[EN] Looking for Feedback: Currency for Ads

Hello fellow citizens,

during the last days I was working on an update of the current articles available at eRepublik-Deutschland.de, especially the articles about "how to earn money and gold".

The current version seems to be helpful for most of the new players (at least I get a positive feedback most of the time), but:
- the rewards in currency aren't that high
- sometimes you have to wait quite long until you get your money
- there are no ways to earn currency on a really regular basis
- you are too dependent on e.g. streaming time or the time in general.

You see: There are several problems with which you and especially new players have to deal with. Because of that I gathered some ideas which are also used in other web and mobile games: Rewarded Ads

[x] What are "Rewarded Ads"?

Rewarded Ads create the possibility for users to get e.g. "premium currency" by watching videos (ads), applying to newsletters, participating in surveys or downloading apps.

[x] How could players benefit from that?

I think it's quite simple: Players earn currency without needing to invest their real money. Therefore they are able to improve their life in eRepublik without using any reallife money. Houses, Weapons, Food and even Gold (think of Training Ground Upgrades) become affordable and available for new players.

[x] How would it work?

Players would need to register at eRepublik-Deutschland.de and link their eRepublik and eRepublik-Deutschland.de accounts (just like you already do it when you want an API key).

Afterwards players are able to perform the actions mentioned above (watching videos, newsletters etc) and get the currency added onto their eRepublik-Deutschland.de account. As soon as they've reached a certain amount (e.g. 5.000 currency) they are able to request a payout to their linked account.

Within the next 7 days the player receives the currency (maybe even faster and within minutes if I automate the whole payout-process).

Now you ask yourself: But how does eRepublik-Deutschland.de get the currency? That's easy: Through the monetary market. For every of your actions I receive a specific amount of real money as exchange. I am using this money to:
- buy Gold from eRepublik and
- sell it on the monetary market

You can see that I am acting as some kind of middleman, exchanging the real money into eRepublik currency.

[x] What are the rewards and how much do YOU (Master_rg) earn?

The rewards depend on the following things:
- the specific action (watching a video, applying to a newsletter etc)
- the current goldprice at the monetary market
- of course the price of gold (for real money) at eRepublik

I did a first calculation (approximation) and you should get about
- 1.000 up to 2.000 currency for applying to a newsletter or raffle
- 1.000 up to 1.750 currency for downloading and playing an app on your mobile
- 1.000 up to 1.500 currency for surveys

I am planning to keep about 5% to 15% of the money I earn (lets call it "tax"), which will be used to finance the server and, of course, to build up a buffer in order to react flexible on changes on the monetary market.

Of course: The higher this buffer becomes, the lower the "tax" will be in future.

Example: You register to a newsletter.
The internal reward is 1$ (after the taxes I have to pay here in Germany for that). I will keep 5 Cents and the other 95 Cents will be calcuated into currency by using the current gold price set by eRepublik and the currently available exchange offers at the monetary market.

[x] But you can SCAM us!

Please keep in mind that eRepublik-Deutschland.de is marked as a project of my small business enterprise registered in Germany - therefore I got no intensions to scam you as I am also running several other (non-community and real profit) projects besides eRepublik-Deutschland.de.

It should be clear that I don't need any negative public reviews about my company.

[x] Are you adding more Ads to the website?

Of course not, this "Rewarding Ads" System would be added to its own category. There won't be any other ads on the website, just as I have promised it in the articles before.

Update #1 - 2016-09-19

First of all thanks for your messages, ideas and discussions regarding this topic. Overall I can say that the feedback is quite positive. I created a ticket at eRepublik some days ago in order to be "safe" as I don't want any problems with this service.

Long story short: It's approved.

I will start implementing this feature in this week, maybe we can see some first results on the upcoming weekend.

Once again: Thanks for your support! I hope this feature will help as many players as possible to get some advantages without investing real money.

As I told you: It is just a first and basic idea!

I would appreciate any feedback about this topic in order to get a first echo from the community, so please feel free to leave a comment and give an insight into your opinion.

It might fall into "external advertising", even if you're not promoting your own stuff, because it would mean less people buying gold.

btw, havent registered but since you have some process to link erepublik.com and erepublik-deutschland accounts it would be GREAT if you develop an oauth system so we can verify erep accounts without doing the [sometag]xxxx[sometag]

That would need several changes at the side of eRepublik and I don't think that this will happen in future, I'm sorry 🙁

But: Feel free to create a support ticket and let eRepublik implement such a system. If it's there I would support it of course.

But:
-I don't know much about ad market but isn't 1000 cc too much? It's like 2.5 Gold = aprx. 1.11 Euro if players buy cheapest gold pack.

-Also from other games with similar system I have noticed that some/many offers are region/country locked. It may be frustrating that some players has ad/survey/app offers for their region/country and others don't.

-Also a daily cap would be usefull + payout limit should be higher (at least 1 x 9.99 euro pack in market) so less players starts to make bots to milk you.

Regarding the 1.000cc:
It's a first approximation shown by the provider for such a system. Of course the values can be lower or higher in the end. And as I mentioned already: There can be very lucrative offers and, of course, some that don't offer such a high reward - it all depends on the advertiser.

Regarding the country / region lock:
Indeed, but that's something we would have to deal with. But of course I am looking for some more providers for this project already, in order to fight this problem.

Regarding bots which milk my service:
The whole payment process is handled by the specific providers, that way "multi accounts" don't really have an impact as I don't have to deal with them first. But of course I may increase the payout limit if the payment provider starts to cancel payments of users due to multi accounts or other malicious behavior.

Of course I am always looking for the most lucrative way, but it also depends on the available offers at eRepublik.

... and if I think of the "latest company upgrade offer" which is months ago.. well.. they may decrease the amount of "special offers" (including lucrative packs) even more.

I suggest make a bid system for registered, trustable players for your packs. They can bid, you can maximize your income for your sellable packs. Imo this is a most lucrative way.

And after, with your experience, you can make a bis service for anybody's pack. P2P.

Because that's what you'll be doing. Giving currency in exchange for you receiving the "tax", all while promoting other products / games that might be competition to eRepublik Labs app games.

Selling currency is already "allowed" because people buy packs and sell them for CC. Plato knows about it and simply ignores it. As for competition, all the other browser/mobile games have ads promoting similar games and they're doing great. Ads are not the issue, the actual content or in our case, lack of content is what's killing it.

Difference is that Plato gets all the money out of the war stash, and in this case a player gets a "tax" and is giving currency in exchange of it.

Agreed. However, in this case the money appears out of the blue, someone else is providing a service that ultimately generates income to Plato, since the web admin has to spend money on the game. For Plato's sake someone is buying a war stash and nothing else, since nothing else is happening on erepublik.com. There is no harm done since eRepublik is not offering ads

Ersetze das "Gold" durch "Packs" und du machst deutlich mehr CC.
Ich würde dir zum Beispiel regelmäßig 100k (~250 Gold) für ein Tycoon Pack für 9,90€ zahlen.

Wenn du nämlich CC brauchst macht es keinen Unterschied,ob du erst Gold kauft oder Packs für CC zu nem besseren Kurs.

I have problems with the ads at your pages, even when I disabled my AdBlock, and had to block the scripts. 🙁 May be it's related with my opt-out of all google ad campaigns at their official site.

which browser are you using and does it work with a different one?

even though you opt-out of all google ad stuff at their website, you should still see ads (they are just not individualized anymore). some anti-virus programs may also act like an adblock so you may try to disable yours for 5 minutes and test the eRepublik-Deutschland.de again.

Maybe the tracking protection of Firefox is blocking Google AdSense in your case.

Probably it's a bug with AdBlocker itself. When it's completely disabled, ads are shown normally. If it's disabled only for erep deutsch,, ads aren't shown and the nag appears.
