[CP candidate]The Tribe and A Shepherd Boy

Day 2,052, 03:09 Published in India India by Uv Ajed

There was a tribe of travelers who had lost their original land to barbarians and invaders. But soon the tribe adapted to the lifestyle of a gypsy, they traveled from one region to another region depending on the season, availability of food, attacks of barbarians and wild animals. The tribe fell in love with this lifestyle and soon the tribe's leaders declared that the journey they decided to undertake would have no destination. A philosophy was born, a philosophy about the journey that had no end and tribe embraced it.

The journey went on for years, until one day they came to a beautiful land. A land with abundant food, a beautiful stream flowing through the greenery. The land was surrounded by hills and thus provided the tribe a natural protection against invaders. The tribe had grown weary and tired of traveling for ages. But they weren't ready to let go of their philosophy and decided to make the region a temporary home.

The tribe soon adapted to this environment and settled in the region. Generations passed, time went by and the tribe forgot about their past, where they came from, their traveling culture, history and even the philosophy that their ancestors used abide by. The land provided them with surplus and they were happy with what they had. They even forgot about civilization beyond the hills. They were cut off from the rest of the world and to them this land was the whole world and humanity.

There was a young shepherd in the tribe who would wander through the hills and beyond, herding his sheep. Although ignorant about his ancestors and their philosophy. The boy unknowingly started embracing it. He would be gone for days with his sheep and would return back to the village to sell them for food and ration, just to leave the village again and continue his journey.

Finally the wrath and fear of ancestors ascended the lands, a drought worse than anyone's imagination hit the land. The river and streams dried off. the greenery was gone and replaced with a barren desert. The land which till now was a utopia, became a land of dead. People started dying. The tribesmen started fighting among themselves, there was a struggle for power among the tribesman. And no one really knew a way out. To them the world didn't exist beyond the Mountains and hills.

It was during this period that the young shepherd boy approached the council of elders and told them about the land of sea that existed beyond the river. Everyone was unwilling to listen to the boy at first, he was mocked and made fun of by several tribesmen. The boy would shout go from door to door asking people to leave the land, but no one would heed to his suggestion. But having lost so much the village elders finally decided to follow the suggestion of the boy and ordered the tribesmen to pack their belonging and leave the region. Many continued opposing it, but given a fact that there was no other alternative left, people reluctantly had to chose between leaving the land for good or perish. There were also a handful who were hopeful and believed in the boy.

The journey wasn't an easy one. The shepherd boy guided the tribesmen through a tunnel of darkness, they traveled for days. Many continued to think that it was a bad move, while there were others who still clinged to the hope that they would see the light.

Finally the day arrived, with the first ray of sun everyone rejoiced and were happy to finally reach the end of darkness. They come out of the mountain and were amazed to see a beautiful sea that stood in front of them.

The elders decided that it was time for the tribe to settle down in this land and call it a new home. But as they prepared to settle they were subjected to series of attacks from wild beasts and barbarians. The heroes and warriors fought well to defend their tribe. The elders then decided that the journey can't end there. The tribe once again embraced the philosophy of their ancestors and began the journey with a new hope that one day they would once again build a new kingdom, a kingdom of their hearts.

The traders of the tribe would set up trading posts at various regions after realizing the presence of other civilization and the importance of the trade. The emissary and diplomats would visit other tribes and kingdoms to establish missions and a foreign affair. The warriors continued protecting their tribe from attacks and onslaught.

As of the little shepherd boy, he went back to herding his sheep and living his passion of discovering new regions and locations.

When I came back to the game, and decided to run for CP seeing the condition of our nation, I was told by many that I won't be able to change anything in India and I won't be able to achieve anything.

I thoroughly and completely agree with them. "I" didn't achieve anything, neither did "I" change anything.

But whatever little change we see in India today, be it improving our population, increasing our earning, removing a foreign nation from our land. Establishing new diplomatic relationships with other countries, etc., it was "WE" who did it, it was "WE" who revived a dead nation.

Who are "WE"?
We are India.

I don't consider myself to be some leader or legend or god or whatever, I am just another Indian like you with a loving family, a beautiful wife and a wonderful dog. If there is something that I can relate to its probably the shepherd boy in the story.

But yes I do believe that among us we have leaders, legends and gods. I have seen capability of many people, beyond far and their determination and strength. Among us we have the best traders, fighters and diplomats. And we ought to follow their lead in our journey to a beautiful future and a wonderful destination.

From time to time we will continue being threatened, we will face the grave dangers and difficulty.

But we have to stay strong and united. Even in real life we are Divided by culture, language and looks, yet united by a common soul, the spirit of India.

I didn't want to run for another term. I kept saying that repeatedly as well, until past week when I started being bombarded with mails, PMs and messages that I should run for another term. I have lot of pending work, a graphic novel intended to be released in August at Comicon Mumbai to complete.

But given a fact that we are at a transition and how seriously it is needed for the current govt. to continue with new threats and changes. I am announcing a rebid for Country President for the month of July-August.

And this will probably be the last time I would be running for the Country President. For I believe that stability doesn't come with leadership, it comes with unity and direction. And as long as we have unity and direction, nothing can stop us from achieving greatness.
