[CP] National Shield, War and Gold
eSouth African Presidency
National Shield Tournament
South Africa ended up ranked 64 in the National Shield tournament. We gathered in 700G by reaching 200% of our national goal. We narrowly missing an additional 300G by 5 million influence. Crying shame, really. The national goals were based upon damage potential -- so it was always going to be tough for South Africa. Our average player is quite old, but only ranks level 25 (vs 29 globally). A brief look at egov4you shows why we failed to perform better.
40% of South Africans do not fight at all. About another 20% barely manage the Daily Order. We are in the middle of an epic resistance struggle and this has stirred perhaps 10% more of the population into activity. We are in deep trouble and need new people. Constant activity is the only cure.
Invasion B
The shield prize is a double-edged sword too. We won the 1,000,000 damage shield (Q1) but so did Brazil. While it creates a small speed-bump, it has dramatic consequences for South Africa's liberation. It means we need to find an average of 16 million more damage per battle against Brazil. Sure they need the same in return, but we are looking at 318 citizens versus 15,736 squatters. They also an average experience level of 10. That is a very young and growing population with 130 daily births to to our 1. If we sit back we die by being out-bred into irrelevance.
I call on the nation to urgently focus on growth strategies or we go extinct.
War
We need to constantly keep Brazil under pressure. I know its expensive, but slacking off becomes a tacit acceptance that they have legitimacy in Africa. our constant struggle sends a clear message to Brazil and our allies that South Africans do not roll over.
Finances
Financially we are looking good with a projected surplus despite the strong war focus. I was hoping for the 200% goal reward of 300G to feed directly back into citizen pockets, but at least our growth programs are all funded. The budget is in Congress and we are confident it will pass Congressional oversight.
See you in the trenches.
Conclusion
We are holding out okay, but need directly engage. This war will only be won through dedication and stubborn refusal to be overwhelmed. Financially we all the pieces in place. We have most of the allies we need lined up. All we need is you to be there where gaps in our offence appear to carry the day. In a community this size; every citizens who participates is a hero.
Amandla, Awethu. Power to the people.

I think average strength of citizens is of more consequence than level. I have a relatively high level for example but low strength. So I can fight and kill 100 enemies a day, yet only contribute a small amount of damage. Unfortunately I do not have the funds or the gold to train my strength much. A bit of a catch-22 since the more I fall behind, the smaller my chances of earning gold in battle. And the less gold, the less I can train to make me more damage-effective in battles. The patriot medal also goes slower. One of the few ways to still make some gold is by chasing the Merc medal in fact. BH medals are now all but out of reach for most. The economy and the market is tough also, so profits come small and slow. Increasing strength for proper damage contributions are becoming harder by the day if one is not paying real money in the game and most citizens don't.
And I meant extra gold besides Hard Worker or Super Soldier of course, both which are pretty standard for everybody.
To be fair, Brazil has an active population of around ~1700 players of whom only about 50~60% is fighting too. On that point of view, eBR being erased by TWO+CUA was kind of nice to get the population involved... Guess that goes for all the countries.
