[Kylero for CP] Read This

Day 1,838, 16:06 Published in Belgium Belgium by Kylero

As you all know, I am seeking the Presidency of eBelgium on December 5th. Here's another article describing my positions on certain things.

Immigration
I agree we need to have a national policy toward immigration control. That's what the Immigration Law is. In this law, Immigration Officers are tasked with reviewing applicants for possible acceptance or denial. This seems to be a good policy, but it does have possible negative consequences:

a. Bias- Immigration Officers are real people, and have their own opinions. They can deny people that they just outright personally don't like. Furthermore, they are appointed by the CP and the CoC which means that they can be political appointments. With that in mind, you can have an Immigration Officer accept someone they like without any discussion because only THEY have the power to allow others to accept, and if they are also CMs, they can do it right away. In fact, this happened last month. I don't think this is good.

b. Neglect- Having two people (IOs) as the only people that can recommend approval means that perfectly fine people can end up having to wait while there really is no need. Also, IOs can rely too much on other peoples' recommendations and end up not doing a thorough investigation. This can be troublesome.

c. Unfair- The Immigration Law can be unfair as it tells in-game elected Congress Members that they cannot use their game-given privileges without being permitted to by a couple of other people, who themselves may not even be elected CMs.

If elected, I plan to engage the public and Congress in a national discussion about our immigration policies.

Military
We have a good military. We have an active regular force of about 35 people. I understand we need them to have supplies as it keeps them active. But there needs to be more to the military than just getting supplies, clicking fight, and getting skill and level.

I'd like to see a little more role-play in the military in that soldiers are recognized on a weekly basis and presented awards for merit, valor, or discipline. I think it will only lead more people to enlist, and attract others from around The New World so they can have a fun military experience.

I would like to have a national discussion on how much the BNA budget should be. Right now, the BNA receives 250,000 BEF per month. That is about 500% more than we take in per month in tax income. This is unsustainable, and if we want to continue having a BNA that can give supplies, we need to begin to reduce the BNA budget now until we reach a comfortable spending level.

Economy
We have problems. Our monthly spending far outweighs our monthly income. Sure we have reserves, but we are rapidly using them up and in a few months, we will have next to nothing left. We can look at increasing tax rates, but that will only give us so much (a few thousand BEF per month). We need to continue to evaluate if our recipients of spending actually need all that is budgeted to them.

What I don't want is for our government to do nothing and watch us spend our final BEF and then say, "Well, thanks for the guns and food! See ya!" If that does happen, we will be left with a depleted treasury with nothing to show for it. I don't want this to happen, so we need to get on this right away.

National Security
eBelgium needs to remain vigilant for internal threats (multis and PTOs). We need to have a dedicated agency or Cabinet official to constantly remain on guard and know how to uncover and expose dangerous threats. I will continue to push for the eBelgian Intelligence Agency and will appoint a National Security Adviser to the Cabinet.
