[MoFA BG] Regarding the recent events..

Day 1,559, 13:19 Published in Ukraine Bulgaria by The Graverobber

Greetings,

As the MoFa of eBulgaria I would like to address the current state of relations between Bulgaria and Ukraine in light of the latest developments as well as some beliefs that are not based on facts of the last few months.

First I'd like to begin with expressing our deep disappointment in the new "defensive pact" which Ukraine has initiated and signed with Turkey and Argentina. While Argentina is probably unaware of what it has gotten itself into, the presence of Turkey in this pact is a slap in the face for Bulgaria.

While Turkey is a trial member of EDEN, there is an outstanding issue between Turkey and Bulgaria, thus Ukraine signing a defensive pact with Turkey clearly demonstrates where its allegiance lies at the moment and for the future. When we consider that last 2 wars, 1 direct and 1 indirect between Bulgaria and Turkey were initiated by Bulgaria with the express intent to free Ukraine, it is lain why this is an insult.

In addition I would like to say, that Bulgaria is the only country that has stayed by Ukraine's side for close to 2 years now in good or bad times. Thus as stated in the official position of Bulgarian government, we will present a case to the congress to cease the MPP between the two countries until such a time that our relations may normalize again.

The coincidence of this act, with the attempt of Bulgaria to find a solution to the problems with Turkey makes it even a harder pill to swallow.

I would like to address a few things of the past few months however as much speculation has been made that Bulgaria freed Ukraine for resources only.

That is not only not true, but cannot be farther from the truth. Bulgaria actually made every effort to try and compensate Ukraine for any losses and inconvenience caused by the loss of Taurida. Bessarabia as a resources which was not unique was a deal made on good will, while Taurida was primarily a tactical swap at the beginning, same as North Caucaus and only if both were gained would the tactical importance be realized.

Simply put, it was to take advantage of the peace signed between Bulgaria and Turkey and thus deny Turkey access north. In return, after being unable to do so on it's own, I on behalf of Bulgaria and Ukraine, negotiated with Moldova and secured a deal in which Ukraine received 1 resource and through a TW a second resource to use. Thus Ukraine had not only been freed, but had lost 1 resource and gained 2. In addition I helped to arrange a swap of regions between Ukraine and Russia in which both countries, gained 1 resource each, this deal was later rescinded by the will of Ukraine. To summarize, form 0 regions, no congress, to all but 4 regions free, - 1 resource + 3 additional resources, after 2 weeks.

Later on for tactical purposes, the deal was disturbed for a short period in which complex swaps were made, to protect both Moldova and Ukraine from invasion, as well as to help Romania to escape to the Baltic's through Ukraine and save its congress at the time. After that the agreement between Moldova and Ukraine had fallen apart. This is when the actual problems started.

After the new government came into power, talks were started to find a way to re-compensate Ukraine for the regions Bulgaria was holding, there were a number of options discussed, including for me and Bulgaria to hold negotiations with either Moldova or Belarus to secure 2 resources for Ukraine, with Belarus being a better option as it was possible to re-compensate it, with regions from other countries. The other option was for Ukraine to take and occupy regions from ONE countries for the resources, which was the option chosen bu Ukrainian CP in the end. I on my part made it clear to him, that this is the most risky of all the options, and that RWs are risky and cannot be guaranteed that they will be suppressed, however if the regions are lost, we would help in direct battles to regain them. Understanding that, the Ukrainian CP preferred this option to one seeking diplomatically to gain the regions from other countries. It is also important that a few times during negotiations, the opinion of Ukraine on the matter would change and a few times the process would start over because of it.

This caused ultimately to take close to two weeks to come to an official agreement, which was presented. At the time I had to be absent due to RL work related issues so I was not present for the finalizing of the plans but had left with the understanding that a general agreement was made.

Thus the claims that the contract was broken, because Bulgaria did not send enough damage to suppress the Hungarian RWs is incorrect, it was Bulgaria's duty to help recover those regions in case they were lost. No single country can guarantee to win foreign RWs against a whole alliance and it is illogical to expect it.

So this month, based o that as one of the reason and the absence of the "Turkish" threat from south, Ukraine asked for it's regions back and has received them. As stated then, to Bulgaria it is more important to keep the relations rather than the resources, though it has put the country in a much more disadvantaged position in terms to Turkey in the growing tensions between both countries.

In addition I'd like to point out, that before that Bulgaria went to war with Turkey and ultimately was deleted numerous times over a 2 month period in an attempt to free Ukraine from Turkey again in which it succeeded, unfortunately only for Hungary and Romania to arrive. Later after signing a peace deal with Turkey and participating in the first deletion of Serbia, Bulgaria once again freed Ukrainian regions, this time from Serbia and Hungary, but Turkey took advantage to reconquer them and after Poland got involved Bulgaria was unable to withstand and was pushed out of Ukraine and consequently deleted by Serbia. During all this time which was months, Bulgaria did not use any resources and did not seek any recompensation from Ukraine for it's efforts, thus the claims that it has always helped Ukraine only for the bonuses and resources are not only unfounded but a bitter pill to swallow for us as well.

This led to the need in change of tactics so that Bulgaria could be the one piking it's battles and not have more then 1 strong opponent against it at a time, thus the tactic with blocking the access north of Turkey, signing a peace agreement with Serbia, and the ability to fight 1 on 1 either Hungary or Poland. Something that would be exploited very successfully in the following weeks and would lead to the conquering of little Bulgaria despite 400 million tanking by Poland, before Turkey changed sides.

The status quo, right now is quite different and TEDEN is dominating on all battlefields, the change begun before Turkey, however the speed with which it has happened has been speeded up by its addition, thus the current decision of Ukraine to sign a defensive alliance with Turkey in a time when TEDEN is winning any battle it wants to is very much unneeded, illogical and only serves as a demonstration towards Bulgaria of the independence of Ukraine and it's new found allegiance, which is unnecessary as Bulgaria has never had the ambition to suppress Ukraine, on the contrary, Ukraine is stronger then ever now and I like to think that Bulgaria had something to do with it.

I would like to wish luck to Ukraine and it's players in the new-found direction it has chosen to take.
