Dear friends,

I hope that you will forgive me but this article will be a pretty sentimental affair. I am writing this article to all of my friends who are left in the new world, this will be (unless I am very much mistaken) the last article I will write to you and I have never been good at saying goodbye. I am sorry for the waffle, but I had to get all this off my chest.

Here goes nothing



1085 days ago I logged into erepublik for the first time. Since then I have often wondered how I would end up leaving this game: whether I would go out on a high fresh of a victory or be hounded into a defeat and simply give up. However, now I come to write this article, there seems to be no other way to write it other than with a heavy heart.

I have read a lot of articles from people who are shouting at the admins and rage quitting the game at the moment, and to be honest, I considered writing one myself before I realised that to write about the game would be to miss the point. You see, I have always had a simple mentality with games: when they stop being fun, stop playing. Today I realised that any draw which this game had has disappeared for me and so, keeping to my word, I am leaving.

However, my memories of this game will not be bitter ones of poor customer relations and unresponsive admins. How could they be when I have spent time with so many wonderful people? The memory that I will take away with me from this game is one of friendship and of community, and for that I have to thank you!

I would love to name all the friends who I have had the privilege to spend time with over the years, but that simply isn’t plausible because there have been so many of you, but I would feel awful without mentioning a few people:



Elle Roslin

My favourite Canadian…ever. Roz always has time to talk to you when you need a chat and is good for a laugh or for a serious conversation. She is the perfect example of how the game should be playe😛 working hard in RL and putting it first and yet managing to consistently perform to a high standard on erepublik…Roz you have genuinely been an inspiration to me



Mittekemuis

Mitte is probably the most caring person I have come into contact with in all my time on erepublik. She never fails to ensure you feel welcomed and to look after you. Fiercely loyal and wonderfully balance😛 I will miss all our conversations and good times together



Thatcher

The embodiment of loyalty. Whether it brings him issues, causes problems or even creates enemies, you can be sure that Thatcher will stand by you right to the end. He is great to watch play and great to play alongside because RL friendships with fellow players mean more to Thatcher than any in game mechanic, a trait few seem to share. Thank you for your undying support and friendship Thatcher!



Kain Propan

One of the guys on erepublik who I have grown closest to in all my time playing the game. Kain’s commitment to the cause and (in particular) his work ethic is unrivalled by any other player I know on erepublik at the moment (in my opinion). He is the most fantastic support and encouragement to me, and to see him make the progress I have seen in him (both in game and in terms of his character) has been one of the biggest joys of my entire time here. Kain: keep doing what you are doing and continue to be the encouragement that others need.



Thomas765

My partner in crime through all that I have done in the UK! Thomas and I have shared so many memories from our days together in the RAF! We have grown together and it has been my absolute pleasure to spend my time with him. Without Thomas I certainly wouldn’t have lasted this long in the game or had nearly as much fun: I love you bro (no homo).



Please don’t be offended if I didn’t list you, there are so many close friends who I simply could not fit on the article in the interests of keeping it bearably short, but fear not, I will remember my friends.

I would also like to thank the Irish for being such friendly and generally cool opponents to compete with, and more recently friends to joke with. Thank you to all our opponents and allies who have been fighting so hard to make this game enjoyable even while you have been fighting on the battlefield.

The en😛 one last time



I have always said that I would end my days in eSouth Africa, where I was born more than a thousand days ago, and it seems fitting to return to Gauteng (where it all began) to finally die. However, being the fool that I am, I can’t help but want to end on a high.

For that reason, I am asking that all of you, those who call me a friend would do me one small service. I would love to go out fighting side by side with my friends from across the years and from many different countries. For that reason, I would love if people would fight in the 6th mini battle here: http://www.erepublik.com/en/military/battlefield/25728 alongside me one last time.

What I am asking is that everyone who feels obliged to do so would save some fights and fight alongside me in my final battle. I would also ask that you refrain from spending any gold in the battle (if you are usually so inclined) as I hate the idea that I am costing you money. Feel free to use chewies and zookas though 😛

I will still try and pop onto the irc occasionally, but I can’t promise that I will be there regularly enough to see everyone.

It has been my great joy and pleasure to spend this time with you, and I wish you all the very best in all you attempt (IRL)
