Hi EAustralia

This is our third newsletter of the June party term and there's been a lot happening behind the scenes and in the public country domain. Our government has been communicating to its citizens through the press and now I'll fill you in on where we are in the Knighthawks.

Congress team ready

Party councillor LanyIsLost, president F0rse7i and myself have officially nominated. The door is open for another day until Plato closes it. On the 24th the party presidents assign their party ballot order to determine the order of election.

Lany and F0rse7i are long time EAustralians and have remained in the game out of love for the country and ERepublik. They are the experience we need in the next congress.

What's the deal with the order of the ballots?

The ERepublik congress election system works similarly to the real Australian senate election and other worldy elections by use of the quota system.

Each month the voting system decides based on how many seats each country receives the maximum number of congress members that can be elected. This is determined on number of regions held by a country in the game. There is a minimum number of votes each party will need to receive to elect a congress member. This is called the quota.

When each party receives enough quota through the election process, a nominee is elected to the congress through the order on the ballot starting at position 1 through the maximum number of candidates a party receives based on its tally at the close of the committee phase of the election. The result for each party is based on the final tally and balanced against each other to determine the congress members each party will have to represent them in the new congress.

Policies

First thing's first.

I'm not suggesting other parties or people are doing anything untoward or shady but let's face facts. Knighthawks have been out of the front line of politics for a while and as a former force in the game the newer members of the community since that time deserve to know what we stand for.

There haven't been major discussions surrounding fine points but it's important to get these issues out there so that voters can make an informed decision about the party they want to elect. Our message is simple: they have a viable choice with the Knighthawks.

The history of Knighthawks as a political unit is best represented in the way we approach congress duties.

* We have never been a disruptive force in the EAustralian political system.

Knighthawks treat people and other elected officials at face value. We have never used the old senate nor any function of congress to settle personal scores or move controversial agendas. The party supports the right of each congress member and government official to have their say, hold the floor and feel achievement in their contribution on every issue they want to bring. Providing the bill or motion is sound and doesn't disrupt the community balance, when a vote is called members generally consider it.

* Knighthawks always support treasury supply.

Congress members ask questions and learn to deal with the disappointment of indirect or unsatisfactory replies. It's a long running trait of the Department of Finance to be obscure to lock safe Budget passage (a previous senator's quip 🙂 )

At the end of it we vote up the Budget. Why? If parties force a stalemate it can cause havoc. MPPs can't initiate, any loans to other countries can't be repaid and government comes to a standstill. That's day 1 of the shut down.

As a four time senator from the former era I've seen there's a lot that can be done through political diplomacy to reach an agreeable outcome than what can be done by forcing an executive's hand.

Junior congress members across all parties beware that it may also be the last time you ever get elected to anything and not just in EAustralia.

* Knighthawks have rarely sided with impeachment proposals.

I call them the prime minister regardless of the constitution's fall because that's what we've always called the CP here since the Ecountry was founded.

Right or wrong, steady or arrogant, the Knighthawks have never sponsored an impeachment bill in EAustralia's history. Members have been free to vote their conscience as per all bills but this one is of particular significance to the way we operate.

Knighthawks have generally viewed the impeachment of a prime minister-president as something Plato shouldn't have given to congress so freely. There are exceptions like in all matters but it's not something we're proud to see as part of the system.

If you're wondering why the answer is ridiculously simple.

Forgetting EAustralia's population slide over the course of the past months there are many citizens who elect the prime minister. Disappointment is a human condition and not a game rule. It sends a very dangerous message when a fraction of the population can dismiss an official elected superior to them.

To the other parties in EAustralia

Knighthawks wish you the best of luck.

History

Knighthawks is one of EAustralia's longest continuing parties and have raised the careers of many former senators, speakers, cabinet ministers and prime ministers.

Recruiting on!!

If you're interested in joining our small but active party contact F0rse7i or me and we'll be happy to help. If you want to dive right in join the Knighthawks military council in game.
