[CP] LONG LIVE THE KING

Day 3,332, 03:34 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by CptChazbeard

Ahoy thar!

Firstly I hope you've all enjoyed the festive period and wish you all a happy New Year.

I finally have a day of doing jack sheet and the missus is back at work so thought I might as well write an article, recap on the term and say my farewells.

Before this term it was maintained that we would seek a meaningful war, one that gave us direct action and at the same time benefited our allies. In aiding the liberation of France I believe we achieved this goal and the rousing victory against Argentina justified getting involved.
Both congress and the government were more than aware that the situation we currently find ourselves in would be a likely one, namely an American-Finnish invasion and wipe, however we still decided to go ahead and as I said at the time I was proud of the eUK for doing so, rather than sit on the fence counting the governments coffers and wondering what to do with it.

It was an intense couple of weeks of fighting that bought us and our allies closer together. The situation changed on an almost daily basis, indeed I think I binned three articles because by the time I was almost done they'd become irrelevant.

The joint offensive against Argentina, in which we played a key role, was a fantastic demonstration of what can happen if we and our allies club together, pool our resources and listen to each other. The communication between the allies was something to behold even if hard to keep up with sometimes. (Anyone who's been involved in the telegram app will know you can blink and miss 100 messages!)

It was however a hard fought and expensive campaign that, though emboldened by victory, left us weak in resources...

With absolutely no resources of value to them and no love for Latin American countries other than utilising them against Spain, one may wonder why the Great American Bald Vulture came swooping down to pick the flesh from the eUK's bones.

A cynic would say...cos they said so.

Congress, and by proxy half our active population, are aware that last term they made an approach about joining the dark side. Although not explicitly stated it was heavily implied that the deal would be “Become our bitches, drop most if not all your allies...or we will wipe you”. So here we are on the receiving end of a three way Christmas Gang-Bang only Mrs Claus could dream of.

After attack after attack at the hands of Pacifica we could be excused for not wanting to jump into bed with 'the enemy', after all they hardly seduced us in Bondesque fashion, more threatened us in a back alley wearing a balaclava and holding a knife.
Acting like a cowardly fat bully that hasn't gotten his way, we are either witnessing some bizarre interpretation of diplomacy or Pacifica is hanging on to relevance and life by a thread right now.

There was another part of the deal that makes this invasion all the more sad

We've been accused by some members of the Irish government of abandoning them and that they disagree with our current Foreign Affairs policy. It happens especially when we see alliance shifts. Croatia for example stepped away from the eUK but Ireland remained MPP'd with them. As happened with the Ukraine events like these eventually means we end up with different MPP stacks and then sitting on opposite sides of the fence. Communication is a two way thing however dahlings and my door has always been open.

Whereas with the Ukraine we both looked at the scenario and drifted apart with no ill feeling, Ireland attacked with cries of killing Brits, uniting Ireland and making other references to a terrible period of RL animosity between the two nations. Though limited mainly to a few it still reeks a bit when those few are in government.

As for abandoning them. Part of the deal the US were trying to cut with us was a pledge that we could wipe Ireland and keep them wiped. Doubtless Ireland would put up staunch resistance but still...we hope you appreciate your new allies as much as they clearly care about you.

Our allies are up for a scrap and doubtless will be there for us again. The decision was made not to act until the new year (so realistically after the upcoming election) and if the shoe was on the other foot I'd be saying the same thing with it being the holidays.
We made a play to take back regions with some support but ultimately that was a half arsed attempt to see what happened and we were beaten back.

We've shown what we can do united behind a common goal and I've full confidence that this month will see one hell of a fight back.

As often the case activity in congress is mainly limited to a few but regardless it has been active, pretty sure there's been activity almost every day which is minor miracle compared to months where we have a burst of activity after the elections and then silence until the next one.

The reappearance of Alfagrem is a welcome one. The most frequent complaint in congress is a lack of explanation or debate pertaining to proposals and whether you agree with him or not, Alfa is setting an example as to how congressmen should conduct themselves especially when it comes to taxation. I hope this sets the precedence for things to come.

I have been disappointed by the lack of government articles and take the blame for that. I should have led by example rather than hide away in messages hoping others would pick up the media presence.

I'm a strong believer in direct communication though and running alongside congress mails we have The Hellfire Club. It's not been quite as active as before but that could be down to a) It's the holidays and b) We just got dicked.
Having our commanders, most active fighters and RW hunters in groups with information being sent directly to them is still something I would urge the next CP to maintain and even extend it to allied MUs and governments.

I'm not sure how this works but according to Wayne, as I was first in the Dictator seat and then handed over power to Addaway, I'm actually to blame for any wrong doing as I set an unstoppable chain of events in motion.

I don't know exactly what happened, how much was involved (I've heard figure from 500k-2million to 'unaccountable') or what exactly was done with every last penny. What I do know is that Wayne is an asset. Controversial and detestable to some, we need players of his ilk in this game to make what happens of the battlefield all the more interesting. Much like how we need his counterfoils (How do you like them Apples).

Many of us hark on about when the game was more interesting and even if Keers is still looking up from the Hell in which is inevitably resides, deep down he'd miss the likes of Goku and BigAnt.

I know also that Wayne and his cronies have contributed far more to this eNation than has ever been taken. I've had a friendship with Wayne that runs back to since I first started out so I guess I could be counted as a crony of his myself.

Though I can't put an exact figure on it, looking at my account I'm roughly 8million down through RWs, supplies and COs over the past 3 months. Of this approximately 1million CC* has come from Wayne.

He hasn't asked for praise nor do I feel this is an attempt to buy back favour, it's Wayne doing what he always does. Act like a prick in messages but behind the scenes do his upmost for the eUK.

For that reason I officially pardon him and dismiss all charges of treason brought against him.

*Of which 500k CC was used as bribe to write this.

ilphen said in a telegram app that all the woes the eUK faces could simply go away if we crowned him King.

Did you know Queen Elizabeth's real name is actually Baron Von Nuremburgliebfraumilch??? I've been looking into it and our RL monarchy are actually of German descent so this would make more sense than having Bolivian goat herder (former) King Woldy sitting on the throne.
Now please be standing for our new national anthem...

So loooooong gay boys
