[EPIC] CP Primary Results
Kronos Q
The Egalitarian Party of Independent Canadians
With July 5th drawing near, EPIC has held our usual Country Presidential Primary vote once again, with a monkey is charge of overseeing the vote. This month, only one candidate answered my calls to appear on EPIC's Primary ballot, so it was a simple 'Vote of Confidence' instead of our usual Instant Run-Off voting system.
EPIC's Primary process consisted of a GoogleDocument Form (as seen here), where each EPIC member was individually messaged with instructions on how to cast their ballot. With this process, we have received 52 responses, which relates to 34% of all EPIC members.
The results? Well..
Yes: 43 (83
😵
No: 2 (4
😵
Undecided / Abstian: 7 (13
😵
Anonymous vote results can be seen here.
Thus, Sperry will be receiving the Egalitarian Party of Independent Canadians' nomination for the July 5th, 2011 Country Presidential Elections.
A thank you goes out to all EPIC members who voted in our Primary Vote, and a thank you to Sperry participating in our Primary. Good luck to all of the candidates on July 5th!
Yours Truly,
Kronos Q
July's Primary Elections Officer

No jsboutin on the primary ballot?
Both he and Sperry were on MOO's and Sperry still received 100% of the votes in his favour.
MOO will also be endorsing Sperry as our CP candidate on July 5th.
Dum spiro spero.
July 5 - Sperry for CP!

From what I understand jsboutin didn't answer Kronos' PM about the primaries and was therefore not put on the ballot.
@Treian, I believe that is correct. In my lurking of the EPIC forums, it would appear that Jsboutin did not make even the smallest effort to get support from EPIC. No posting on their forums and apparently not responding to KQ's PM.
To me it says a lot about a candidate that does not even try. I will admit that EPIC was likely to support Sperry anyways (seeing as he is Party President), but putting the effort in in a losing situation shows a strong character.
Jsboutin had a good presence on MOO's forum for the CP primary thread. I thought he responded to points rather well and made an effort to engage in discussion well before the vote was begun. It could be that he decided home turf was too much a long shot. Also being a military figure, he may have been focusing more on the invasion than the CP primaries. Sperry did provide the most feedback to questions in our forum so the results of our poll were somewhat expected.
Or maybe real life intervened.
@Plugson & @Stelawrat - Both are possible reasons, but seeing as the EPIC forum has been inviting candidates since the 27th when KQ first opened a thread for this month's elections. Therefore, if either the war effort or real life are preventing the 5 minutes that it takes to post on a forum or reply to a PM, then I how much time he has to be CP.
I really have no idea what is involved, or if 5 minutes is necessary as you say, Wally.
However, judging from Plugson's reply, I'm going to guess, that in order to make valid comments, to respond thoughtfully to questions or "points", to make an impact, it takes somewhat longer than 5 minutes.
Furthermore, I'm going to guess that, despite the fact that a well respected, unbiased and seasoned player such as Plugson, says,
"Jsboutin had a good presence on MOO's forum for the CP primary thread. I thought he responded to points rather well and made an effort to engage in discussion well before the vote was begun."
that is, having taken the necessary time, obviously more than 5 minutes, nevertheless,
"Sperry still received 100% of the votes in his favour."
that may have had something do do with Jsboutin's decision to forgo the EPIC CP primary.
I'm even more convinced that I'm correct in this belief when you yourself state, "I will admit that EPIC was likely to support Sperry anyways (seeing as he is Party President)".
No kidding? To be frank Wally, the whole tone of your post at 10:48 leaves me wondering much more about your character than Jsboutin's.
Your post at 17:41, pretty much confirms my thoughts, as I believe it's pretty clear from anyone's pov, except your own, why Jsboutin didn't participate and why his time was better spent elsewhere.
Whether that time was spent on real life responsibilities, or in game on eCanada's war effort, on diplomacy, on preparations for the CP run, is not only fine, but reasonable under the circumstances.
Personally, I'll be immensely disappointed if I find out that he was seen lurking in forums gathering, what shall I call it? CRAP! I'm drawing a blank! :{
Stela, just don't split the vote or Rolo will win.

Hey guys, the in-game role of the CP has much diminished after battles became free and at times automated. It's a great contest to keep us playing during the quieter times here, as well as a fine feather in one's cap/profile. However, the great strength of a CP now is to serve as a figurehead to direct people towards a specific cause: liberation through resistance and diplomacy. Let's not tarnish this purpose before it has a chance to get going. We've had enough of that the last few months.
