[LOX] Yet Another Episode.

Age. Some say it ain't nothin' but a number. Some say it automatically transfers a wealth of wisdom based on simple life experience. Still others claim that age has no relevance if you choose to live in a way that refuses to recognize and learn from past mistakes.

At the end of my last article, I'd briefly touched on my arrival to eMalaysia after a series of unfruitful "adventures" abroad. So let's begin there. eMalaysia, at the time, was a hub for worldwide eimmigrants looking for new starts. They had a lively community for such a small nation in population, as well as importance. Their one major recognition was their wargames, which made them a good destination point for people who wanted the small community feel, but still wanted to fight, rank up, snag some extra XP, etc. They also possessed a huge wealth of MPPs, enough so that it made them a fortress unto themselves. While it was true that they didn't use them to their best advantages, due to the inherent nature of their oath of neutrality, I felt that enough support just might have made them wake up and organize.

It's a striking country.

My first few weeks were uneventful. I joined what later became the Democratic People's Party with ExoM7 and settled in. I joined their forums, chatted in their IRC channels and began attempting to make a name for myself through their military re-organization. The Tentera Darat Malaysia had been stagnant and inactive for an extended period of time, as well as a major sticking point in regards to their own defense, which relied mainly on Hungarian immigrants, as well as a wandering merc group of tanks called Omnicorp, led by Fragreg. It had been extremely apparent even earlier, when in a move of protest, Alfagrem began resistance warring their occupied eThai regions during the FRoSEA era. (Federated Republic of Southeast Asia, iirc.) Due to their lack of an organized military presence, Alfagrem caused them no end of embarrassment and problems.

Their first step was starting a training program, ran by one pantherthug89, another former eUS military member who had left with a few others initially. Expecting nothing more than a simple grunt rank, I offered my services to ww88, the president in charge of the reorganization. It soon became apparent that he had other plans for me, as I was offered a Captain's rank and a squad of my own, full of fellow real life Americans who had started over in eMalaysia as well. The initial responses were good, as roll calls began and recruits rolled in and out.

Despite the positive start, forum setups were slow, the program began to stagnate over questions of funding, as well as supplies, which weren't forthcoming. The TDM Supreme Commander soon quit shortly thereafter, leaving the program rudderless. IRC talks began about who should pick up the slack and how we'd go about getting proper supply lines, funding, and the various other sundry logistical concerns surrounding any major military projects in V1.

It was during these talks that I met one Nagyzee. Now, to understand the player, you'd need to understand that without him, eMalaysia would have probably floundered even more. This is why I've always referred to him as the Godfather. He operated in backroom IRC deals, ran eMalaysia's economic matters and held a Vizier rank in Sol, as well as singlehandedly running the Sol wargames. He kept track of the finances, payments owed from countries and had a mind for numbers. I respected the man. Even despite being originally eHungarian, people who were once my bitter enemies, as well as generally being people you really couldn't trust. Nagy earned his position through general impartiality, true neutrality, a strong work ethic and an objective way of looking at things. That being said...the man was a bit of an ass, especially if he didn't agree with your viewpoints. Stubborn. Determined to stonewall any streamlining of any of his processes. Nagy's refusal to look at new ways to run things defined eMalaysia's beginning stagnation. Despite our disagreements, I knew that he'd always work his hardest in order to keep eMY free from invaders, PTO attempts, etc.

I know I sound completely doom and gloom, but that's sometimes life in the frontiers. I'm sure the new countries added recently understand that feeling intimately. It was that selfsame threat that brought about Malaysia's first babyboom attempt. Something that netted them almost 3,000 citizens, which wasn't bad for a new country. We thought it might have been a stepping stone to something even bigger, especially when RL instances between eMY and eIndonesia caused some major bad blood.

That, unfortunately, was not the case. The boom failed. Hard. Maybe one in twenty babies stayed active, with another fraction being simply sleeper bots laying silently in wait. (Something I'll touch on later, in another article.)

So, there I was. A man with plans, in a crumbling nation, with a rather large and aggressive neighbor in eIndonesia, a rapidly deteriorating military and no immediate prospects...or so I thought.

My next article will touch on Sol. Its history, its bureacratic functions, its failings and ultimate failure towards aspirations of global notoriety. Its structure, its conflicts and a rather revealing expose on why it failed.

Stay tuned!
