[Just a Thought] Concerning eIreland....
Connor West
There’s been a lot of discussion about the eUK invading eIreland lately. There also seems to be quite a bit of support. Now, I want to see eIreland wiped from the map just as much as the next eUK citizen, but we need to think this through before we blindly run into war.
Before I begin talking about why I think this is a bad time to invade eIreland, let’s get a little background information….
There are currently three major alliances. They are known as New World Order (probably the most powerful), EDEN, and TERRA (we are a part of TERRA).
They don’t have an image that I know of….
New World Order consists of the following nations (according to the wiki): Hungary, Iran, Montenegro, Poland, Macedonia (or FYROM, I forget which the rl citizens prefer), Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, and Turkey. From my knowledge, among these countries, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Spain, and Turkey have a lot of military power.
TERRA consists of the following nations (according to the wiki): Argentina, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. From my knowledge, among these countries, Canada, France, the United States (and Russia?) have a lot of military power (this does not add up to NWO’s power).
EDEN consists of the following nations (according to the wiki): Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Croatia, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Romania, Sweden, and Ukraine. I have very limited knowledge of these nations and to be completely honest, other than Canada and Romania (who both can pack a punch, I believe), I can’t really say which nations can do the most damage for EDEN, because I really don’t know. The point is, it doesn’t add up to NWO (… Microsoft Word keeps changing NWO to NOW and it’s pretty annoying….).
Now, if you are following my train of thought (and have been reading Jamesw’s TERRA related articles) you will have found that unless TERRA and EDEN form some kind of alliance, neither can stand up to NWO in the long run (I’m not simply some crazy person, Jamesw has hinted at the same thing).
If you’ve paid really close attention, you will have noticed that Ireland is a part of EDEN. How would it look for the eUK (from whom the Secretary General AND Supreme Commander of TERRA come) to invade an EDEN nation? I’m not saying it’ll necessarily ruin any chances at teaming up with EDEN should NWO (or NOW as Microsoft Word likes to say….) decide they want some of TERRA’s regions (Ireland is fairly weak, after all), but it certainly won’t help them.
I’m not pretending to be an expert on international politics; I just thought this would be something to think about before we commit to an Irish invasion.
We don’t want to be doing this in a few months….

I like the 'regrets' poster 😛
1) China, Croatia, Greece, and Romania are the strongest countries in EDEN
2) This is a big problem, I have suggested someone contact the US CP, but nobody has...
With the addition of France and UK TERRA is very close to matching NWO, they I believe anyways are actually stronger because of one thing. TERRA goes across over 12 Time Zones, while NWO only covers a few all in Eastern Europe and one timezone in Asia. That is a crushing blow to NWO, and if separated EDEN would be crushed. Leaving them to joining TERRA and leaving EDEN, which brings TERRA in the lead. Which is why I don't think the alliance is too important and potentially is crippling to potential power.
I could see some nations of EDEN breaking apart and joining another alliance but I doubt there will be any good relation between TERRA and EDEN.
The fact is if we attack Ireland, we face EDEN...which we do have a chance at beating or at least tearing them apart... But have we failed to notice our other competitor; Serbia? As it stands now, Serbia is part of another alliance; NWO. So not only will we be forced to take on most of EDEN nations but will have to continue the defense against Serbia and probably NWO together.
I just think we rushed these alliances too fast. We need to take some consideration and look over some more things.
why dont we just ask EDEN if we can annex ireland as a unification project to strengthen both alliances as ireland can still be a country in name, and have the euk ad power behind its attacks, as it is small, and the euk gains territory to help us to defend ourselves if we should get attacked, everyone wins, bot alliances become more unified, and we get to wipe ireland
Good article, voted.
China isn't that powerful. Serbia, Poland, Hungary, Spain, Romania, Greece, the US, Bulgaria, Croatia, Brazil, Indo, Russia are all powerful countries, in very roughly that order. Canada and China aren't that powerful, and Terra is by far weaker than NWO and EDEN. The four main Terra countries (the US, Brazil, Argentina, France) have MPPs with two of the main EDEN countries (Romania and Croatia). Brazil & France hate Spain, France, Russia and Germany hate Poland, the US and Canada hate Hungary and dislike Serbia. It is very unlikely that NWO will team up with PANAM, and impossible for them to team up with EDEN. Turkey and Indo are pro-NWO, and hate Greece and the US respectively.
I just would love a good, clear article about what it'd cost to attack ireland, and what we'd gain (economically, military?)
And how realistic us being able to keep the territories is.
Other than that, i'd also like to raise the question : how does this all concern the UK?
Ok, everyone says EDEN and Terra must work together if we want to beat NWO; but right now, NWO doesn't bother the UK, and Terra and Eden aren't allies; and are fighting (I think?) at other points too. I don't truely see why annexing a small country as ireland should concern so much 'world politics' realising that I don't think NWO nor EDEN is actually about to evade the eUK.
@Etheri
Good questions. I have no idea how much it would cost to invade eIreland (probably not very much if my suspicions are correct). However fighting resistance wars could become expensive over time.
And you're right, NWO is not currently bothering us. But will that always be? If history of alliances tell us anything it's that, regardless of beginning intentions, the main factions always end up in full-scale war. I just don't think things are different enough to change that (not that it's a bad thing, it really boosts the economy).
Annexing eIreland may not trigger much resistance at all from the international community (aside from the Irish, of course), but it could give EDEN a reason to start a war (not saying it will happen, although most everyone wants a war of some sort).
So, it's really a guessing game at the moment. I just want people to think about what could happen (both positive and negative) and weigh the outcomes before we commit to a decision.
There would be an economic benefit from taking one of Ireland's fruit regions.
However there is already the problem of a few years of bad blood between the Uk and the US and despite being allied now i imagine you'd see a lot of the US's strongest fighters fighting against us.
If there's one thing we've seen over the course of erepublik history it is that no alliance lasts forever. Back in the day, it was PEACE and FORTIS and etc. and now neither exist. In the true long run, the eUK will outlast any and all alliances because of its resilience and cunning (who can deny British Humour). I support fully the annexation of eIreland. It will enhance our military (which is far better than anything they could put together) and the added people and businesses will aid in weapons manufacturing and food production, making our war efforts in the future more efficient.
I would be weary though, as Greatmoff alluded to: The people of the US are easily swayed from one side to another. If they find more amusement from one side than the side of their allies, they will switch (Let us not forget 'St.' Necrosis)...
