[CP] Canada Cannot Be Trusted
Jacobi
Edit: Here's the long and short of it. If I cannot be counted upon to impress upon Congress the importance of letting the Executive decide policy, then Congress makes Canada impossible to trust.
This morning, being as I woke this morning feeling less than well, is certainly turning out to be one of those “yepp, that figures” mornings.
A rogue Congressman, who in every sense was known to be a rogue considering his impeachment as Speaker and forum shenanigans, has proposed an NE followed by 8 of his friends in support. I have asked the remainder of Congress to vote down the proposal lest we looked like a spastic 8 year old. We have been in some very preliminary discussions regarding a training war with the United Kingdom and I will stress to them and to you that if, somehow, this proposal passes or their counter proposal passes in the same way that the US war occurred, it will not be our intention to steal any regions. Had some manner of deal been born of a training war discussion that would have been one thing, but considering our Congress’ potential perfidiousness, I’m really starting to doubt that possibility.
I would like Congress to prove they don’t need to be babysat and show that Canada isn’t a loose cannon. Though at this point I think in 8 days Canadian citizens need to decide what sort of Congress they want to have. Do they want trolls, misanthropes, and lunatics of which there are some good examples in this Congress, or do they want level-headed team players? My God would I love that to be the ballot box question. Of course I know it won’t be, because that would imply a level of awareness that far exceeds what can be expected from most citizens, but a guy can dream right? I have had good Congress’ before…they aren’t that rare…

The survey is done and with 88 respondents I have used those good people at random.org to select a winner, which they’ve decided is entry 42! Congratulations to Lord Beorn, the cheque is in the mail.
I will be compiling the answers of the survey throughout the day today but honestly the most important and revealing part of it was that final Other comments and questions box. There’s just so much good information there that I could probably use that information to fill up my remaining articles for the rest of the term. It is my intention that by the end of the weekend, every person who had something to say in that box will receive a reply from myself, or from a Minister to whom a question might be better addressed.
Again thank you very much for participating in the survey because I think it was a very good tool to get a sense of the pulse of eCanada outside of the echo chambers on the forums.

Well that’s it for now. I think I’m going to be spending a bit of time dealing with the divorce from reality that some people seem to be experiencing. Let no one say being President is easy, though I will admit in most times it still is fun.
Comments, concerns, questions? Give me a shout.

We really do need a new congress that doesn't bribe to get votes and then ends up doing crap. Glad to see a CP finally getting involved with the country! 😁

That "rogue" and his fellows are the only ones with the balls in eCanada.
We attacked you, we raped your houses, we stole your wives, we burned your horses... and you still kiss our butts... that's just lame, show some spine ffs

I'm itching for a fight.
Congratz to Lord Beorn!
I always knew that AFK party was up to no good.
Jocobi, the vote count is now 20 in favour of NE. I think that our congress is a bit misguided in hoping that more war will bring success to our economy when in fact its the opposite.
We need to be building up our resources and infrastructure not wasting gold fighting pointless wars of conquest. We need to be supporting our allies not finding new foes.
Please vote NO to the NE!
With all the MPP's it's not like we really need more choices for battles and there hasn't been a long term benefit to natural enemy since the 10% bonus influence went by the wayside. Because I'm a skeptical betch, I'd be curious to see how many of those that voted yes to this nonsense just happen to have large quantities of food or weapons for sale. It's a shame war profiteering is an accepted business model.
Honestly, the NE passing isn't so much about trolls or 'evil' Congress members as it is about months, and months of useless CPs. Congress has essentially taken over the role of Executive because for much of the last year there has been Presidents that are either silent or just plain missing.
@Joey war is good for the economy
@artemis dont forget the TP medal bonus
woulda been good if we could of debated this in Congress (forums) but I understand why people are voting yes, its a game, and a boring one, more boring if nothing is going on
Funny part is people will attribute this to the trolls, but if you actually look through some of the discussions that have happened on the forums in the past months it was actually me who was pushing for Congress to back off on discussing NEs and war and let the President/MoD handle that. Essentially, I was told that Congress was now going to be deciding such things. And it wasn't just Coalition members that said that, but 'legit' Congress members also.
wally, in this case jacobi had a plan and was working on it. It could be that a less forum-active congress failed to tune into noticing there was a training war in the works. If all congressmen atended congress discussions and followed the rules, then this never would have happened.
In-game article proposals are ruining this country, as well as the decline in forum usage.
Or maybe ecanada has a host of other problems that keep ruining our sense of direction.
The National Spoke:
And I delivered.
whoa did I just see Plugson saying that a decline in forum usage has had detrimental effects
what sort of bizarro erepublik have I stepped into this morning
"If I cannot be counted upon to impress upon Congress the importance of letting the Executive decide policy, then Congress makes Canada impossible to trust."
New leader, same old usual suspects in congress.
"I have had good Congress’ before…they aren’t that rare…"
The game has changed and so have the people who play, past experience is not relevant.
@crisfire
There is no economy.
@Norbengo
Having balls would mean them trying to take on the US or Poland both options they wimped out of
Oh noes! You were trying to make detailed plans that got completely derailed by an otherwise completely useless Congress?
Is it too early to say "I told you so"?
There's not a lot of advantages to getting wiped, but in eCanada not having a Congress would definitely be one of them.
Jacobi, We're bored stiff, FFS you've been CP for 12 days, Real Leadership? - Lead us somewhere - The entire country is logging on everyday hoping something is going on and all we get is some lame article about a failed idea like the ambassador corps
Get on with it, this is a War game, and the goals are to improve your citizen and countries strength, UK has Fruit and Oil, we need Fruit and Oil
Play the game, or quit derping it up and wasting everyones time
BTW - The "Coalition" has 14 Congressman - The Vote is at 25-6
assuming all the coalition voted Yes, it's still at 11-6 for the rest of the membership, the CPF and Clan Wolf
The Congress doesn't like it your way Jacobi, take a step back and think about that for a minute...
Your military ineptitude truly is astonishing, Rolo.
Congress isnt thinking straight... Citizens were finally getting back on their feet and now they are being tripped back down to their knees
I was optimistic that eCanada was going to become formidable, but now it seems we are happy to serve as a sparring partner that never gets a shot outside the practice ring.
The part of King Arthur will be played today by Jacobi.

Rolo, when, in the many times we've gone to war with the UK, have we ever been able to hold on to said Oil and Fruit? We haven't, because this is a ridiculous idea. We are not strong enough of a nation for us to be able to occupy a country like the UK, especially considering its allies.
We occupied the UK for nearly 2 full months, just 8 months ago
Take a history lesson noob
to be fair Venoms did say, before he was impeached as speaker, that he was going to launch an 'illegal' NE vote. So, those of you who are saying this is coming out of no where just aren't paying attention.
Oh, bloody hell. That's what I get for assuming I suppose. Sorry mate, my bad. I remember playing a year and a half back, when invading the UK was all the rage, and all it got us was costing the UK money to rebuild their hospitals.
But still man, don't you think we could be doing something better with our military force? I'd say building better alliances with countries like Portugal by helping to free them, or just stuff like that is a much better use, but that's my opinion.
@crisfire - war is not good for the economy like ours
War leads to inflation and erodes wealth. People spend their CAD on gold or just use up their gold to buy up energy bars, etc. to fight pointless battles. That CAD and gold could be invested in training facility upgrades and company upgrades. If we stay with the same quality level of weapons and food companies then the supply of higher quality weapons does not grow and thus those prices rise. This erodes our wealth.
^ YES - lets sit on our hands and do nothing until the end of time
Think of how strong and how rich we'll all be - think of all the enemies we can defeat then
But we wouldnt want to start a war then either because if we continue to sit on our hands we can be even richer and stronger
I wonder when the cycle will end?
Who had fun last month?, Wars with the UK, Poland, Spain and the US....
I think we did OK.....
I dont see the problem, UK doesnt need a training war anyway because they have the constant shit with the ireland agreement, fuck them.
"perfidiousness"
Nice! Word-of-the-Day calendar or toilet paper? I prefer the toilet paper edition, myself.
It was a lot of fun last month...and four solid defeats wasnt it? Well three and you needed the majority of America to stop you being humiliated. Personally i'm surprised you havent gone after Spain considering how you keep bleating about bro' Portugal...but having the Spanish on Canadian soil is a prospect that makes Canada forget her bro's
FFS, push a button and start a fight. While the rest of the world gets TP gold, our citizens grow poor and bored. You either lose good players or people join congress for the lulz.
Give the people something to do...its not that hard..
[removed]
anotherlamedrunk - difference is we know we are carried and dont pretend we are a world power, or pretend we are all about bro's then leave them high and dry. \o/
Out of interest who did we leave high and dry Dr Cock?
😁😁😁^
your president.
and your credibility.
eCanada's congress follows the lead of a liar and a cheat, not a true statesman and diplomat.
That's no way to talk about Wilhelm. I think he's a great speaker.
Babychamdrinker - aka (anotherlamedrunk) - Portugal??? I dont see an attack forth coming considering your all clamouring for war...or perhaps Poland so France could perhaps organise alongside you?
Your always bleating about how your bro's are important, especially during the CTRL alliance talks...yet you end up just attacking the eUK...yeah because stopping us helps France and Portugal eh?
Yes you cant stop democrasy. Stop whining or get impeached sorry
Yeah because NE spain sounds like a great, sensible idea. It reminds me of all those times UK NE'd USA and Poland to help their allies when they were on the opposite team
But in true spineless eUK fashion you switched alliances again to protect yourselves from polish expansion.
I cant comment on eUK's past policy of alliance hopping as it was before my time...i wouldnt condone it either. And i certainly wont deny we are Polands little bitch, and God bless em' for it with countries like Canada/France and Germany on our doorstep.
...But you guys talk about how important your bro's are when you wont even put yourselves on the line to support them...almost as bad as some of the eUK's past actions eh? You even have airstrikes now so you could support your bro's anywhere in the world, and yet you NE the eUK. I suppose attacking a smaller island nation helps Portugal/France/Croatia no end...i just dont understand the logic
I agree with Hugh, we owe a LOT to our Polish friends, they have saved us on numerous occasions. I also agree with him that you Canadians are all talk.
If I remember right, you only managed to hold us because France and Ireland were helping you occupy us and TEDEN was dominating worldwide - it would have been hard to win with 6 or our 7 neighbours being in the other alliance. You on the other hand had the USA, France and Ireland next to you to help when needed. Enjoy another damage drain war, I know TEDEN won't.
Awww, you guys started a war with the UK for my birthday?
Norbengo must be eAmerican. He just bloated up a situation far beyond proportion. Last time I checked, eUSA didn`t hold eCanadian territory for long, and neither did you have enough time to do anything you mentioned. And, last time I checked, that war was pretty level and evenly balanced. You guys attacked us, we attacked you, nobody still holds the others territory. You just said a lot of senseless, unuable crap.
@Alfons, 2 words dude: Communism and Dictatorship.
Rolo, the sales pitch of thise game is "It`s like a second life." Last time I checked, Canada didn`t declare war on USA OR UK. War is an option, not the main component, or has that been lost in translation? You want a war game? Go play Risk or something.
C. Buzz - Did you just compare this game to a second life?
Your life must be incredible boring....
The tagline when I signed up was "You can be the one to start a war, or stop it"
Why don't we just desolve the presidency and let congress run the country, Everything works better with democracy, every vote counts 😛
I'm not sure that I agree with war not being a major component of the game.
Of course I do believe that war should be entered into carefully and with a plan.
If you take battles and wars out, what's left ... politicians?
