Income Tax.....25%....10%
Liberal country with new high taxes... hurray! Maybe with our liberal government we should make import taxation at 99% for all business branches? Uh oh and make bigger income and VAT taxations.. why? Because we can...
I understand that we have some costs generated by our running administration and that government wants to protect national companies and don't let others to sell their stuff on our market... but buying cheaper stuff - even if it is not produced by Egyptian people - is better for people of Egypt. Thanks to that they can save money and run their own businesses or spend more money for weapons (or self improvement).
We are little community and as such we cannot afford mercantile market policy as this will sooner or later result in high prices and monopoly in some (if not in all) product markets (and this will leads to market control by a few which never is good).
I support this government but sometimes (like today) I do not understand their vision or purpose which lie behind their actions...

Lunarek - i Assure you prices will stay low As local Companies will generate competition. if you read the last government release you will learn that the government is Giving out grants for new companies
government need cash, taxes are important for that.
also government and companies like mine we put low priced goods to market mostly with no profit expectation.
therefore there is always weapon at a good low price for the people of Egypt if they need to use it for Egypt it can be even free with governments support.
It's better for the domestic companies. Less competition so our companies can grow and so we can develop self-dependence.

Arab How can you say it is a socialist government, when Ahmed said companies will generate competition, Competition is free market capitalism. Socialism doesn't work with competition. Plus it is nearly impossible to have a real socialist government in erepublik...

Off course governments needs money.. well we all needs money. Ahmed you are saying that gov will give grants for new companies.. what is a point of that? Giving money is just buying a votes and creating rich foundation for corruption ... and this is the worst part of democracy in my opinion.
You can make awesome mercantile policy which will result (and it is resulting even now) in rapid grow of prices and improvement of market position for local weapons makers (or any other product in that matter), while anyone who do not produce weapons will be just paying more (because new taxes) and more (because of low competition as there is/will be no import to that country).
Honestly planned market is something what I hoped we left in history and we will never return to it... but instead of this I see plans of robbing common people of Egypt (because this changes will be good only for wealthy ones who already control few companies) and attempts to control congress. What is a meaning of "THE GOVERNMENT REQUIRES A CONGRESSMEN TO PROPOSE THIS LAW"... well if government want that law government can ASK for it... requiring is a part of despotic, autocratic and totalitarian governments and I thought that we are living here in democracy and enjoy our freedoms...

We are giving grants so people can start a weapon raw material company..so there is more compensation there so weapons are sold cheaper.

I am also skeptic to this kind of politics...
Anyway, I hope the government knows what it is doing (for better or for worse) and I hope we won't regret it soon...
