Join the new world

Fellow citizens,
I hereby officially announce my candidacy for the highest office in our country, the office of country president. Some of you might have seen this already in the election page, or have read my previous article: here

Now something about myself, I started playing erepublik on September 10th 2008, which makes me one of the 25 oldest players with NL citizenship. I started playing because someone posted a small story about erepublik on the forums of another game I played back then. This player was named Hemmer, for those who can still remember these ancient times. I’m currently running my 17th term as congress member, and serving as Minister of Finance in the government of MaartenW. Over the past 3 years I have claimed a lot of jobs in all sorts of governments, so many that I can’t even list them here. But if you want proof, check out the beautiful medals on our forums. There you can see that I am one of 6 people that deserved the right to wear the highest political medal, which gives me the title: Grand-Knight in the order of the Nederlandse Leeuw.

I do remember however that I started my political career as a secretary of state on the Ministry of Defence. I think that this should be the way for someone to take his or her political career to the next level after being in congress. Therefore Secretaries of state shouldn't be used as a typing machine, or some sort of errand-boy but more as an intern. A Secretary of state should have his own tasks, which he can do perfectly on his own, which is overseen by the Minister, who gives the Secretary of state some hints and tips to improve his work, and act as a mentor.

My most important goal in the coming months is to find a way to get back on the map, without sucking up on Poland's ass. For this we will need all friends we can find, as Poland sure isn't willing to give up on their reconquered resources. This is were my large international network comes in really handy. I know several people that probably will be elected again really good, as I am fighting side by side with them under the American flag against Poland and it's buddies.

Regarding our current lay-out of ministries I am not planning on changing things. The ministry of Education and Culture will remain under my rule, in contrast to other who wish to merge this with the Ministry of Home Affairs. In my view we need to make sure the few new players that come in this country stay here, and keep playing, as we all know a baby-boom is something that is really hard to achieve.

This brings me to the following point within the Ministry of Home Affairs, the weekly government update. As we all know every president promises to do something like this, but for a change I wont make this promise, as this is a promise that is broken by almost everyone after a week. In my work as a minister I experienced it rather annoying that you had to write something about what you were doing every single week, whilst for most ministries their work is always the same. Therefore I want my Ministers to write an article on their own whenever they have something to announce, or start on new things. In my opinion this works better then a nagging Minister of Home Affairs about your 3 lines for the weekly government update.

As I now look up I see that this article is becoming quiet long, thus it is time to stop, but only after I said the following. You might not see something about every Ministry, but making a list like that annoys me in every other election article I read. It looks like they found themselves a bit of left over time, and wrote the same old song about every Ministry again. The specific tasks of all Ministries I will discuss with the respective Minister, so that we can both agree on the things that need to be done.
