[DMV4CP] The Brains to "Win" the Game

Day 2,633, 12:02 Published in Canada Canada by Kaminarinote

You’ve seen the heart speak for DMV, now let’s see the mind.

Tomorrow is the monthly CP elections of every nation in eRepublik, and of course it warrants an article from everyone still conscious enough to write – so here I am. I’m proud to announce that DMV3 has won the support of the CPF for official candidature, but its startlingly low numbers reveal an important and startling fact about us, and that’s that we’re all dead. This comes as no surprise, but it does underline the necessity of a strong candidate to lead us forward. While at this point all countries (except the six or seven functional ones, which now serve only to take turns being empires) are shambling patchworks limping toward end times, eCanada risks delving one level below and joining eDenmark in the twilight zone of dead communities. However, if eJapan has taught us anything, it’s that a fallen nation can resurrect itself into health if given the opportunity and effort it requires. The difference is that eJapan is essentially the Ship of Theseus, and we’re more Star Trek: The Next Generation. It’s time to make Picard captain again.

While the heir apparent to IBB’s most recent reign seems to be DMV3, we must not get complacent and just assume he will be CP. Elections can always change suddenly, and it’s possible he can lose. Not likely, but that’s really only because the eCanadian people are typically able to vote for the right candidate. Usually. Sometimes. In any case, I urge you all to at least show up to vote tomorrow. In eRep, as in life, the voter turnout is the health of the democracy, and by extension the state. Even if the outcome seems inevitable, at least show you’re still alive so that plans can be made around that activity. Give us all hope by giving yourself some.

In the end, we’ll need to discuss our goals. We all know Canada will never “win” eRepublik. I think our goal should be instead to at least stick around until the servers are shut down and the party stops, with as many regions as we are able to harvest back. This should at least be all the provinces of Canada proper, with the occasional foray into other territories if possible. DMV can accomplish this, because he’s accomplished this from worse conditions. Let’s be clear, here. The only reason other candidates are even running is out of duty to old politics, as if they matter anymore. We haven’t had it good since DMV was president, and we won’t after he’s gone. So vote for the one who gets results. And if you’re seriously holding onto grudges, I urge you to either abandon them or – at the very least – suppress them for the sake of eCanada. It’s clear that your grudges are built on the premise that you, as far as this game is concerned, care deeply about the country. If you care, make the right choice. Squabble and divide when we have something to squabble and divide over.

Godspeed,
Kaminarninote
