[IUP NEWS] There can be only one!

Day 1,142, 01:24 Published in Ireland Ireland by e-kane

As in the movies of Highlander, there can be only one in the end of an election of Country Precidency.

That is the savage rule of democracy.

In IUP we had a poll before the election (which I did not participate in since circumstances had forced me offline for several days) where we queried who the favorite candidate of IUP was. The option was me and CT. Since I am not a real candidate, there was only one already from the start.

I do not know how it comes that I was put up as a candidate. Seems it has something to do with our so loved and hated gaming platform mechanics (surprise, surprise)

So, please do not vote for me!

This is somewhat a delicate matter though since then it is only one candidate in reality. That is not democracy. I therefore suggest we proclaim the expected winner to be Lord Protector of Ireland.

I am personally very skeptical to this situation, and also quite worried on the dwindling participation in all of our elections. Remember the resent election where not even all Dail seat where filled?

We have a problem. A serious problem. A problem that is perhaps symptomatic for our poor anemic nation.

Since we are not in war, and the peril we are in are diminishing activity, engagement in the game and a dwindling population; I would suggest for our Lord Protector that instead of a strong leadership focused on the CP, he should delegate as much as possible to stimulate participation.

This situation is not the fault of our soon to be elected Lord Protector. He is probably earnest in his ambitions. Since we cannot turn the clock back and get a democratic election, I suggest that we help him during his stewardship of the country. Instead of pointless bickering, and the mandatory impeachment proposal within 1 week, can we please build a better nation?

It is important to recognize that the bettering of the country cannot happen from the top to the bottom. How many of our past presidents has not had that bitter realization?

In IUP we believe that participation is stimulated via activities in different communities in the country. This can be parties, or war orgs like the "infamous" ICA. Think what you want about ICA, but it gives choice and diversity to our nation.

IUP tries to achieve choice and activity by focusing on restructuring the social structures of the party and implementing programs for our members etc. A strong and active party that actively participate in the Dail and has good members available for governmental posts will in the end be a better goal than focusing soly on the CP position in short term elections. That is where we invest in our future. Does your party do the same for you? If not, it should.

Democracy is more than this image:

Strength trough unity! Unity trhough diversity!
