Dan/naD Wilshire – The Campaign for a new Switzerland

The Introduction

Let the controversy commence! I Dan/naD Wilshire am running in Switzerland’s Country Presidential election! For some of you, this will feel like Déjà vu! 573 days ago I awoke as the President of Switzerland. Last time round I wrote 7 articles in my campaign for presidency. This time I will write Three.

The question is everyone’s mind must be “why?” While floating from Country to country I never took my eye off Switzerland. I am subscribed to many Swiss newspapers so I was always checking up on how Switzerland was doing. Being an SOP in #eSwitzerland also helps as I was around for many interesting conversations on the IRC. I have seen the activity collapse during the hardship of the PTO. I have seen everyone pull together to ensure that the country has been kept safe. However, since the passing of the PTO, the activity has remained low. Along with this the country seems to been heading towards breaking point. I am hearing talks of “sides”. Now there is nothing wrong with having different sides in politics, it can make things a lot more interesting. However there seem to be rifts growing. This is not what we want to see. This is why I am running for CP. I am an outsider. I have no bias towards either side. This sense of neutrality is what I believe may be needed for the rough road that Switzerland faces ahead.

The Campaign Begins

A policy of participation – Activity is the key. Not only will it spread power, it will help with player retention. My major issue is activity. #eSwitzerland is mainly dead, it’s a fight to get a conversation going and even then it’s probably the same 5 people every time. We need a policy of participation. The forum was our greatest asset. However the “PTO” caused former governments to decide on disbanding it. We need to bring it back; it pulls everyone together and offers a level of transparency. We need to connect with our new players. We will never be a country who gets 100+ new citizens a day. We need to improve our retention rate. If 5 players join we need to get at least 3 of them to level 20. This is not going to be easy. We have to make this game interesting for people to play. The Education quiz is a good start but much more needs to be done.

Spend smart - Our second problem is our spending habits. We used to have millions of cc in the bank. Now we are in debt. We had a strict policy of only spending what would be useful, now we have a policy of “spend for the sake of spending”. We need to curtail our spending and run a surplus. Now.

We need to fund programs that help people. There is no point providing weapons to players for battles that do not matter. We need to spend smart. We need our investments to in the end come back to us in some shape or form, whether that is in the form of a stronger fighter or spending within our local market (jobs, purchases off the market etc.).

The Military problem - Thirdly we need to bring back our military. We have fighters, but we lack any real organisation. We need to pull our forces together in a central unit where everyone knows where to fight. Or at least a command structure in place in current units to ensure that DO’s are for the right battles (the eUK has a great system which I would consider adopting).

The time is now – This is not all, this is just a taste of more to come. I will have a more detailed manifesto come out a few days before the election.

Final Notes

Well this is me, putting myself forward for president. I am looking to put together a large cabinet. If you are interested please message me. I am willing to train up new players into ministers and use the vast knowledge of our more experienced members in the community.

Thank you all for your time.

Dan/naD Wilshire – Today, tomorrow, forever, Switzerland!
