Interview with Aeros by Thor Jarglson

TJ: Now you don't really need an introduction. I've been subbed to your paper since the 1st week, and that was when I was living in the eUK... But for those that don't know you can you just tell us about your achievements

AER: Well, outside the pen, I was a member of the US military, and rose to the rank of a Platoon leader. However, I'd say my biggest acievement is my paper. It was really hard to rise above the pack in the US newsmedia which is notorious for its spam. Its now one of only a couple non-government papers in the top media

TJ: You've been very vocal with your criticism of the actions of the "Channers" But is it really that morally questionably? Isn't it just a part of the game?

AER: Morality has its place in this game. It obviously cannot be proven openly, but if you read the postings these guys made on external sites like Encyclopedia Dramatica you will note that meta gaming (hacking, multis etc) is something they have done before and are sure to do again. To me, this makes this war somewhat different then others. Its not just to throw back a pair of opportunistic countries. Its also for the Good of the eWorld as a whole

TJ: Okay… You mention that this war is different to any other but what makes it different from other PTO's, such as the one of Venezuela? Why is it now that you've decided to speak out?

AER: I have spoken out against PTO's in the past. The last big one would have been the Peruvian PTO by Polish militias. That really caused a stink, but in the end when it gained official government sanction I backed off. That is really the litmus I make. Does the PTO serve some grander purpose? This PTO is different from many others, in that it was done for the fun of it. Brazil and Argentina just took advantage of the situation after the fact. That was when I decided to start banging the drum. While the Venezuelen PTO was bad in my eyes, it did not really have the potential of being a game changer. This one does. South Africa is highly strategic. Though I did report on Venezuela when it happened all those months ago.

TJ: It's interesting that you mention it being strategic because won't Phoenix after there condemnation of the Channers force the Brazil and Argentina to back down?

AER: There is a difference between Condemning and backing down. Phoenix understands how bad it looks to be seen on the same side as a raiding party from the Chans. They know that these are groups that play games for the sole purpose of ruining it for the community already established. But that does not mean they won't give up such a strategic region willingly. I doubt they will tell Brazil and Argentina to back off, though they won't send much foreign help in the hope that the Brazilians can handle it on their own. That way they can say they have nothing to do with what is going on, and Phoenix still keeps South Africa.

TJ: Now on the other side of the scale what is EDEN doing? Can they be accused of complacent?

AER: EDEN is paying the price of Empire. THings were really easy when they only had to worry about their home regions. Now Spain, Poland and the USA are forced to look afrer foreign frontiers. In this way, EDEN is thinking similar to Phoenix. If Australia can do the heavy lifting, they won't need to move many troops and risk being caught out of position. With that said though, many civilians from EDEN and Sol countries are coming to Australia. The population of Western Australia alone has jumped by 300, all active. A good ratio when thinking numbers is every 1,000 citizens = 100 Active citizens. Australia's ratios are now on par with Argentina's now, if not better. And when we go up against Brazil, we have the Greek MPP. We can't expect heavy EDEN support early on in the campaign. Any alliance likes to see that a campaign is viable before comitting lots of resources.

TJ: Of course it's all very well plunging into a war but we must all come up with some idea of an end game. What do you think would be the best thing to do if Australia came out victorious over Brazil and Argentina?

AER: We have to remember this war is also about vital Australian security concerns. If things were left as they were, Australia would be surrounded by Phoenix. There was no choice but to plunge into war. Sitting still would have meant inviting disaster. The Complete victory would mean completely driving the Channers and South Americans out of South Africa, though we can leave home happy with simply securing the borders by getting some of South Africa back. This won't be quick though. Australia will have to hold South African territory until the next Congressional election on the 25th. We are going to be at this for awhile.

TJ: Well I think that's covers most things, any comments before we end?

AER: Just want to say Australia has come a long way. A few months ago Western Australia was occupied by Indonesia and Australia had absolutely no role in the world. This is the first time Australia has struck decisively to defend its interests, and that say's alot.

TJ: Thanks for the Interview Aeros and I hope that South Africa is freed

AER: So do I
