Hello there!
It is with a degree of sadness that I announce my intention to withdraw from the January 2013 presidential elections. This decision has been a result of the party politics that has plagued the nation, not through lack of support from my own party nor from other good willing players.
I believe I have shown both candidates how to run for country president this month and now it is their turn to appease not only the sheep voters but the swing voters as well. The floor is theirs. I will not take part in any administration regardless who wins.
I apologise to all the people who supported me in the campaign, particularly Garth L, the people I teamed up with in the BigAnt administration, TRS who supported me and members of my own party. I would like to apologise to those who look beyond party politics. But when it comes to being voted in as country leader, I am out voted at every angle and it would be pointless for me to continue.
By withdrawing there is a slim chance we will get a real race...

It will be an interesting fight between BA and Beta

Run in another party, no reason your manifestos should go to waste just because party's are playing the numbers game. You can still offer voters an alternative.

I'm sorry but why does someone not backing you mean they are playing party politics? Before this election it was obvious that ESO, UKRP, PCP, even One Vision, would need the backing of other parties because they're too small to win on their own.
But that backing is based on candidates, not agreements. If people picked another candidate over you, they voted for the candidate they thought was better, which has NOTHING to do with parties.
I really take issue with the wording used here, because it insinuates that Beta or ESO had some sort of deal with TUP, which is absolutely not the case. If any party has played politics, its UKRP for dropping you in favour of backing Betafoxtrot.
Face it kiddo, politics sucks.

Have to agree with JamesW there. I am surprised your party didn't back you and canvass support from other parties rather than just pulling the rug from under you. I see why they did it as they want Big Ant out at all costs though.
Still, hope your not feeling down because I am sure your time will come again.
It was mitte's decision to pull out, not UKRP's. No one pulled the rug from under her.
His not running no more , think his been talked out of it by other parties, it's a shame as there a good person , maybe another time mate !

@Rory and others who are claiming UKRP stopped mitte running, this is not the case. We are all in support of mitte continuing on. Mittekemuis was the one herself to withdraw her campaign, I know myself and UKRP have been 100% behind mitte's campaign from the start.

Two candidates with similar ideas just means neither wins. Combine manifestos and run on a joint campaign. It's common sense.
Whilst I didn't agree with all of your manifesto, you were probably the ONLY candidate able to steer between the extremes.

It's so sad to see you decide not to run Mitte.
And James, Mitte refused to take part in the back and forth of this rift, Whilst other parties were more interested in who they /didn't/ want to be president rather than who they /did/.
Sad to say but it seems this rift will continue and such a strong, friendly and experienced candidate has been pushed out due to this divide.

I actually think those traits would be/are good enough to win people over. Parties may back candidates but it doesn't mean their members will vote that way, afterall its a private ballot.

Shame, you where the better of my two main rivals this month, it would have been a real battle against you and an honour to do battle against you.
I hope this month doesn't turn you off running again in the future.

It's plain going in that the only chance of unseating BigAnt and overcoming his 280ish votes (UKPP/NE/PCP) is an ESO candidate.
Short of TUP fielding an awesome candidate with no factional taint - Only ESO are in the position to put together a winning coalition of ESO/TUP/1V/UKRP (300ish votes) and indeed came close to doing so as Beta had momentum in 1V but his lack of exposure in comparison to incumbent BA meant many votes went with 'devil you know'.
*I'm on the understanding that Beta was unable to state his case till confirmed as ESO candidate under ESO party rules.
If that is the case then perhaps ESO need to avoid being last to announce in the future to give their candidate a chance...............or not. Internal ESO question really, nowt to do with outsiders.

It would have been a wasted run with only the backing of the #5 party, even if you were the perfect candidate. I hope you can get some more support for an attempt some other month.

Alfa, everyone in the ESO ballott is encouraged to apply to other parties, indeed we actively encourage it. The only rule relating to CP elections is that the PP must include all candidates who have applied in a poll started no later than the 1st of the month. (This was posted publicly in our CP election outline a few days ago)

Pity, I was looking forward to a three horse race this month.
Wasn't a criticism Jamesw I was just pointing out that portents of an ESO CP candidate are sought after and if ESO could produce said candidate as the 'official' candidate at a slightly earlier date (without compromising your parties integrity) then he or she would have a better shot at grabbing noms.
