[FoW] War on Romania

Day 4,029, 08:46 Published in Ireland Serbia by Don Croata.

Hello Eire!

Once again all the world’s spotlights has been turned to our beautiful emerald island. We’re facing one of the strongest country in eWorld today. Yesterday we have accidentally conquered Scotland, which made it possible for Romania to declare war on us. It wasn’t intentional attack so we’ve expected that UK will simply cut the borders by taking Scotland back. Unfortunatly, they had other plans. They’ve cancelled our TW because of a “breach in agreement” when we took Scotland even though it happened few times already and it’s basically an easy-to-fix mistake. That move and Romanian declaration of war was enough for them to cancel our TW. Of course, everyone pick their chances to get the best for themselves. UK used the opportunity to do so and get rid of Croatian, Greek and Irish TW by switching side and joining Romania. Nothing new from UK anyway. We have to accept the fact we made a mistake too. But that’s not the topic of my article.

Romanian entrance

As soon as we took Scotland Romania took the opportunity to launch an attack on the mighty Irish empire. We were looking into the options we have, but it was fairly hard to make anyone do something to protect our border, so the only way out was to either return Northern Ireland to UK and close the border with Romania by doing so or to fight them in Scotland and try to defeat them directly.

I don’t have to say how hard would it be to actually fight Romanians in a direct battle, so we’ve decided to try two things. First was to fight all across the battlefield in Northern Ireland, for UK, but Romanians were stronger and they’ve beaten us. We fought well and we had 2 epics, 2 false epics against them, in a RW and that’s fairly hard to accomplish. We’re still fighting in Northern Ireland while I’m writing this article, it’s still our priority #1.

The other thing we tried was to fight Romania in Air round in Scotland which also brought many of our friends on our side. Cyprus, Greece, Argentina and Hungary gave us great help there and we were actually winning points through the most of the battle. Unfortunately, that’s when Romanians pushed, they got strong allied support as well and turned the Scotland battle in their favour. It was a great fight.

Not many countries would even consider fighting against Romanians, especially those of our size. We’ve seen much bigger and stronger countries running away without making a punch. At least we tried. I’m proud on both our citizens who did loads of damage and those allies who showed up and helped us. Another thing I have to say is that it’s very enjoyable to fight without CO’s. It’s pure help to the allies, and it makes things much more interesting. I’d love to see CO’s gone forever, but that doesn’t seem very likely.

We fought a giant.

I don’t wanna see anyone feeling bad about our lost. We really did our best, but when you’re facing an opponent like Romania it’s just incredibly hard to defeat them. We knew our chances were smaller than ever, but we give it a try. That try was much better than I expected. Ireland fought hard again, it’s just that this time we’ve faced a country which is by far most organized in the world.

Romania is just a perfect example of Asteria. They do use scripts, but everyone does. They might have some bots, but the other side has them as well. It is time to realize and face it that they’ve (Asteria) simply adopted to the changes much faster, overcame it long time ago and used everything they do in their favour. Their reactions are faster, their plans are more detailed, they coordination is perfect considering the current state of the game.

*The Fighting Irish and its best allies

Asteria has grown in all the aspects of this game. Their military coordination, their plans and simply their taking on the chances and picking the right battles, their strategy when Croatia has been on its top strength is just amazing. They don’t rush things, they include everyone and eventually they win. The other, often misunderstood aspect of the game is called diplomacy and once again they are miles ahead of us when it comes to it. They’ve brought several strong countries into their side after our side couldn’t capitalise when they were openly offering themselves to us. They’re choosing their allies, small country they’re willing to protect and their resources much better than we do. By we, I mean our side.

Just take a look on the bonuses of the Asteria countries. They’ve worked for years to get themselves such a perfection. With Canada being safest resource base they are free to go around and fight, help their allies. They’ve also spread their countries and are controlling just enough regions. They’re balanced and always calm.

Unused potential

The reason I’m writing such a positive words about Romania isn’t just the fact they’re stronger so I’m trying to justify our defeat, it’s the fact that our side is late with all of those things Romania is doing. We’ve been busy with fighting each others, internal struggles and serious lack of any plans. Damage wise, the difference isn’t nearly as big as it seems when you take a look at the battlefields. We’re capable of doing damage too, we just spread our damage around on too many fronts because there’s no centralized coordination Asteria has.

I’m very thankful to all of our allies who showed up for us today, if you take a look at who fought for us Greece, Cyprus, Argentina and Hungary really did hell of a job. It’s not the question weather are allies are willing to help. They are, they were always there for us. It’s a much bigger issue we’re having and that’s total lack of plans, goals, cooperation and strategy from our side.

Military wise we’re having friendly epics while some of the allies are in need of help. We rarely get any priorities from our allies and it’s incredibly hard to find something to fight for. This was exactly the reason why we Airstriked North Korea few weeks ago. There’s nothing else to do if you’re playing this game on this side. Asteria, however, just wait and react fast on our moves and it works like a gem for them.

Diplomacy wise we’re left out alone, not just Ireland, not just Croatia/Greece/Turkey. Everyone are left alone. We’re taking care of our TW’s and blaming the other side for cheating. Well, maybe it’s time to grow a pair and actually do something about it. Either fight like we’re supposed to or don’t fight at all. It’s been a long time since we had allies by the meaning of that word. We only have friends, great friends who showed up massively for us today, but friends who are not coordinated, friends without long term plans and goals. Without a goal, you have nothing in the present or the future as well.

If there’s any name for our side rather than just ‘Anti Asteria’ I’m proposing to use “Unused Potential Alliance”, because that’s exactly what we are. Forgive me for so many critiques, I’m probably still under the impression of the battles and all, but I’d like those in charge of our allied countries to take this as a constructive critique rather than anything else. Ireland is ready, we’re ready to take our part, organize stuff and create plans with our allies. We have united community willing to fight for its friends, all we need is our friends to have the same.

Dark days upon us

Unless we change the way we play we can expect even darker days coming. Romania has arrived and it just seems impossible to stop them now. We will have to take a look into our possibilities and decide what’s best for the future. But those who occupy come and go, nothing in this game is permanent except the problem I’ve mentioned in the paragraph above, that’s the real problem and that’s something which worries me much more than anything else.

Romania showed up, won and now they’ll probably keep us occupied for a while. It’s always good to be positive so we can take this time to regroup, reorganize ourselves as a country and maybe, just maybe give our best to help our friends to do the same. Because they need help and we need our friends to be strong.

Our community has proven itself already, we have great journalists, fighters who has the heart to fight the strongest ones knowing we’re gonna lose, we have diplomats, reputation, economists and most importantly an active and organized community. Ireland, you’re basically what every small country should be, never change.

I’m gonna finish this article in a positive mood, hopeful that things might change into our favour, but it’s not going to happen alone, we have to work hard for it. It would make this game much more playable and enjoyable, all we have to do is to stop blaming everyone else and give it a good thinking on what to do and how to fix things. Ireland is ready.
