[EXTRA/SSG/Elections] Candidacy Article #2: The Dark Knight Rises

Day 2,175, 00:06 Published in Japan Japan by ahava3233

Hi all, I'm here to present you with another exciting candidacy article to further explain the intent of my candidacy (giving it a nice theme) and to give you more of a clearer insight into my agenda. Please enjoy.

Notice: This is a very long article with idealistic as well as some practical aspects, if you want the highly practical, tl;dr version, scroll down to the My plan to save Gotham/Japan section, there is alot of good info about what I intend to do as CP there.

You know, I've been noticing that I've been able to apply the story of a particular western comic book (sorry not manga) hero to the situation in this country. This analogy has been on my mind ever since Arhangellord brought the idea up in a bit of a sarcastic comment to my response to Lucifel's article around congress elections last month.

Some nice Ukiyo-e I found when I looked up, "Sengoku Batman". See here.

People, alot of us compare the situation in Japan to that of the Sengoku period in Japanese history. However, a different analogy might be worth looking into as well. eJapan might be somewhat like this world's version of Gotham City. As I mentioned in my previous article, you have Geezus, a corrupt politician solely out for his own personal gain. There is also as a cell of Serbian PTOers, who are desperately trying to take over this country's politics and culture through a numbers game whilst claiming they are innocent of this to either deceive you or to protect their friends, who are actually PTOing the nation (not all the Serbs actually care to PTO, but a large majority do). However, this leaves the majority of you all alone, without anyone there to really protect you. You're left in a world of flame wars, anarchy, and general unrest with nowhere to really turn, in a figurative danger of sorts. So, for the past few months, I've noticed the citizens stuck in the middle have generally been seeking protection from these elements by siding with one of the two sides, Geezus or the Serbs. Last month, it was William of Edenbury, who was working with Darshu, a close friend of Geezus, and Kowalski_afc, a leader in the Serbian coalition and a previous member of Shinsengumi. The month before, it was me, who was working with the Serbian Coalition in Constantine the Great an attempt to take down Geezus after his presidency with horrible accountability, and the coalition behind Squibeel, which was working with Geezus in an attempt to neutralize the Serbs behind me.

People of Japan, it's time someone came along and risked it all to help you. The community that was here before all of this is slowly dying due to the tyrrany of these two forces. I guess my intention is to be that person.

I'll admit, I'm not a perfect politician, I have my flaws. It's been a rough road for me, hell I've once even supported one of the forces I'm now trying to subdue in order to take down Geezus. However, I have the skills to do the job and I don't think anyone can question it. I am a war veteran of the Mitsunami War and have battlefield command and control experience from the most intense war in our history. I also have foreign affairs experience from my time working in CoT recently as an aMC as well as in the MoFA with the Ambassador Program during Akki's term. I have been in congress, as a regular member and speaker many times in the past. Additionally, I have been MoCH before, I've worked tirelessly to expose the muck in our society as a journalist, and lastly, these past few months I have been involved as an MoF/Governor, in charge of the country's day to day finances.

Am I the best one to take on this task--I doubt it. Again, I've hit so many bumps on the road and I've spilled my share of blood, but I've held myself accountable for everything, unlike so many others in this country. Furthermore, in my mind, as long as individuals can prove to me that they're willing to atone for their crimes, I don't leave em for dead...so like Batman, I don't kill. Call it pretentious, but I guess like Batman, I am not the hero this country needs--I am the one it deserves, an outspoken guardian, here to take the flak for you. That would be the right thing to say right about now, don't you think? :v

I have already appealed to the corrupt and allied PPs of ULJ and DNP, Darshu and Geezus, with a nice, clean deal with terms they would probably like, but their lust for power is too fierce for them to give me their support, Geezus in particular refuses to hear it or even respond to me. I know some of you speak of peace and working together, but that is no way for you to survive, you can't grow complacent of these corrupt overlords, you need to fight back. Thus, your Dark Knight is here, whether you asked for her or not, and I hope you, the people, stand by me as I attempt to fix this place from the ground up.

Anyway, enough talk, let me speak about my agenda and my cabinet (in the batcave 😛). I spoke of community in my previous article, but our community does center around the gameplay element in this world, so don't worry, I intend to get shit done and you'll be able to join in 😃.

My plan to save Gotham/Japan

1. Work on our alliances and allied battles for now rather than fighting RoC directly
I mentioned this before, we simply do not have the resources or manpower to fight RoC directly, especially with TWO backing them. We need to bring ourselves in the world stage--CoT is being overrun, let's work as a team and either do more to put our all into helping them or determine where we really want to be on the world stage in the future. By association, this also means getting more people involved in CoT so they can understand what's going on over there for now.

Please note this does not mean, "give up on freeing Japan". If anything, we're improving conditions for freeing this place in the future rather than sitting around and wasting our time. If the opportunity presents itself, of course we will strike back. However, it is better to what you can than to cry over something you can't do right now.

2. Bring back an improved Order of the Day
This is tied into the last idea. It is my belief that many in this nation have lost interest in the world around them. However, what happens in places like South America and Europe affects us more than many of you realize. Thus, I wish to give you all a new perspective on the world through the Order of the Day from the MoD. This game is based around war, thus orders will be explained in context to bring interest in global affairs to our community, and the government will furthermore do its best to make it as easy as possible for you to follow through with those orders.

3. Establish PSICOM
The Ministry of Internal Affairs did an incredible job last month in recruiting people and watching for multies and such. I intend to further their work and establish a permanent part of the government for them, an intelligence service of sorts. I was considering naming the permanent agency after the RL Japanese one, the PSIA, meaning the Public Security Intelligence Agency, but honestly, most of us unfortunately don't speak Japanese, and that name doesn't have much of a ring to it in English. So, I turned to something with a similar name from a recent Japanese video game, Final Fantasy XIII, known as PSICOM (pronounced SAI-CALM). That stands for the Public Security and Intelligence Command or the Public Safety and Intelligence Command. In Final Fantasy XIII, PSICOM worked as a military intelligence and special forces hand of Cocoon to protect against foreign and domestic threats originating from Pulse. PSICOM will play a similar role here in protecting Japan.

In any event, PSICOM will continue the work of the MoIA from last month and I will also involve them in matters such intelligence analysis, political data mining, and special operations. PSICOM's work will be an integral part of my decision making as CP.

4. Establish ANA Airlines
This is related to the first two matters. People have been constantly discussing a military supply system as of late. However, there is another, cheaper way we can supply the military other than through weapons and food, that is through moving tickets. In particular, given the first two points I gave above, there will be many key resistance wars our country will want to take part in. I'm sure as you can all know, Resistance Wars are an incredible tool in warfare, after all without them, we'd probably still be under occupation by Portugal given their allies are more powerful than our own.

However, the nature of RWs requires that people move to a specific country to fight, and not everyone can afford all those plane tickets. Thus, the government will establish its own "airline" (ANA) and will help pay for flights during strategic battles for allies, as needed. These flights would either be paid for by representatives from the countries in question or by using government money. This way, our country will become more known on the world stage and will be able to make a difference out there.

5. Consider a Militia Commune Financing System
Unlike William, I am not married to the idea of IJA and an official military. Thus, I am willing to take a financing program under consideration with congress approval for communes for Military Units. Shinsengumi, my MU, currently functions well as a commune by using a ton of Rubber Factories. This way, we cheaply utilize Work as Manager as well as commune employees to make tanks on a daily basis. All those rubber factories require tremendous startup capital to make though, and I'm willing to discuss that with MUs, under public eye and approval and on an individual basis.

6. Bring back the Ministry of Education
This is a more minor point, but this particular ministry has waned over the past couple of months. In the past, Auraborus has written some brilliant manga strips explaining various points about the game system. I'm going to ask him to repost some of those from time to time at his leisure as a passive measure to get more people involved with the game.

Batman Beyond, basically Batman's successor, Terry McGinnis

7. Get new people working as vice ministers and train them
Dang nab it! This country needs folks who are willing to learn the ropes about how to run a country. The same old people can't do this month after month after month--that simply isn't sustainable. I won't be here forever myself. Some of you folks need to step up and learn the ropes. I want you to empower yourselves and truly understand this game. I know alot of you just like to blow some shit up on occasion and lulz around, but believe me when I say this, the real gameplay in this world is in politics. Get involved. If you want to learn the real game here, contact me or any of the ministers! I will make sure your minister/mentor gives you the resources you need to understand the true potential of eRepublik gameplay!

8. Conquer Europe
Squibeel put this in his candidacy article for September. Of course this isn't really feasible this month or maybe even ever, but it illustrates a good point. You cannot lose sight of your goal when you play a game like this, you need to think long term and take baby steps towards success. It's just like life in a way I suppose.

The Batcave

Prime Minister: Kantaaa
Kantaaa has agreed to be my Prime Minister in the event I'd win. I'd have him do stuff like work as an aMC to CoT, help manage the country's finances in the orgs, assist the MoD and in Intelligence analysis, as well as work some diplomatic conversation in CoT and other areas. He is bored, he wants to do something--I'll be putting him through the crucible. He will no longer be bored and it'll be quite tough for him, but he's smart and willing to learn so he can become a great asset to this country in the future, maybe even a great CP someday.

PSICOM Director: William of Edenbury
William of Edenbury did an incredible job in special operations last month as CP. I intend to leverage his experience to help me analyze intel as is comes in as well as to direct operations against multies and other threats. I will keep an eye on him, but he will definitely have alot of liberty in this area to do what he thinks is necessary. I shall take full responsibility for his actions. His actions will furthermore remain open to the public unless there is a specific reason to keep them under wraps.

Minister of Defense: Unfilled & Seeking

Minister of Foreign Affairs: Unfilled & Seeking

Minister of Finance/Governor: Sensha
Sensha was essentially my apprentice this month in the Ministry of Finance. He was an incredible learner and has good knowledge of how to run the orgs. He also is a very accountable citizen, trustworthy and charitable even. He'll be in close contact with me throughout my term about the financial situation and I will lean on his advice in my decision making process.

Minister of Security: Turt037
Turt did a fine job as MoS last month and kept me up to date even when my own congressman accidentally broke immigration law. He's accountable and does his job well. I might ask him to work with PSICOM to further his efforts this month as well.

Minister of Education: Auraborus
As I said above, I intend to bring back Auraborus's work to give updated advice to new players tailored to the game system as it is. He has several incredible articles (such as this one) with tutorial manga strips from the past that he can re-tailor for today's world. His articles are really a rather enjoyable way to learn more about the game and to educate less experienced players!

Minister of Culture and History: DankChronic

DankChronic has tremendous experience as MoCH and personal vested interest in Japanese culture. He has furthermore run various creative programs for the MoCH throughout his eCareer and has even assisted in matters within this Ministry in cases where he was never appointed or the Ministry was never established officially by the CP. He'll have several creative programs for you this month, more than just Empress Day!

As I said before, I am going to ask most of my ministers to find a vice or I will appoint a vice for them if the opportunity presents itself. Reader, speak up and empower yourself if you want to learn, we need more knowledgeable and experienced people in this country. Last month the government was honestly terribly understaffed. If thou art hungry for knowledge and experience, come!

I hope you enjoyed all that. Please give me a chance here, this country's community needs to be taken to new heights if we are to become better than we are now. If you are concerned about the Serbs potentially winning, they are currently legitimately divided amongst two candidates, one of which, Kitarou Yuki, is a friend of mine who can do quite well for himself honestly. Please give me a chance to be your Dark Knight in Kevlar and Titanium armor...CUZ I'M BAT(WO)MAN.

Thank you and stay safe out there in Gotham! Please consider voting for me if you're looking for something better in this country, and otherwise whether or not you vote for me, be sure to take a look around you and become aware of what's actually going on in this country so you can improve upon it. Oh and be sure to stay tuned for further updates.

Read my previous article for more information about my candidacy if you haven't already.
