[Just a Thought] An Introduction

Day 1,123, 17:07 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Connor West

Hello, all. My name is Connor West and I’ve decided to take up a special project. You see, I have always been very interested in government. From a young age I became active in keeping an eye on whatever’s going on in that regard. It didn’t take me very long to realize that government is … well, to be at least a little nice about it, completely stupid … at least in real life.

Recently, I’ve become involved in party politics with the British Democratic Party (which everyone should join, by the way) and am currently serving as the Apprentice of the Congressional Director (who is also the Party President, Terribletiger). After watching how the party works together to make decisions and debating on things like party policy, I noticed that even when your side loses we all come back together and become a united British Democratic Party with, get ready for it, no hard feelings. And, if there was any criticism it was constructive and not condescending in the least. I very much admire this.

So, I’ve decided that I want to see if this attitude is also apparent in the eUK national government (I’ve got my fingers crossed). In this newspaper, I will be talking a lot about what’s happening in the eUK government (mostly the House of Commons, but I’ll throw in some stuff about the Prime Minister, too). Through this, I hope to increase my knowledge and understanding of the political atmosphere of this ecountry and keep any readers I may pick up along the way informed of just what on earth is happening in this crazy online world.

Before I begin this project, however, I feel like I should introduce myself to any potential subscribers in the sea of media-browsers who may have happened to click on my article. I’ll start with a little about the real-life me.

In real life I’m a born-and-raised American. (Connor notices that all his readers place their hands over their mouths and gasp in absolute horror). Yeah, yeah. I may be a real-life American, but I am very much an eLife Brit, and proud of it, too! Anyway, I’m currently a senior in high school and am looking at colleges (Connor wants to be a 7th grade English teacher). I’ve been active in real-life American politics for quite some time, volunteering on a number of campaigns throughout the years (mostly local, some state level, though). It was my interest in politics that drove me to this game when I saw it on the side of my monitor one day (It was an advertisement, I’m not that weird, okay?).

When I joined, I decided I wanted to be eborn in some place that I usually never thought about. So, I was scrolling through the list and saw eHungary, which I chose as my birth place. It didn’t take me long to find that most of the newspapers in eHungary were written in some language I’d never even seen before. So…. I decided to look for a country that would probably speak mostly English and wasn’t America. The eUK seemed to be the obvious choice. HOWEVER, there was a problem. I had no money and moving tickets are a BITCH to buy at economy skill level 1 (that is, if you feel like eating at all). About a week of two-clicking later, I took a plane to London, eUK where I have lived ever since, joined the BDP, joined the eUK forum, and became involved. I am happy to say that I completely understand just about everyone here (that was a comedic reference to my previous language difficulties).

You might be thinking, “Why did it take you a week to buy a moving ticket?” Well, it’s because I noticed that one ticket moved you one or two ‘zones’. Being the newbie that I was, I took that to mean: One moving ticket will allow me to move one region away. Therefore, I must buy an ass-load of moving tickets to get to London. To my astonishment, that was completely false, and I only needed one damned ticket. Ah well, lesson learned. Although, I still don’t know what a ‘zone’ is. It’d be nice if the admins would put them on the map….

So, vote and subscribe, please. I hope you enjoyed my first article. Oh yeah, and if you don’t subscribe I’ll get Captain America to head over to your house, fly through your ceiling, and eat all your cookies (that was a comedic reference to my being a real-life American).

Sincerely,
Connor West
