[Congress] An injustice!

Day 3,320, 21:16 Published in USA Canada by Ilene Dover

Well folks, we’re nearly at that time of the month again. Congress elections, oh boy…

As this term comes to an end an injustice has occurred. Read on, to find out what horrible things Congress has just done to itself this time.

A veteran elected SFP representative (Franklin Stone) was effectively censured from Congress by the Speaker. That is, his access to the private congress boards (where most of the discussion and voting occurs) was revoked by the Speaker (Congress’ elected moderator). Why? Well, here you go.

Wait, what? Because I don’t like you

Apparently that’s a good enough reason to deny a vote to an elected Congress representative

I certainly didn’t think so, because arbitrary exclusion of representatives on personal grounds is an abuse of power. Franklin Stone was legitimately elected and is entitled to vote and discuss things as he sees fit. As such, I requested the Speaker overturn Franklin Stone’s censure. You can read all about it http://eusaforums.com/forum/index.php/topic,41671.0.html. The opening phase of the discussion:

I’ve been censured myself for that thread. It’s on legitimate grounds, so I’m not complaining - it’s the price of admission I was expecting.

Well, so what?!, I can hear you thinking. You should be outraged! We have a democratic government, despite the mechanical presence of a dictator. The exclusion of dissenting voices because I don’t like you should get you angry! Silencing of opinions is a sign of real dictatorships, not a mechanics-only dictatorship.

This situation is going to persist for as long as there is a plurality of Congress seats held by a group of people who consider themselves born to rule.

If this sort of undemocratic behaviour disgusts you, or makes you angry, I have good news. You (yes you, any particular citizen of the eUS) can do something about it. On Congress election day, don’t vote for any party that displays anti-democratic behaviour.
