[CP] Canada Cannot Be Trusted

Day 1,732, 02:30 Published in Canada Canada by Jacobi

Edit: Here's the long and short of it. If I cannot be counted upon to impress upon Congress the importance of letting the Executive decide policy, then Congress makes Canada impossible to trust.

This morning, being as I woke this morning feeling less than well, is certainly turning out to be one of those “yepp, that figures” mornings.

A rogue Congressman, who in every sense was known to be a rogue considering his impeachment as Speaker and forum shenanigans, has proposed an NE followed by 8 of his friends in support. I have asked the remainder of Congress to vote down the proposal lest we looked like a spastic 8 year old. We have been in some very preliminary discussions regarding a training war with the United Kingdom and I will stress to them and to you that if, somehow, this proposal passes or their counter proposal passes in the same way that the US war occurred, it will not be our intention to steal any regions. Had some manner of deal been born of a training war discussion that would have been one thing, but considering our Congress’ potential perfidiousness, I’m really starting to doubt that possibility.

I would like Congress to prove they don’t need to be babysat and show that Canada isn’t a loose cannon. Though at this point I think in 8 days Canadian citizens need to decide what sort of Congress they want to have. Do they want trolls, misanthropes, and lunatics of which there are some good examples in this Congress, or do they want level-headed team players? My God would I love that to be the ballot box question. Of course I know it won’t be, because that would imply a level of awareness that far exceeds what can be expected from most citizens, but a guy can dream right? I have had good Congress’ before…they aren’t that rare…

The survey is done and with 88 respondents I have used those good people at random.org to select a winner, which they’ve decided is entry 42! Congratulations to Lord Beorn, the cheque is in the mail.

I will be compiling the answers of the survey throughout the day today but honestly the most important and revealing part of it was that final Other comments and questions box. There’s just so much good information there that I could probably use that information to fill up my remaining articles for the rest of the term. It is my intention that by the end of the weekend, every person who had something to say in that box will receive a reply from myself, or from a Minister to whom a question might be better addressed.
Again thank you very much for participating in the survey because I think it was a very good tool to get a sense of the pulse of eCanada outside of the echo chambers on the forums.

Well that’s it for now. I think I’m going to be spending a bit of time dealing with the divorce from reality that some people seem to be experiencing. Let no one say being President is easy, though I will admit in most times it still is fun.

Comments, concerns, questions? Give me a shout.
