[Embassy of eCroatia] GET TO KNOW eCROATIA AND RL CROATIA

I've been appointed as new ambassador of eCroatia to eBrazil.In this first article I wish to present to the people of eBrazil,eCroatia and RL Croatia.

First lets get to official matters...

Current status on the eCroatia battlefiel😛



After the peace treaty with Serbia (signed for three months),Croatia started an offensive on Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) with the goal of liberating Italian regions.Macedonia pushed back with heavy tanking,and Serbia moved in from the back to create a buffer zone,taking regions of Apulia and Molise.The other night we started to move north toward Slovakia but RW in Burgeland failed due to help to Hungary from Spanish and Serbian forces.Status quo is maintained at the moment,but this will soon change.



In this next part of the article I wish to present to you RL Croatia,its people,history and culture.I believe this is an interestig subject for those who haven't read about RL countries of eRepublik.And I think there should be more articles like this so players get to know where people sitting behind their computers come from. 😉



HISTORY:

7th – 19th century


The arrival of Croats

Croats came to the areas of today Croatia in 7th century.First they founded two states.Pannonian Croatia,and Littoral Croatia.Also known as Red Croatia and White Croatia.They were unified in 925 B.C. by first Croatian king Tomislav(910-92😎 who bared the title rex Croatorum(lat.),or King of Croatia.

After defeating Bulgarian tzar Simeon I. who ocuppied Serbia before the attack on Croatia,Croatian borders were secure for a time to come.
Croatian Kingdom reached its peak during the rule of king Petar Krešimir (1058-1074) and Zvonimir.

Zvonimir was the last king of Croatia,and there is an interesting legend regarding him.Because of conflict with Croatian nobility,they assasinated him.His last words were:''Because of this betrayil I curse you not to have a king of your own blood for a 1000 years.''This curse will almost come true,as Croatia will not have king of its own blood not for a 1000,but exactly 900 years.

In year 1097 on battlefield near Gvozd Mountain against Hungarian Empire,most of the Croatian noblemen were killed,which led to Croatia and Hungary entering a personal union under hungarian king Coloman.This document from 1102 is known as Pacta conventa.Personal union is defined as two countries maintaining their independence,but sharing a common king.


In the years to come Europe is facing an invasion by Ottoman Empire and the spread of islam.In this conflict Croatia lost a lot of its territory,but was never defeated.For which the pope gave her the title the fore-walls of Christianity(lat. anti-muralis Christianis).
Croats also fought under Napoleon who sai😛''If I would have a 100 000 Croats I could conquer the entire world''.From this time a neck tie was invented.Croatian soldiers under Napoleon wore red scarfs tied in a specific knot to distinguish themselves,which became fashonable in France and from there it spread all over the Europe and later the world.French word for a tie,is ''cravate'',from the word ''Croate''.

Croatia later becomes a part of Habsburg Monarchy(todays Austria) which is later renamed into Austro-Hungarian Empire.

20th Century

After the WWI and the fall of Austro-Hungarian Empire Croatia joins into Kingdom of Serbs,Croats and Slovenians,which later became Kingdom of Yugoslavia.At the begining of WWII Kingdom of Yugolsavia is defeted by Germany with in a week.And a puppet state is put in place called Independent State of Croatia,which was divided into two occuping zones,German and Italian.


In 1943 Partizan movement is founded in Croatia,which in the end defeated Germany and with fighters from Croatia,Serbia,Bosnia and Herzegovina,Slovenia,Montenegro,Macedonia (FRYOM) founded Republic of Yugoslavia.


In 1991 Croatia declares its independece,but her borders from the constitution of Yugoslavia from 1974 are disputed by Serbs.They organize a mutuny in Croatia while Yugoslav National Army attacks from the east.Croatia is victorious in 1995 and the war is over.

21st century

After long negotiations for 6 years with European Union,Croatia is to become a full member of European Union on July 1st 2013.



Facts about Croatia:

Croatia is a small country with population of 4.5 million people.Its an interesting fact that there is a same number of Croats living all over the world.USA,Australia,Germany,Canada contain high population of Croats.The highes one is in Bosnia and Herzegovina,where Croats are one of three constitutive nations.South America also has a decent number of Croats,most of them moved in 1945.

Croatia is a tourism oriented country,having a coast with over 1200 islands,and the pure blue Adriatic Sea makes her one of the places you have to visit if you are in Europe.And also a lot of beautiful women,I guess thats a big tie to Brazil.Damn your women are beautiful.I'm coming to Rio de Jainero as soon as I can,for the carneval. 😉



Fun facts about Croatia:

There is nothing that a Croat likes more then to drink coffee.No one buys coffee to go,because drinking coffee is a ritual that takes at least an hour,preferbly two hours.Every town has its ''špica'' which is usually near main square of every town or on the coastal area ''riva'' where is a big cluster of coffee places,and you are lucky if you can find a seat on a Saturday because that is the time for a mass coffee drinking.And even during work days those coffee places are full.

Croats also have a great tradition in cuisine,depending on the region,it differs.Slavonia likes pork.All kinds of delicaties come from here.Most famous is kulen.

Pigs collon filled with selected pork and dried on smoke.Slavonian Croats like pork since those areas were pillaged by Ottoman army,and since muslims don't eat pork,people here were sure that their food supplies won't get robbed by Ottomans.

In Lika and Gorski Kotar,most famous is the lamb meat.Lamb is rotated near the fire for 5 hours,and then its ready to eat.In Dalmatia,fish and all kind of sea food will make your pallet tremble.One of the most famous,octopuss under ''peka''.Peka is traditional way of baking.
