[FL] A Light Rain Began to Fall

Day 4,034, 14:16 Published in Ireland Ireland by Celadori Cotis

Dear Diary,

It's me again, just checking in after a long day. Walking all the way to and from school is sooooo boring now; we aren't allowed to use the buses. "For our protection???" If they would just take down all those stupid checkpoints it would be much easier to get cars through. I mean, is it better that we are all walking on the roadside? Duh 🙁

Still, today was better than yesterday. Our new teacher didn't yell as much; I think it was because all the boys in class were better behaved. Mr. Yanovitch (vix? viczsz? vzxcv?) has been especially mean to Bobby R, but I don't know why - he never plays with the bad kids like Bobby P, and he is always reading alone. Maybe that is why Mr. Y doesn't like him, all the new teachers don't want us to have the old history books for some reason. That class is just focused on the current war now, really. I guess they just want us to know the most important stuff, I'm sure we will get to learn proper history in a few more weeks. I don't mind, I didn't really like that class.

I asked mommy when dad would write to us again, I liked getting letters about his adventures! We haven't gotten any mail in a while, I bet the soldiers are just sitting around at the post office and not even trying to sort the mail, that has to be the easiest job, to "lockdown the post office." I don't get why they use such mean sounding words. Just say they are going to keep it company for a while! And while you are hanging out there - deliver some mail! Sheesh.

And we had a good dinner tonight, too! Mommy brought out some of the last canned carrots we had and and neighbors shared their meat and we made some stew! That made the hard bread really tasty after soaking up all the leftover soupy bits. Dinner made me remember when dad would bring home red deer from hunting in the fall and he would make really heavy, savory stew, but with hot peppers that made it soooo spicy you would cry... and I did start to cry a little when I was thinking about that but then mommy's eyes got wet too and said she knew it wasn't much food but we had to be strong in front of company since they shared? I don't think we were crying for the same reason...

Anyyyyway, I finished all my homework early, so I got to play with Sean and Terry and Kathy after dinner. I did all my new Romanian homework after maths when I got home, and it is getting a lot easier now that we can all practice together. I like to be able to speak so mommy doesn't understand me, it makes her and the other adults get really mad and then yell at us kids, but they don't know we just run away and talk more to make fun of them hehehe 🙂

Well I think that is it for the day and they are shutting the electricity off for the night again to save energy so there won't be any light to write by soon anyway. Goodnight, I'll write to you again tomorrow!

thank you for listening
