Dear beloved ESO members and snooping members of other parties,

Something deeply distressing has occurred and I find myself with the title of Party President. Shock horror; shock, shock horror!

As is customary, I would like to offer my thanks to everyone who voted in the Party elections, regardless of whether you voted for me or not. An especial well done to Nickalollyoff too for challenging me so late into the day, suggesting that society still harbours a great desire for dog-farts.



So, now on to how the hell I'm going to steer this ship...

Let's start on a bum-note...

I will begin by repeating a key part of my "manifesto": that I have extremely limited political ambitions in this game and for this term. I just don't have the motivation that would be needed to push this party into a more prominent position by myself.



I also harbour small doubts as to whether there is anyone else in the party who is currently in a position to do this. Consider this a challenge to prove me wrong!

So to rectify this, the sole focus of my term will be retention and community building. We need more people to want to be ESO and to realise just what a great bunch of sports we are. We need to till the soil and plant some seeds in hope of growing the next bunch of leaders.

Needless to say, I will ensure that ESO is well-fertilized by the time that I am done with it.

NO INNUENDO ALLOWED!



BUT I CANNOT DO IT ALONE!

I want you to fertilize our party with me. No idea will be too stupid and no member's views will be too insignificant for me to listen to you, and (hopefully) to try and implement what YOU want and what YOU think will help our party get better.

Disclaimer: some ideas might be too stupid...

To get us started, I have a very simple idea and this is where I beseech you all or at least those who have read this far to follow a few basic instructions:

1. When you log into eRepublik, check out the ESO in-game feed;
2. Read the comments on the in-game feed, and;
3. Post something - anything! - to the feed as often as you want.

Sounds easy, doesn't it? - but small minds like mine need to start with small steps. Consider this Step-One in looking like an active party. 😃

I will also be looking to increase our media presence and updates in this shall follow, along with news of a few smaller initiatives that I am currently trying to hammer some finer details into.

To underpin this, I will be looking to set up a rewards scheme to encourage the writing of articles and other pro-party activities.



Congress and other Positions

So, now the IMPORTANT bits:

Since this is eRepublik and there are more elections than you can shake a rather tedious and repetitive stick at, I would like to remind everyone that the congress elections are a week(ish) away. It would be great to have some active ESOers involved as we have a great shot at maintaining Top 5 at least that far. If you would like to candidate for congress and represent this sexy, sexy party then please apply in the usual manner. I will probably want to chat to you about your availability once you do candidate, so be prepared to also put up with a load of patronizing and mildly offensive spamming from yours truly.

I will also be listening to all non-Top 5 parties about the option of running their members under our flag. Unless, of course, we drop out of the Top 5 - in which case I won't be listening to myself because I'm quite bored of my own voice. Or something like that.

Anyway, anyway, anyway, this article is quite long enough considering I only meant to say "thank you". Another article to follow in 48hrs. Probably.
