Hello there, this month in the MoFA we’ve decided to sit down with notable forigs and get their answers on the red hot issues you need to know about!

Today I'm interviewing global jet-setter and ex Irish President - Chew Chew Shoe, would recently changed his in game name to Carolus XII Rex. What a plonker.... To business then!


How did you first hear about eRepublik?

Through a mate I met from another game, he told me to start playing and so I did.


And did you come back and play the second day, and so on?

Well, for a start, yes. I started out in Sweden on my first account, I then proceeded to move to Italy where the CS Module was implemented so I was stuck being Italian, after a while I moved to the UK and got banned there, and so I started my current account roughly two months later.


He only played because he fancies Plato... :3

How quickly did you get out 2-clicker land?

Well, my first account (Which was entire two-clicking) excluded I'd say about a week or two, I got a message from Rainy Sunday who at the time was in Israel, she wanted me to join her and Jude Connors on IRC where I quickly (much thanks to Jude and Rainy) learnt the game.


So what did you get up to in your first three months of eRepublik?

I started out spamming the American media with loads of nooby articles, thinking I knew the game inside and out and basically just making a fool out of myself, after a bit however I went on a trip to eSingapore where I proceeded to start up many successful businesses, which lead to me making quite a bit of coin in my early days. Furthermore, I started working in the Foreign Department in Singapore my first week there, later on proceeded to an executive position within the Ministry of Defence where I coordinated national strikes etc.

What happened next?

After coordinating the first national strike in Singapore's history which came to be a great success, where we shipped roughly half of our active population over to Greece, equipped them with weapons and food and turned a wall in Greece's favour I figured I was experienced enough to try for congress, and so I did. I got elected, and I was also appointed Minister of Immigration, an office which I held for five months, during which time we never faced a serious PTO threat despite our very small population!


So was this the final country you were in before came to the eUK?

Actually, having a hard time to decide I swapped citizenship between Singapore and the UK back and forth quite a few time, in the end however I was left with UK citizenship, I was raised to the position of Queen Mother of the UK and I had quite the fun time there, going against the political nature of the UK by starting for example parties such as the United Kingdom Terrorist Party with Fruitcommando.

But the lure of Guinness struck?

Truth is, my last months in the UK I believed the UK's politics and community in general moved for the worse, I no longer enjoyed staying there, and after the UK decided to leave TERRA, invade Ireland and bend over to Serbia I knew that my time there had come to an end. I assisted Ireland in the war, however, I had yet to move from the UK, I was considering going back to Singapore but since Thedark Ace had already destroyed the country by being the most horrible president I've ever seen, allowing not only floods of Romanian PTOers in but also crushing the remaining community I felt there was not a whole lot for me to gain there. After a while of staying in the UK doing pretty much nothing, Padraig (Irish_Rebel_Reborn) extended an invite for me to come join him and the Irish Citizen Army in Ireland, which I accepted, and I may say it was the best decision I've ever made during my time in eRepublik.


So after reaching Ireland, you would have been there around the same time as the Bremen Clubhouse?

Yes, I came to Ireland around the same time as the BCH actually, and due to suspicions over my allegiance my citizenship approval was postponed, however, having tanked millions of damage (One million at the time was roughly what 10-20 million is today or so) for Ireland it got accepted within a week or so.

In fact, I was often accused of being a member of the BCH, primarily by the political opposition in Ireland and the BCH themselves.


What did you do in the 4-5 months prior to your CPship?

I came to Ireland during Marcus Suridius' presidency, having put in a good word for me already I had gained some credibility even before my political career in Ireland got started, Irasian was elected shortly afterwards and the country was wiped by the UK, after which Chance Harrison's presidency begun and I was appointed dMoD, as dMoD I was primarily instructed to carry out orders, organise strikes etc.. My credibility begun to rise and come Padraig's (Irish_Rebel_Reborn) presidency, I was already one of the top figures in Irish politics. During Padraig's (Irish_Rebel_Reborn) presidency, the cabinet worked quite differently from how cabinets normally worked, we were not a president and his ministers but rather a council governing the country together, and where Padraig (Irish_Rebel_Reborn) worked as a spokesperson, I handled foreign and defence affairs and Irishbhoy1967 handled most of the internal cabinet affairs, assisting all ministers, mapping out successful plans and instructing us all on what to do and how to do it with most success. During this month we not only kicked Poland out of the USA, but we also reached the gates of London. After this I was set for a career of great success in Ireland, and I served in almost every cabinet after that up until my presidency in March 2012.


And how have your CP terms gone in general?

Actually I have only been president once, if you count by times elected (I have however had to take the mantle and workload of it quite a few times before), but I'd say my presidency was quite the success.


What's next for Chew Chew Shoe (New Name Carolrus XII Rex) then?

I am currently residing in Sweden, where I already have been elected to the Riksdag (congress) and been appointed a position within the foreign ministry, and I am planning on building up on that for a while, other than that I am currently working on a little secret pet project of mine that I have going, but we'll see how that goes.


What has been your favourite moment in eRepublik?

Any moment with my brothers in the ICA, where we spent hours planning and executing some of the most successful political and military manoeuvrings in Irish history, and still had time for the best banter in eRepublik.


Do you feel that the next tranch of alliances will finally moved to 3 blocks, or are we doomed to polarisation?

I fear that a third alliance block within eRepublik is currently not a great possibility, since the geopolitical situation in eRepublik is such that any alliance will need to request assistance of another for success on the battlefield, chaining alliances together as one, despite how independent they may want to be, or even think they are.


Are we going three way?


Furthermore, the egotistic traits that ravage eRepublik's nations at the moment will not make it any easier, having in mind that war is a necessity which brings near no consequences upon a nation, leading to nations' leaders acting however they please creating divides, and having to enforce it by engaging one alliance block in eRepublik. Any attempt to start a third block will unfortunately lead to failure within a few months period.


But surely we're seen a little more independence from ABC vs Asgard? New smaller component alliances seem to be popping up everywhere....

What you are forgetting is the fact that both ABC and Asgard relies on other nations' influence, and although ABC may rely on foreign nations a bit more than Asgard does, Asgard isn't exactly in a position to dictate their own future either.


And now for something completely different! What is your favourite alcohol beverage, and why?

Guinness, because nothing beats a good dark beer!
