[ESO] How to Apply to Congress

Day 1,921, 15:18 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Mark Augersburgh

Hopefully you've read our previous article "What's a Congress?" and decided you are ready to take your first steps into the world of politics. So now you might be saying to yourself, "Self, I'm well informed on what Congress is, what the members do, and why it's so important, but how do I apply?" Well have no fear because I'm about to metaphorically blow your mind.

I recommend you open up a second tab so you can read the article while following the instructions. From the homepage, go to the Community tab and scroll down to My Party. This is where all the information about your party is as well as where you can run for congress or even PP. Click on My Party.

Next step is to apply. Scroll down the page unitl you see this:

Congress

In this section you can see details about the last elections, the candidates who have already applied, and a button to run yourself. Remember, you have to be in a top 5 party to be able to run for congress. Click on Run for Congress and the next screen will come up. This is where you agree to represent your party in the elections as well as giving you a chance to link a presentation about why people should vote for you. There is no rush to do it as you can add one later. For this election you have until February 23rd to complete it.

Click Agree, and Congratulations, you are now a candidate in the next Congress elections! It will take you to this screen where you can view all the other candidates from your party.

The button on the My Party page will have now also changed to the following:

This allows you to edit your presentation. It also allows you to resign your candidacy in the odd chance you have changed your mind and no longer want to participate in the progression of this great nation (votes for the rhyme?).

Next Steps

Your PP will now order the candidates (On February 24th) based on their own criteria. It always a good move to send them a pm saying you want to run and some reasons why you think you should be high on the list. The more information you give, the easier the decision is for the PP. I'm not saying you should write a novel, but efficiency and productivity have always had a strong relationship with being informed.

If you are lucky enough to get elected, don't be too worried, because help is always available. Often times a pm will be set up between all of a parties congressman to help you in your first days as an MP. You've also got a lot of senior members around that are more than willing to help you out.

We hope you have found this article helpful. Send me a message if you would like me to elaborate on anything; I look forward to seeing your name on the ballot.
