Dear eRepublik players,
I would like to write this open letter because I receive too many messages from the players of eFYROM trying to spread their Propaganda.

The dispute between Greece and Former Yugoslav Republik of Macedonia (FYROM) is about the name and the history related to Macedonian ancestor history.

FYROM is a country located in the north part of Greece which declared independance in 1991 from Serbia(Yugoslavia). It is an official member of the United Nations since 1993 with the name of the Former Yoguslav Republik of Macedonia[Source Wikipedia].

The name Macedonia derives from the Greek Μακεδονία (Makedonía). Their name, Μακεδόνες (Makedónes), derives ultimately from the ancient Greek adjective μακεδνός (makednós), meaning "tall, taper" which shares the same root as the noun μάκρος (mákros), meaning "length" in both ancient and modern Greek[Source Wikipedia].

Macedonian worship the same god as Greeks. Their religion was based in the twelve gods who were living in the mount Olympus.

There is not any ancient source prooving that Macedonians were not Greek. On the contrary, Stabon, the great Historian, Geographer and Philosopher, wrote "Macedonia is Greece too" (Ζ-11). In addition, we can find more evidences in Herodotous (the "Father" of History), Arianos (Alexandrou Anabasis), Callisthenes (Callisthenes B 32. 14 ed. Kroll), Plutarch, Isocrates (Isoc. 5. 108 and 154), Thucydides (Thuc. 2. 80. 5-7; 2. 81. 6; 4. 124.1), Ptolemy and Polybius.

Ancient Macedonians were members of the Aphictiony of Delphi and participate to the Olympic Games in Olympia. Non-Greeks did not have the right to participate on the above.

The capital names and the toponyms of Macedonia were Greek and the etymology of them is Greek. For example; Pella (means Stone in Greek and was the capital of the Ancient Macedonian Kingdom), Thessaloniki (due to the Thessalian Victory in the Battle of Crocus in 353 BC), Phillip II of Macedon (derived form Greek: Φίλιππος Β' ὁ Μακεδών — φίλος (phílos) "friend" + ἵππος (híppos) "horse") was the Father of the Alexander the Great and King of Macedonia and so on. All the archeologicals artifacts found in Pella, Dion, Sindos, Vergina etc. reveals the history. Also, archeologists found inscriptions written only in Greek and Latin(due to the Roman Occupation).

In 1993, the President of FYROM, Kiro Gligorov, said the following:
"We are Slavs. We don't have any connection with Alexander" [ Youtube video ]

Georgi Stardelov, Academic from FYROM, mentioned the following
"The key substratum is the Slavic one and i provide massive arguments for that, according to my opinion, a column of a national identity is, actually, the language and our language is a Slavic language, or it enters in the group, in the family of Slavic language." [Youtube video 😇2 +]

Also, visiting a school in Skopia, we can clearly see maps of the "Great Macedonia". We also questioned students about the borders of their country. They clearly said that their country ends in Larisa/Chalkidiki which are places in Greece. [Video source / FYROM President's answer and the Greek's Journalist answer]

Thus, eRepublik players (even you Plato, Greek Philoshoper) I am asking to call them by their name, Former Yugoslav Republik of Macedonia / FYROM.

La disputa entre eGrecia y el anterior presidente de eFYROM es sobre el nombre y la historia relacionada con la antigua historia de eMacedonia.

FYROM es un país localizado en la parte norte de Grecia que se declaró su independencia en 1991 de Serbia (Yugoslavia).
