Today is one of the most important days in the Netherlands. Our country hero is returning from Spain by boat to travel across the country and spoiling everyone he can meet. From this day everyone can place their shoes by the fireplace to get candy and on his birthday he even spoils us more with presents. As he cannot organize it all alone, he asked some of his friends to join him in his travel to our country. You may know one of them as we forgot to take him back to Spain, last year.
Of course I am talking about Sinterklaas!
Every eDutch citizen can place his or her shoe near the fireplace and sing a nice Sinterklaassong to honor this great hero. Do this in our comments and maybe he leave something in your shoe.
