[ESO] Back in Black

Day 1,690, 18:33 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Elle Roslin

Hi there, my name is Elle Roslin, and I’m looking for a new job!

ROSLIN FOR PRESIDENT

This month I have decided to throw my proverbial hat in the ring, and I will be running for the Party Presidency of ESO.

The BORING BACKGROUNDER

Who am I?

A real-world Canadian, I have been loitering around the eUK for about a year and a half now. I have been involved with this party almost since day one, in some form or another. I’ve been in Congress, have been the Party President in the past, and have served as a vPP /advisor for ESO PP’s beyond count. I have even had a starring turn as the Vice President of the country, where I was mostly just the arm candy to Talon’s leading-man status (HI TALON!).

I have also been heavily involved in military endeavors. Most of you will recognize me as the Commander of the ESO Legion, but a few of the older players will also recall my involvement with the UK Special Forces. Legion is a group that I am extremely proud of, and I can honestly say that the MU members (of all stripes) are a large part of what has kept me from going e-senile.

ESO & Me

I know this party inside and out. I know the vast majority of you personally, whether through irc/forum or through ingame correspondence. I’ve been embedded in the party for so long that in many ways my relationship with it now resembles that of a couple that has been married too long. Much of what I value and what I am is encapsulated in the ESO Mission Statement and Constitution. One of the driving reasons for my candidacy is that I truly believe that I am one of the best ambassadors for this group and this brand.

My priorities:

1. FUN – it’s a game. I have no time for silliness, partisanship, or pettiness.

2. Support – I have always believed in the potential and the promise of new players. I don’t have to look very far to find shining examples of people who have thrived when given the opportunity. I will continuously work to establish opportunities for all of our players.

3. A return to our roots – Every PP has their spin on things, and that is their prerogative. Parties need to have a variety of leaders so that they can learn and grow and evolve with changes. That said, I think that the time is right for us to revisit some of the principles and ideas that created the environment that has brought so many of you here. I want to focus on the basics, and to keep us thinking about what makes us unique.

4. WINNING – Or lack thereof . I don’t care about who has the most Congress seats, or who has the most members, or who has the largest e-peens. The metric I have always used to gauge success has been the number of people who tell me that they enjoy the party, that they are having fun, and that they feel a sense of community. Activity and happiness are my aims, all the rest is peripheral. That does not mean that we won’t compete – I can promise you that we will compete shrewdly and doggedly. We’ll just be doing it with a laugh!

Rodneyisms

Rodney is fond of saying in Legion that the only thing we need is a 'sh*t-doer'. Well I have some good news - I do sh*t! (Sanic, enjoy my swear). I am not running to hold a chair or keep the seat warm, I am 100% serious about this position.

I will be releasing a fully detailed account of how I intend to lead in the coming days. I welcome questions, suggestions, or criticisms from any party member, be they one day old or a thousand (If you're not in ESO, go bother Iain Keers - he loves it). Contact me in any way you feel comfortable, and I promise that I will respond.
