[FIN] Do you still love me, Sweden?

Day 1,219, 14:57 Published in Sweden China by Petsku

Good evening, Sweden. I’m Petsku and I’m currently MoFA of Finland. Earlier I’ve worked mainly as MoD and as an advisor but I was also a president last summer. I’ve wanted to write this article for ages but due to lack of time it took a long time. But better late than never, right?

Our president Gabriel Lavanche

The game has changed a lot during the last couple of months. Admins are coming up with huge changes every week. Bottom line is that economy is still a mess, political module is still as boring as ever and the media is still full of crap. I doubt this article would really make a difference but I decided to have a go.

In addition to the game mechanical changes admins are introducing, there have been some huge changes on foreign politics and on alliance level. As you probably know, Poland and Spain left EDEN which caused a lot of controversy around it. Both countries tried to make a nice exit so that they wouldn’t get marked as Juniors like UK was when they changed sides. Both are currently fighting against their old allies and for the new NWO/ONE alliance which basically consists of power quartet of Hungary, Serbia, Poland and Spain.

That’s just.. mean!

I won’t go and judge SPoland too much on this article. I’d rather try to find the positive sides on these switches of side. The game changed a bit and MoFOs like me finally got something to do on foreign affairs. Yes, there are still those same old boring wars around Balkan area. As Scandinavians we shouldn’t use our energy on crying about it but rather try to find a solution.

Currently your only MPP with an EDEN member is signed with Croatia. Before signing this you were without EDEN MPPs for a long time. It’s pretty clear that the bond between Sweden and EDEN is very thin. What I’d like to point out is that you don’t have to make a decision between EDEN and NWO. Neutrality is an alternative although I don’t really think that there’s such thing at Erepublik. When really being neutral you are either too small to have a real impact or then you simply don’t give a f*ck about anything. Neither of these suits Sweden, if you ask me.

Finland and Sweden the way it should be

It’s been a long time since we did some military co-operation against a common enemy. Some old players might remember the times when Finland, Norway and Sweden fought together against Russia to defend our core regions. We were weaker on paper but with some great strategical thinking and combined attacks we managed to banish Russia from our lands. These were great times and relations between us three have never been better.

So, what is the solution then? We border Russia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Poland and UK. Where can we head as a team? I really don’t have an answer for this but if you come up with something, I’m sure Finland is with you!

This image is barely a tip

Due to some backfiring politics from both of us, relations between our countries aren’t as warm as they should be. Finland basically asked you to choose between Poland, your old ally and military partner, and EDEN, the alliance you’ve been part of since it was founded. Everyone should realize that such decisions can’t be urged and rushed since it’s not an easy call. We’ve simply asked too much of you and on behalf of the whole Finnish community (me + 5 others), I would like to apologize. I’ve had some good talks with Swedish government during the last couple of months and I think we share the view on most things. Eventually the decision between friends will occur. I’m also sure that we’re the first one to know about it and to support it.

Will you?*puppyeyes*

Whatever you decide, there’s only one thing Finland wants to know. Do you still love us, Sweden? Are you willing to roll with us, no matter what happens on alliance level?
