[LO] Old Soldiers and New Tricks.

Day 911, 16:51 Published in Malaysia USA by Liquid Oxygen

As I lay lazily upon the hammock I'd installed on the front porch of my Q5 retirement home on Redang Island, the phone rang. The "call" began simple. Polite chatter at first, followed by more important status checks in regards to our current home. A few hours passed as the conversation grew, the voice on the line seemingly filled with enough vigor to liven up even this old soldier's bones. eMY needs me, one more time, the voice said. I sighed. Perhaps it was time to take stock in what accomplishments I actually have and begin to re-evaluate them.

After politely disengaging, I hung up the phone and began to walk back into my home. A few more hours were spent simply reminiscing over the bloody battlefields I'd walked through. A few more spent cleaning my weapons...then I saw it. My battle mask. It'd been several terms since I'd donned it to lead soldiers out into the field on anything more than a slapfight. Sure, there's plenty of local color to be had out here, but to be honest, I was feeling the itch again.

It's one thing to simply talk about what needs to be done and it's quite another to walk the walk. Maybe I'd been recalcitrant in my duties to what my home requires of me. Perhaps my two terms of helping out with SolDiers was only a down payment. Perhaps my country requires more than snide comments and a few scattered witticisms, inflected with a dry sense of humor and a channer's short attention span. Maybe I'd been neglectful. I've been contentedly two clicking for too long.

There they sat, waiting for me, as always. Patiently. "Bah. I'm no tank..." I murmur. Who am I really fooling? eMalaysia requires every soldier and citizen it can get legitimately. So...I've awoken from my slumber. The last effects of the dreaded Z-Virus ravaging our nation's population is beginning to wear off. I'm awake, eMalaysia...and I'm coming back to do whatever needs done. So PTO'ers, be advised I'll be lurking in the shadows, profiteers, I'm going to rain on your parade, naysayers and fatcats content with the status quo, I'll be shaking your foundations to the core, if need be.

What's next for me? Congress? Maybe. A CP run? Don't count it out yet. In the mean time, I'm going to be rousing every citizen I have contacts with to get more active with me. It's time to revive this paradise into its full potential and I have every confidence that if we work together, we can do it.
I call on you, eMalaysia, young and old citizens alike to do the same as I have. It's far too easy to be complacent, expecting others to handle the work for you, but it's our responsibility to seek out where our help can be best used or needed. eLife is there for the living and I'd rather insure that there's something useful I can do with mine. Wouldn't you?
