[JF] WHAT I DID IN CONGRESS | APR 28

Day 1,255, 17:46 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by John Forseti

Greetings once again Friends, Countrymen and all peoples of the North East. Welcome to the third installment of WHAT I DID IN CONGRESS.

Once again just two proposals in Congress today, these were;

Minimum Wage 0.1-0.5 GBP by Bamber
I voted YES : For the lulz! Basically, once upon a time increasing the minimum wage was bad because the default was 1 GBP and people starting the game came in with so little skill they were unprofitable to employ even at 1 quid! Of course, a quid was a lot more valuable then, and admins have fiddled with skills quite a bit too So now it's not so bad. Not to mention the starting wage, skill one, pays around 22 GBP(I am skill 11 and I get paid 45 GBP - shows the production differences these days). So in the end, pass or not, this doesn't have any effect. EDIT: Oh apparantly some of the army are on the total minimum, I'd thought they were all still on 0.8. Whateves, surely good soldiers are worth paying 50p for! 🙂

Natural Enemy - Ireland proposed by Kumnaa
I voted NO : Ireland finally makes it to the table! This was really tough because we all want an Irish escapade, but like I said in my election manifesto, I will only support it when France and/or Germany aren't in open wars, fighting for their existence. Not to mention that Ireland have brought in Poland we don't really want the visa warriors and the polish bots screaming across the Irish sea.

On the forums now;

The UK budget debate continues to accrue posts, though there hasn't been much actual debate in a good while. 🙁

The speaker election finished, as I suspected with incumbent Sir Humphrey Appleby winning. As I came second(Out of two, yay!) I am the deputy speaker, but I haven't been given a briefing or outline of any duties I should perform so I guess I'm more understudy than deputy.
Final Result was;
Sir Appleguy: 14
John Forseti: 10
Abstentions: 6

The Natural Enemy Act proposed by Sir Humphrey Appleby still hasn't got a single sponsor as far as I can tell.

There was also a session of Prime Minister's questions in the IRC congress channel. I'm not sure the logs will get posted as the ration of serious questions to lulz questions was roughly 1:100. Is that due to the enigmatic personality of King-President Woldy, our collective distate for official-dom and roleplay, or the a consequence of being able to ask Woldy questions every time he's on IRC anyway? One for future ePolitical Scientists, that.

And that is that for today. Not a particularly amazing day all things considered. I shall leave you now with my song of the day;

Female of the Species by Space

Speaking of Liverpool yesterday reminded me of this band, and this is their most famous song.

Much love,
John Forseti
