[JF] WHAT I DID IN CONGRESS | APR 26

Day 1,253, 18:09 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by John Forseti

- I made that coat of arms when I was a lord for my “Duchy of Cleveland”. Since the North East as a region doesn’t have any heraldry of it’s own, thought I’d put it to use once more.

Greetings once again Friends, Countrymen, Geordies, Mackems, people of Teesdale and Weardale etc. I speak to you now as one of the North East’s congressional delegation, and that is well cool. I would like to thank everyone who voted yesterday, particularly those who voted for me of course 🙂, congratulate my honorable rivals Blaggard and Kain Propan and offer commiserations to those who didn’t make it, particularly my party colleague and friend, Dr Duncan. We had 35 votes in the election, quite a large turn out for the region, though of course most of those will be mobile votes, but now that King-President Woldy is suspending the Fortress London scheme, perhaps we can get a few settlers!

Now that the congratulatory crap is out of the way; WHAT I DID TODAY;

Due to the timing of some proposals during the election, there were a couple of dregs left of the previous Congress available after the checking period, these were;

Natural Enemy - Sweden proposed by Koratos
I voted YES : The proposal was doomed to failure anyway, but a campaign against Sweden would be pretty sweet. Not only have we yet to avenge ourselves over them for the fall of ATLANTIS (they and Poland betrayed the alliance by attacking fellow member Germany) but opening another front against ONE could alleviate some of pressure on France and Germany, our Girlfriends.

Mutual Protection Pact - Serbia proposed by King-President Woldy
I voted YES : Serbia might not be our girlfriend(Or boyfriend for that matter, I’m not sure what they do for a national personification) and they might be hanging out with a mixed crowd these days, but god damn it if we don’t still love them.

Since the inception of the new Congress there were also four new proposals, these were;

Mutual Protection Pact - Japan proposed by Alfred Ball President of Japan
I voted YES : Japan is another TERRA member to have had it’s interests subjugated to those of EDEN by the alliance itself so there is a bit of understanding between us and for them to ‘stick their neck out’ for us by proposing an MPP just after we leave TERRA is a huge show of support for which we are all very grateful and keen to reciprocate.

Natural Enemy - Sweden (again) proposed by Margaret H Thatcher (who is a man)
I voted YES : This was proposed more to prevent a proposal against Ireland than to really start a campaign against Sweden but the pros mentioned earlier still stand, and besides Ireland have signed an MPP with Poland, EDEN enemy numero uno, and I want to see how that pans out for them and EDEN. 🙂 However war with Sweden would mean cancelling out the Serbia MPP which does give pause for thought next time.

Mutual Protection Pact - Macedonia proposed by Makedonec3 President of Macedonia.
I voted YES : The Macedonians are bit like Serbia to us, old friends from Phoenix who we still hold some affection for. They are naughtily harassing France though, but if they attack the MPP will be cancelled and we(certainly I) will be on the French side of the lines. (Yes Macedonia, not FYROM. Deal with it.)

Mutual Protection Pact - Lithuania proposed by King-President Woldy
I voted YES : Don’t really know much about Lithuania these days but Woldy said we should do it. and having friends isn’t a bad thing.

That concludes the in-game proposals for Tuesday 26th of April, but of course, there is more to the UK congress than in-game proposals. There is a section of the UK National Forums to contend with as well, where out-of-game laws and matters of great import are (sometimes) are debated and voted.
Not much going on there in the first day of the new Congress. I signed in, spent hours reading up all the juicy gossip sensitive information I missed out on since February and candidated for the Speaker election(That is the position that basically manages the operation of the Congress forums) so that Appleguy had someone to run against, but then there was also one thing;

Petition - Declassify TERRA discussion and vote proposed by Smack / Kixtart UK Citizen
I voted YES: Anyone who knows me properly will know I am a believer in open public debate and consultation prior to making alliance decisions and that while I was very happy with the decision to leave TERRA I wasn’t impressed with the way it was done(in secret, no public debate and rushed). The least we can do is publish the result and discussion so the voters can evaluate their representatives for the next elections.

That wraps it for what I did in congress today, I hope anyone reading this found something useful, entertaining or enlightening about it, I leave you with my song of the day;

D.A.N.C.E. by Justice
