[ESO] Our Congressional Team

Day 1,924, 13:43 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Mark Augersburgh

This month ESO is putting forward a mix of experience in their candidates; new, current and veteran MPs have been included to represent the best cross-section of our society.

1. Lightning43
As ESO councillor he is responsible for helping all of our MPs through discussions and friendly advice, a role he has filled well and one that can be extended to the rest of congress.

2. Franz Samsa & 3. Ando Calrissian
Both have unsuccessfully tried to enter congress before, they have experience under their belts (being almost 2 and 3 years old) and it is good to see them both getting more actively involved again.

4. Mr Extra
A player that has recently become more interested in the game, friendly and polite they have served ESO well this current term and I have no doubt would continue to do so.

5. Mark Augersburgh
The ESO spokesperson and another returning MP, Mark has maintained his enthusiasm and confidence this month and would no doubt serve the country well for a second term.

6. Brigadier General Sikora
This month ESO has offered GBDP a spot on our roster, this is their candidate. Brigadier General Sikora is a new player (1 month old today) that has impressed CheetahCurtis with his enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

7. Betafoxtrot
A man whose experience and dedication speaks for itself, several times MoHA and multiple MP, Beta would be a boon for any sitting congress.

Now, as for our actual policies, they remain unchanged from last month’s Policy Review.

1 - Use of the Offsite UK Forums

ESO believes and will lobby for changes to the way Government operates to ensure that important government content, and any open discussions are replicated both in game and on the offsite forums. Government should use both theatres to gain more viewpoints and feedback on discussions and after discussions have ended, should amalgamate the feedback into a single place (either in game or on the forums), with a clearly advertised link to this posted both in game and on the forums. It all comes back to making information accessible and clear to everyone.

2 - Congressional Discussions

ESO believes any and all Congressional Discussions which are not deemed 'highly sensitive' by both the President and Minister of Foreign Affairs or as having a possibly negative effect on either the UKs relationship with our allies, or the UK or her allies' chance of victory in any wars, should be published for the public to view. This would include any guidance from Government ministers. You should know what the person representing you is saying, how else do you know who to vote for?

3 - Official Government Military / Official Military Units

Government should firstly finalize and release the criteria to grant official status to other Military Units. This criteria should at its minimum, ensure that no 'official' Military Unit is giving, or part of a process which gives, preferential supplies or treatment to those based on their membership of a political party. The "official eUK MU" should help the eUK, not specific groups of it.

4 - The Future of Wars

A President will be required to ensure that Congress has all of the expected and possible outcomes of a given war during the discussion stage (IE BEFORE any vote is posted). For instance, if the discussion was about invading Ireland, congress would have to be reminded they are good friends with Bulgaria, who are good allies of ours, and the increased likelihood for other countries such as Norway, Canada, France, the Netherlands, etc, to either invade us in retaliation, or mobilize against us in the future. Another example of making everything clear and transparent.

5 - Taxes and the Economy

Before any cuts are made to any programs that benefit new players, Government should exhaust all other possible solutions, asking for donations from citizens, cutting other expenditure such as reducing MPPs to the bare minimum, or raising taxes should they be below 10% (or a rate advised by the MoF, whichever is lowest). New players bring us new perspectives and insights. Plus, we get bored of the same people.

6 - Governance of the UK Forums and IRC

The President should hold some power in relation to the running of the Forums and IRC, but changes would still require the agreement of the individuals chosen to run the forums by whoever pays for them.

Please consider voting for ESO, we have never, nor will we ever, put our own success before that of the country. We support that which we think is best for the eUK, even if it would hurt us as a party in some way, as was seen with ESO’s decline since it severed all operational links with The Legion: we really do put the eUK, as a country, first in all the things we do.

We offer you a chance to vote for something – good policies and candidates. We are not interested in courting votes as a means of voting against any other party or candidate: we feel we offer a fantastic option for these elections and encourage you to support a positive account, written by eUK players just like you, enacted by a eUK congress from all walks of e-life.

This is the official newspaper of ESO and over the next few weeks there will be lots of articles and editorials from the party here. If ANY party member would like to be a featured author or contributor then contact Mark Augersburg and you too could soon be gracing these pages. We like your voice, we want to hear it! If you aren't part of the ESO Party but still want your opinion to be heard let me know as well! We value your opinion regardless of history, background or activity.

Any player with UK Citizenship who is under level 30 can request one of the following 'omelettes' once per article, which will be given to you no strings attached. You may be asking yourself, "Self, does this mean it's free?". Yes, yes it does mean it's free, so enjoy. 🙂
