Ladies and gentlemen of the eWorld welcome to your new Federalist media team for the month of February to March 2016. Last month I was deputy to director MrCarey, and as you might have noticed, he was also expected to carry on those duties, however we have swapped roles as guided by Madame Party President Melissa Rose, and for the remainder of this month I will be releasing Fed Media, along with the wonderfully talented Valk Dezra, and anyone else who would like to get involved

I think you and I, eAmerica, will get along just fine

We can be like this nice stock photo

In my opinion the federalist party is the most logical choice for any new player to join when they want to take their first steps in eRepublik. As is evident we have the most active leadership, and the most opportunities for young players to get involved. You don’t have to take my word however, I asked Valk, media deputy, to write about his reasons for joining the party when he first entered the game.

Valk Dezra:

“I've been a citizen of the United States for seven days. During the first 48 hours, I was contacted by members of We The People and the Federalist Party suggesting I consider membership in their respective parties. I want to specifically recognize both of those parties because I greatly appreciate people taking the time to reach out to me and explain what each of their parties had to offer. However, I decided to research my options before jumping into anything.

From what I've learned, the political module is one of the best and most promising aspects of eRepublik, as well as the most approachable for someone starting this far into eRepublik's lifetime. Economic options are limited, and low strength means I would have a rather low impact on the military module right now as well. With this in mind, my political choice needed to be well thought out and was based on a number of factors.

My first priority was finding a party where I could accomplish something. I have very little desire in joining a party only to sit on the sidelines because then what was the point of getting involved in the first place? Opportunity can be found in parties of any size and needs are likely even greater in smaller parties. In a smaller party though, I would likely be limited in what I could learn from my fellow party members, and restricted to what I could learn through American University, or from talking with other party members. Not that either of those are bad, in fact I’ve signed up with American University, and I’m quite sure from talking with some people that they would likely have been helpful sources of information no matter what my decision had been. I would be unable to move up to a congressional level in the future with a small party though, so I limited my decision to the top five parties.

Secondly, I wanted a party that was active. Numbers, size, and opportunity are good, but if people don’t participate or vote, then that indicates an issue with either the game or party. Member engagement with their party is absolutely essential and reflects on both its leadership, and the programs within. I took advantage of the public records for past elections and compared them to the current membership of the top five parties. This is not the most scientific method, as party numbers may fluctuate and it depends significantly on the party’s ability to generate voter turnout, but it was adequate for me to get a general idea of activity.

Finally, I wanted a party that would build me up at the same time I helped build it up. Something that is easily seen wherever you look, is the tendency for those involved in leadership roles to get burnt out due to overreliance on them. If I am planning on dedicating some of my time to helping build something, it seems fair and reasonable to expect support to flow both ways. This is part of the foundation of a healthy bidirectional relationship, so it was an important factor in choosing a party.
As anyone can now see, I went with the Federalist Party. I cannot say it is objectively the best party, I cannot say it has all the best programs or that it will be the best fit for everyone, because everyone has their own needs. For me and the priorities I outlined above though, it has definitely been the right decision. I am already involved in the media team and it is clear that there is support for the advancement of newer players. The party forums are active and there are activities and games both in and out of eRepublik and the forums for members to take part in. There are programs to support party member development and distribution of responsibilities is balanced with supporting roles present. Everyone I have talked to has been extremely helpful, and I can only look forward to the great times still to come.”
