[DemNL] Christmas sweets giveaway!
Janty F
Greetings, citizens of the eNetherlands, and party members of Democratisch Nederland
slowly but surely Christmas is coming, and during the times of winter, it is important to keep warm with some nice hot tea or punch, while nibbling on some of your favourite Christmas sweets. Atleast that's how I will spend my Christmas (given the fact I spent two weekends helping family with baking and I am not leaving all of this work getting eaten by my young brother)... and I would like to share the taste of Christmas with you as well during the upcoming weeks.
And since I cannot bring you the taste in person due to distance (though if you ever travel through Czech Republic and get hungry, do let me know!), I will atleast do so by in-game food giveaway. And while some of you might have already received some bananas from the government (and if you did not, go and take them!), I am now bringing some sweet dessert as well
🙂.
So, all you need to do, is to be Dutch citizen commenting the article, and you can expect a 150 Q3 food package in your mail. However, there are extra bonuses you can get:
- Are you active DemNL member? That's another +150 Q3 food for you.
- Do you want to share your favourite Christmas sweet (vanilla rolls for me), or even give me a recipe to try next year)? That's another bonus of +150 Q3 food for you.
So do not forget to pick up your Christmas sweets
😉!

First!
Some sweet treats for you 😉
If only you really knew this player....
Mentalist is cool, we had him in Cuba too, and I trust him 😉
hahaha I warned Mentalist for you, NOT you for Mentalist. Mentalist is in deed a trustful player! You are not!
Indeed, my ability to not hate Macedonia makes me extremely untrustful!
[removed]
I would, if your words made any coherent sense. Oh well, maybe under next article :/
Treats!
Much better than those from Plato!
I bet they are!

All foods are good foods. 🙂 Cheers and happy hols to everyone!
Happy holidays to you - and I hope you will enjoy them here in eNetherlands 🙂 .
Those cookies look awesome!
My favourite Christmas sweets? I don't think I really have given this any special consideration.
Maybe the "little" meringue cakes we usually got at my grandmother's? But once you've eaten one of those, you're getting difficulty to eat the Christmas dinner, which is sort of a shame...
Probably Christmas is a bit too much centered around eating?
Yeah, during Christmas food is everywhere - maybe that's why we have tradition in our country, that if you do not eat until evening during Christmas Eve, you will see a golden pig. So far, nobody succeeded!
Either way, food incoming your way 😇 !
Food! Food! Food!
My dCoC cannot go hungry during Christmas!

Give up 'em sweets. My grandma usually makes stoofperen not sure if that is considered a sweet.
https://www.thedutchtable.com/2010/12/stoofpeertjes-stewed-pears.html
Oh my, this actually looks both a bit healthy and the best possible way to serve a pear I have seen yet!
We typically use specific kinds of pears ("stoofperen") for these recipes, that are different from the ones we eat as fruit. But I guess if you want to try this abroad those pear species are probably not available, as they're typically terrible to eat as fruit. 😉
It's not necessarily a Christmas dish, but it is considered a delicacy, so typically eaten on special occasions.
We have a saying in Dutch which is related to how tasty pears are, if I translate it literally into English: "to be left with the baked pears". Originally this would have been the case if everybody left a party before dinner was finished, i.e. the party was not a success. And the best part of the meal would be left over...
Great action! Cheers to you all!
Happy holidays to you too o/ !
Almost time for Oliebollen!
That looks like something even I could manage to do on my own!
Here in Limburg we have oliebollen with Sint Maarten (which we celebrate the weekend before 11 November, never on the 11th itself) and of course on old year's eve.
Let me share this Dutch recipe for
Morning Glory Muffins (Heavenly Hash) 12 stuks.
2 kopjes volkorenmeel
1,25 kopjes rietsuiker
2 theelepels bakpoeder
2 theelepels kaneel
1/2 theelepel (maag-) zout
- Alles door elkaar scheppen
Erbij doen:
2 kopjes geraspte worteltjes
1/2 kopje rozijnen
1/2 kopje fijngehakte noten (zonnebloempitjes)
1/2 kopje cocos
1 gesnipperde appel
- Alles door elkaar scheppen
- Appart mixen:
3 eieren
1 kopje olie
2 theelepels vanille
- Dit door de massa scheppen.
- Vormpjes vullen.
- Oven voorverwarmen op 160 graden C.
- 20 minuten.
A few spelling mistakes to upset google translate? Although even after removing them Google Translate makes a few weird mistranslations. 😉
I found a very similar recipe on
https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/20995/easy-morning-glory-muffins/
so I guess the English audience can use that one.
Actually, I am surprised I understand parts of the recipe without translation. "rozinjen" is almost Czech enough 😃 .
IJ is normally one letter in Dutch. See also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IJ_(digraph)
So if it is at the beginning of a sentence or name, we capitalize both letters. If you split it up you definitely start confusing us... 😉
But rozijn = raisin = raisin sec = Rosine = rosinka, i.e. very similar in many languages (Dutch, English, French, German, Czech). It comes from French, the "sec" part means dried, as "raisin" can be both grapes or raisins in French, and the default is grapes.
Also in Dutch a few centuries ago rozijn could be used to refer to grapes, but this usage has gone extinct.
Ho Ho Ho! Happy Christmas Happy Holidays everybody.
Happy holidays o/ !

Watch out, stalking is a crime. Beign stupid is not though, so you might be okay 😉
Either way - Happy Holidays to Southern Macedonia, or wherever you live o/ !

It is pronounced "Netherlands" - just a tip, Dutch people might not like mixing those two terms together 😉

Do I? Or do you just think it, and wish it was true?
I know answer to that one o/
I guess it's you who should know what is true... calling Greece as "South Macedonia" is an insult. Be cautious of what country / nation you insult!
Isn't Thessaloniki a Greek city in southern Macedonia?
There is not region southern Macedonia in Greece. Only Macedonia region exists in GR. It's up to you to troll or to know history! All your words "baptized" in expired poison and unhistorical topics and makes me happy to discover unhistorical puppets! makes me laugh!
merry XMas
'Hypocrite' comes from the Greek word 'hypokrites', which means "an actor."
If you want the more modern meaning: it came via the French route, from church Latin, where a "ypocrite" was a "false pretender to virtue or religion". Of course ultimately it entered Latin from Greek, but the meaning changed in translation...
Thessaloniki is in Central Macedonia by the way, not Southern. There's also a West and East Macedonia.
FYROM apparently will soon be called the "Republic of North Macedonia". I think I agree with the Greek point of view that just calling it the Republic of Macedonia makes no sense, as most of what used to be Macedon is in Greece.
Similarly in the Netherlands we have a province called North-Brabant, while Belgium has a province called Brabant, both of which combined roughly used to form the Duchy of Brabant. It seems there are more Norths than Souths...
be careful ! the author of this article is going to delete your comment as he did with mine comments!
I think Greece should rather solve more important problems (like how to pay debts, how to actually make people work during afternoon, or how to make sure fascist parties do not get such a broad support) instead of names of their neighbouring countries. It's not like it will make their lives objectively better, ya know.
Also, Brabant is one of my favourite EUIV nations, because of their wealth 😃 .
