[JS]The Good Old Days

Day 1,516, 19:54 Published in Malaysia USA by Dr. Straatman

There's been a lot of hate flying around between the Turks and non-Turks the past few days, which reminds me a lot of the days of the FUP/DAP feud. I'm not going to give a complete history of it, but back in V1, eMalaysia was essentially split in two. There was the Federal Unity Party(FUP) and the Democratic Action Party(DAP), both parties went by other names at times, but these are the two that I remember most. For the most part, the FUP was RL Malaysians and the DAP was RL foreigners that had come to live in eMalaysia, there were exceptions of course. That's not to say that RL Malaysians and RL foreigners didn't get along, in fact I believe the split was mostly because one of the leaders of the FUP had created a baby boom of RL Malaysians that naturally flocked to his party. Anyways, in those days it was hard to find an issue that the DAP and the FUP agreed on. However, both sides got along with each other for the most part. There was a healthy competition at election time and not a whole lot of violence(until the end anyways)

You would be hard pressed to find many eMalaysians that were around in the time of the FUP/DAP days, but there's a lot to be learned from the V1 era in eMalaysia. For probably close to a year, eMalaysia has been essentially united during elections. There were multiple candidates, but there weren't two defined sides vying for power like there was in the past. Now the Turks have created that second side in the country and many don't understand how to deal with that. What I'm saying in this article, is that we don't need to be opposed to each other. Personally I'm still neutral in this whole debate, I was of course part of Marcotje's cabinet and Party President of the "Resistance Party," however I changed the name because I was asked to, not because I necessarily wanted too. I've had my share of fighting in the past and I've grown tired of it, I want to go back to a time where two factions could co-exist peacefully in a nation with only minor outbreaks that were few and far between.

I've written another article as well, focusing on where I think both sides are wrong. It can be found HERE
