[LO] A Year In The Life...

Day 919, 19:04 Published in Malaysia USA by Liquid Oxygen

Here I am, complacently sitting at my desk, lost in thought...wracking my brains on a subject to write about. As I do, I laugh to myself. I'd nearly forgotten my first Erep birthday in the New World!

One year. One year in the New World is quite a long time, considering it measures out 12 congressional and presidential terms. A lot can happen in a year, so I write today to share my personal experiences with the rest of my countrymen.

Day 553, a child was born in the mean streets of a middling sized city in Ohio, a state in the eUnited States of America. As most children, I spent my first weeks learning to walk, talk and earn my place in my new home. I laugh once more, mostly at my naivete back then. Man, I thought having a Q3 hospital was some seriously awesome business.

I grew older. Not much wiser, but more focused on what career I wanted to specialize in. I'd begun rapidly realizing that political life in the eUS was, to put it quite frankly, a cesspool of plots, counterplots, backstabbing, infighting and downright destructive behaviour. With that thought firmly in mind, I signed up for the eTraining Division, serving under many awesome officers. I learned teamwork, quality in leadership and an opportunity to advance, as war was looming.

The NA invasion happened. PEACE GC began a multi pronged attack into both eCanada and the eUnited States, using wars that had never been closed for many terms. eRussia attacked through eAlaska, while ePortugal, eIndonesia, eFrance and eHungary all began striking the mainlands of the eUS heartland. The battles raged across the North American continent, eUS and EDEN forces pushed back constantly, even eIran and the eUK came swapping into eCanada to act as region holders for their PEACE brethren.

California fell. Texas fell. New York fell. eCanada and eSpain were completely wiped from the game until they resistance warred back. Things began looking bleak as the last remnants of eUS resistance huddled in Florida. Some fled to eGreece and the rapidly expanding eSpain, or ePeru, scattering across the globe to wait and prepare.

Shattered ghettos in eNew York.

Threats were made. Sights that might not ever be seen again were seen. Strength 6 Field Marshals, parter making an oath to sell his house in order to destroy Citadel eFlorida, the cornerstone of the last bastion of eUS defense in the continent, as eCanada continued to struggle to regain their regions.

Suddenly, a glimmer of hope was gained, as a new president signed peace with ePortugal, regaining the Southern states of the eUS in the process. Thus, the new Confederate States of America was briefly reborn. Freedom fighters flocked from all over the globe as the counter offensive began against the eRussian and eIndonesian presences.

I was a much different and younger sort back then. Definitely more hopeful.

Soon after, my transfer to the eUS Mobile Infantry went through and I began a new life once more, serving under joeyrocketts and Daniel Hills. I made many new friends and as I thought at that time, a new family. As a cog in the wheel, the counter offensive crashed against California, the eIndonesians throwing us back in the second battle before finally falling in the third siege of the state. Finally, eColombia was swapped through in an attempt to initiative block us, which ultimately failed. Soon, the last vestiges of PEACE power in North America were down to eHungary, which sat on Manitoba and Nunavut.

My most memorable moments in the eUS was during those two battles, as we all sat in the IRC, awaiting our turn to fight in the mass attacks. eUSMI was rowdy, as Roughnecks tend to be...hungry. Willing to fight and berserk down to 40 health, if need be, to secure those regions...and we did.

Atypical eAmerican militia citizen soldier of the wastelands.

I was elated. Things couldn't get any better, I thought in my naivete. I had a great party I belonged to, an awesome military outfit I was apart of and the sky was the limit. Then the super alliance question happened. The eUS began shifting towards joining EDEN and like more than a few soldiers, I protested under the logic of what isn't broken doesn't require repair. I was summarily dismissed as a rabble rouser.

My faith in my ecountry was shaken. Around this same time, a party friend, ExoM7 had mentioned he was leaving for eMalaysia and invited me along. I wasn't certain about eMalaysia necessarily, so I traveled a bit. eGreece for a stint, eUkraine, Theocratic South Korea, then finally, after a few PMs swapped, I arrived at my new home. Destination: Kuala Lumpur!

It's a pretty striking sight when you're flying in.

I was welcomed here very quickly, amazingly enough and soon began a quest to find out just how I could best help my new home.

Part two will be written at a later date, guys, so stay tuned! The next portion details life in eMY, my role in Sol and SolDiers, my retirement and my resurrection.

Till then!
