Wallonia out of their aggressors hand. Last war we’ll be looking at is Poland vs Ukraine. While Poland was having trouble fighting off Ukraine, today they gained initiative by winning the battle.

23 March:

Sweden tried to free Bohus out of Russian hand but were unsuccessful. In the meanwhile they did free Gotaland out of Irish hands, but it doesn’t show on the screenshot.
Poland got their region in Little Poland back.
Belgium also tried to get their region back by starting a resistance war. But they weren’t successful in Brussels. In the meanwhile Estonia gained initiative against Finland by winning the battle in Kirde-Eesti.

24 March

But on the 24th of March Belgium was successful in getting Brussels back into their hand.
Estonia was also able to get Pohja-Eesti back into their hands. And Sweden was even able to get two regions back. Both Svealand and Smaland was returned into their hands. They got rid of Ireland in Sweden so they couldn’t attack them anymore. But that was not the only success they were having. The attack of Russia on Gotaland didn’t turn into a win for Russia, now Sweden had the initiative in the war.
Poland attacked Galicia and Lodomeria, a region of Ukraine and took it from them.

25 March

Now Estonia had the initiative against Finland they decided it was time to attack Southern Finland. With a win they grabbed their self another region. Belgium who gained initiative against the Dutch attack Southern Netherlands and won. They also got back their last original region in Flanders. Poland continued their attack on Ukraine and keeps on winning. This time Subcarpathia falls into their hands.
Sweden continues their resistance against Russia and takes back two regions of them. Scania and Norrland and Sameland. But their attack on Ostlandet failed meaning Russia regained initiative.

26 march

Quiet on the Belgium vs The Netherlands front.
Sweden tried to take back Bohus but didn’t succeed
Poland hold off the resistance war of Ukraine in Subcarpathia and won another region in Podolia.
And Estonia won their battle against Finland in Western Finland.

Hopefully this small timeline shows you how you can see the progression in wars when viewing the world map. What can you learn of this? When you look at the Poland vs Ukraine war you see that while Poland was struggling for a while. But now they have initiative and they keep on winning. Even though Belgium got wiped by The Netherlands they showed strength and came back. It could be that something changed while they were fighting which gave them the edge to now win the battles.
So you see the world map can give you many info about the countries and the wars they are having. Have they been doing well so they have a chance to be victorious. Or have they only lost regions from the start of the war. The world map is an useful tool that shouldn’t be left alone. It gives you a lot of interesting info. So use it!

Now if you combine this information with the information you get when you look through the media talk with people from different nations or visit their forums you also get the politics that goes hand in hand with the battles.

For example: Why couldn’t Sweden make a fist against Russia and lose all their regions in the first place? Why did Ireland invade their lands? The answer could have been found here and here or here.

This concludes this article for today. We will do the same for other battles over the same time period next article.

Yours truly,
