[ID4CP] Have you got what it takes?

Day 3,357, 21:19 Published in USA Canada by Ilene Dover

I’m excited! For the first time in my memory it looks like we might have a three horse race for the White House. The critics are out already too. My message is vague and terrible. Apparently.

I’d actually like to thank Naz for his comments. He’s half right. My first article was all about me. I want you to know who I am as a player and how I got to where I am today. That doesn’t help any of you understand what I’d do with my month in office though. Let’s start by looking at what’s wrong, or not as right as it could be. Then we can work out how to fix it.

So what’s gone wrong?

We lack passion.

There, I said it.

There is precious little we all agree on, and almost nothing that unites us. Recent administrations have lost control of the narrative, or simply failed to put one together. We’re fighting the UK and Orion again. Remind me again why we’re doing that? Weren’t we fighting Indonesia? What happened there? Wasn’t one of our major allies wiped a few months ago? Why aren’t we helping them?

Something that we can all get behind is required. That needs information. It needs communication. It needs a narrative. An administration that communicates in the game is absolutely required to get some passion back into the game. A sprawling war of words across forum posts is fine in and of itself, but lets take some of that passion and energy and put it towards playing the game. I mean, seriously. How many perennial government people actually login for more than 10 minutes each day?

We have some of the strongest Military Units in the game. We rank 9th internationally for ground damage and 7th internationally for air damage. But we have a Department of Defence orders publication that routinely gets less than 10 votes and only occasionally breaks into the Top News. There is (or at least used to be) a group PM floating around with the Secretaries of Defence and Foreign Affairs, as well as the President and the commanders of major MUs. That’s how priorities are set and controlled. And yet we only manage about 2% of our national damage output on priority targets.

I want to harness our MUs, and put them back to working towards national goals. MUs are at their best in competitions and tournaments. Plato used to host them for us, but there hasn’t been one for 9 months. So we’re going to have our own.

With great pleasure, I hereby announce The President’s Cup!

So what’s it all about then?

I want our MUs to hit where the Executive needs them. That might be for the USA. It might be for our allies. It could be a direct war, it could be a resistance war. It could be any damn battle we please, if it furthers our goals. The winner of The President’s Cup will be the MU that lands the most damage for priority targets over the 4 weeks I’ll be President. Sounds simple?

Not quite. Damage in the different ground divisions and aircraft battles will be counted differently. Division 4 hits will be factored down the most (because that’s where the elite citizen medals and most of the legendary ranks are). Aircraft hits will be factored up the most, because we’re still waiting for perception training Plato. Y’hear? We’re still waiting!!. Over-hitting (like pushing the wall from 80% to 85😵 will be excluded too. Energy is a finite resource and should not be wasted.

And of course, a President’s Cup isn’t complete without some entertaining sideshows, intended or otherwise.

Military Units will be able to increase their measured damage by writing about it. Fiction, good natured trash talking, statistical breakdowns. These are all good ways of putting a bit of passion back into the community.

Oh, and the prize? Besides bragging rights, of course. A big fat pile of cash. A million CC. 750k to the overall winning MU, and 250k to the hardest hitting MU - that is, the one with the best total per member, as long as there are at least 10 members.

Have you has got what it takes?

So, come on America! It’s time to stop sitting on the couch eating ice cream out of the tub. 2013 was a long time ago - let’s get back out into the world and see what’s out there.
