Society building - What I stand for

So late last night, I was speaking to a ghost of eIreland's past, a man who has long left our shores, if not our mind's. We had a great chat about our eYouth in Ireland, and, despite all it's faults, what was great about it. Fast forward to this morning when I was driving to work, thinking about about what I'd like to see in eIreland. So here it is, a bit old school. This is nothing to do with ministries or budgets or systems, that will all come a bit later.

Honesty

For me, this manifests itself in three ways. First of all, be honest with the responsibility you have been entrusted with. That means showing complete integrity with the assets in your care and answering all questions and queries truthfully. It also means being honest in your work - if you are entrusted a responsibility, you need to put in a good hard shift. Lastly, you also have to be honest with yourself - with what you say you can do, and what you will do. I want to work with honest people.

Respect

Let's be honest with ourselves - there is too many personal clashes in our country. It needs to stop, and it needs to stop now. I've said it before, and I'm saying it again now, people have the right to play the game the way they wish, and that right has to be respected. Some of what has been going on has been bordering on abuse and harassment, and I can not and will not stand for it.

Accountability

I would like to see much more of a bias towards in-game activity. I would support moving a large of section of Dáil discussion in-game and off irc and forums, where it can be viewed and be held to account. Similiarly, every department should be continue to be audited and budgeted, and every transaction logged and accounted for. I would like for this to be insofar as possible taken off google documents, and onto the forums, where it can be viewed and held to account. Money is not a plaything. Like in real life, I keep a close eye on my money, and see that it is spent efficiently.

Consensus

A strong government needs a mandate, and a mandate can only be achieved through consensus. As such, I place great emphasis on the opinions and proposals of others. That is why all government policy, existing and new, will be subject to review, in order to improve it, and give it a mandate. I am not a 'do we have to get Dáil approval' President. I am a 'let's go and get Dáil approval' kind of President. That way, the people will have their say.

Craic

IT'S ABOUT TIME WE HAD AN IRISH BAR AROUND HERE. Let's go and chill out in a home for everything Irish, music, drinking, the cúpla focal Gaeilge and a bit of Cead Míle Fáilte! Here there will be no eRepublik. Just Irish!

Government for the people

As many people as possible should be involved in making Ireland the best nation it can be. Not only the vetarans, but our talented younger citizens as well. Because of this, ALL OF MY CABINET POSITIONS WILL BE CONDUCTED THROUGH AN OPEN APPLICATION PROCESS so that the people who want to do the jobs can go for them, rather than the same heads being headhunted.

The only position which is not open is that of Vice-President. This is because in keeping with my goal of involving as many younger citizens as possibly, the opportunity has been offered to the energetic Mikebane, who has agreed to take on the role in order to pick up the experience vital to the leadership role of President. In the event that you support me, I look forward to working with Mikebane to make this country the best that it can be.

Fluffy? Yes. Leadership? Yes.

I'll close with a selection of witty campaign slogans (winner announced tomorrow) 😛

Yours,
