Beste GPN Leden,

Het was een turbulent maandje waarin ik jullie Partij President mocht zijn. Met dieptepunten én met hoogtepunten. We kwamen onder vuur, waren incidenteel verontwaardigd maar bleken ook meer en betere vrienden te hebben dan gedacht. We zochten hoe dan ook actief en pro-actief naar manieren om in de eNL politiek onze rug recht te houden. Ik sluit deze maand trots af. Trots op onze club, op onze interne samenwerking en de dingen die we samen hebben bereikt:

- we groeiden met zo’n 30% tot het huidige ledenaantal van 51: jonge maar ook ervaren spelers die zich scharen achter onze principes
- we hebben met Van Spijck de meest gewaardeerde politicus van het afgelopen kabinet in huis!

- we deden goed werk in de regering JoepO I, waardoor onze mensen ook voor deze maand weer door 2 CP kandidaten werden gevraagd
- door niet voor eigen eer te gaan wonnen we opnieuw 20% van de zetels in congres (terwijl we in verhouding minder leden hebben)
- onze community op forum wordt steeds hechter en het is zonder meer elke avond gezellig op ons IRC-kanaal (#gpn)

Op de vooravond van de nieuwe verkiezingen voor Partij President, wil ik iedereen dan ook van harte bedanken voor de inzet, enthousiasme, tijd en energie die jullie in onze partij steken. Allereerst Briepe, mijn vpp, waar ik veel mee overlegd heb, gediscussieerd, hard gewerkt maar waar ik vooral ook heel veel mee heb gelachen! Voor de rest noem ik geen namen, want dan wordt de lijst te lang, maar: jongens, jullie zijn een topclub en ik ben er trots op jullie afgelopen maand te hebben mogen vertegenwoordigen.

Tot slot. We zijn misschien niet de partij met de meeste experience points, de hoogste ranks, of de meeste politieke ervaring. Maar met oprechte betrokkenheid, enthousiasme, openheid en respect voor elkaar komt ook het ‘gewone volk’ blijkbaar een heel eind. Chapeau!

Maar we zijn er nog niet. We zullen moeten groeien, in aantallen en in kennis en ervaring. We zullen moeten bewijzen dat we de partij ontgroeid zijn die ooit door JvdG werd opgestart en het niet meer verdienen te worden geassocieerd met zijn praktijken. We hebben mooie plannen voor onze interne organisatie, nieuwe projecten en ambities, maar die moeten we nog wel realiseren.

Wie gaat het stokje van mij overnemen?
We hebben voor de komende maand een zestal kandidaten. Mensen met hun eigen visie, kwaliteiten en plannen. Op ons GPN forum hebben de kandidaten hun plannen gepresenteerd. Ik hoop dat jullie dit allemaal hebben gelezen en in grote getalen je stem zult uitbrengen, zodat ik de zorg voor de partij met een gerust hart kan overdragen aan de beste kandidaat.

Dear GPN members,

It has been a turbulent month, looking back as your Party President. With highs and depths. We have been under fire, found ourselves by times indignant, but we also learned we have more and better friends than we thought. We have searched, actively and pro-actively, for ways to keep our backs straight in eNL politics. I end this month, proud of our people, our internal cooperation, and the things we have managed to accomplish together:

- We have grown by 30% to the current number of 51 members: young, but also experience players that stand behind our principles

- We did a good job in the government Joep O I, and our people were therefore asked again by 2 CP candidates
- Not putting our individual interest first, this time we won 20% of congress seats again (this with less than to be expected based on our member rate)
- Our forum community becomes closer every day, and we have a good time every evening at out IRC channel (#gpn)

At the forenight of the next elections for Party President, I want to thank everyone from the heart for the effort, enthousiasm, time and energy you put in our party. First of all Briepe, my vpp, with whom I deliberated, debated, worked hard, but mainly had a great deal of fun with! For the rest I will not call names, for the list will become too long, but guys, you are the best and I am proud I was given the chance to represent you in the past month.

Conclusive. We may not be the party with the most experience points, the highest ranks, or the most political experience. But with sincere involvement, enthousiasm, openness and respect towards eachother, we have shown the ‘common people’ can get pretty far. Heads up!

But we are not there yet. We will have to grow, in numbers as well as in knowledge and experience. We will have to prove we have outgrown the party once founded by JvdG, and are not associated with his practices. We have great plans for our internal organisation, new projects and ambitions, but we still need to realize them.

Who is going to take over?
For the upcoming term we have 6 candidates. People with their own vision, capabilities and plans. On our GPN forum, our candidates have presented their plans. I hope you all read them and vote, so that I can hand over the party to the best candidate for the job.
