[Brodie] Presidential Manifesto

Day 496, 12:26 Published in South Korea United Kingdom by mr. brodie

Hello, fellow Koreans,
Country Presidential Elections soon, which means you, the people, get to choose the course of this great nation for another month. I’m a candidate for this election, running under the banner of the native Koreans, against the multiple political takeovers. I want to be the one to lead us into a new, stronger era, that’ll allow us to excel in the future. It’s a privilege to run, and I’d love for you to consider me worthy of your vote, for the next President of South Korea.

This isn’t a question of just who to vote for. This is the question of freedom for all. In the past this proud nation has been scared by individuals, which leaves us wounded, but unlike them, we will work as a unit, refurbishing the house of prosperity – our house of prosperity.

I thought I’d kick things off with an introduction of myself and some of my achievements so far:

-I've been playing this game for 14 months
-I've been a congressman for 11 mandates.
-I've been a Party President for 7 terms.
-I was a minister for 3 months.
-A Mayor for 2 terms
-I was an ambassador to a few countries – I have a range of strong contacts around the world.
-I used to be a General Manager of around 12 separate companies - I’m good at organising things and people.
-I've been involved with a multiple mercenary groups as well as official armies – I can work as a team.
-I’m also an Admin for the South Korean forum.

But of course, I don’t expect you to vote for me because of what I’ve done. Vote for me because of what I will do!

Strong organization:
To create a fully functional country, we can’t have one person running the country. I plan on setting up a strong governing body. I’ll do this by implementing multiple ministerial positions as well as contacting all of congress and asking them to get involved on the forums.

The out of game forums are an important part for any powerful country, they give the facilities to talk and create a better country. I’m planning to try and get as many people on there as possible so we can get things done quickly, with proper input.

The ministerial positions I’m planning on trying to implement will be:
-Minister of Health
-Minister of Defense
-Ministry of Immigration
- Ministry of Propaganda
-Chancellor of Exchequer
-Minister of Foreign Affairs
-Ministry of Work

(I’ll release more information on the specifics later)

Ministerial jobs won’t be given out to people, people will have to apply, but there’s no reason to stop current ministers coming forward. I feel this is more democratic and gives newer players a chance. I will make the final decision after reading the applications.

Strengthening the economy:
By lowering import taxes and VAT we can attract more produce to our markets, where production is thin. Whether this is by via foreign companies or newly started, Korean, businesses it doesn’t matter. If markets are not allowing native companies to sell, then imports will rise – deterring others from taking our money.

With the tax increase, this would also strengthen the currency, which means you’d get more value for your money in the long run.

I’d prefer to see Korean run companies running the different sectors, but it’s important to get to get a strong, functional market. Once most of the important sectors have produce, we can start to focus on those that don’t. Government run companies would do a good job play a big part in this, yet we don’t have the money to do this, which is why we need a good source of KRW/Gold.

To make this clear, I do not support the Korean loan program, not with the 0% interest anyway. Giving away KRW won’t help our economy, or newly set up companies. If people can’t afford to pay wages, they shouldn’t be opening a company in my opinion. Sooner or later they’ll close or have to lower wages and raise prices, something which might leave people unemployed and hungry. I will give loans to those that provide a clear plan on repayment, to make sure the money isn’t wasted, as well as having a small fixed interest rate. This’ll be entailed with part of the “Chancellor of Exchequer” job.

Once the market is under control with a strong workforce and plenty of products, I’ll lower the output of the government run companies; allow the rest of the country to have a chance at having responsibility, regarding the economy. I’m all for a free market, once it’s a plausible option.

Strengthening the treasury:
It’s pretty obvious we’re lacking any large amounts of money. I’m not entirely sure of the exact specifics regarding amounts and such, but I’m certain it’s not in the high numbers.

Firstly I want to pull in some KRW for government spending. I’ll do this by raising taxes in certain sectors. By simply raising income taxes to around the 10% mark, we can pull in around about 1,000 KRW monthly (this might not seem a lot, but we can’t print any money because of the lack of Gold).

When we do get a good income from KRW, we can transfer this into Gold, so we can control the Monetary Market, as well as building companies, securing the country via militarily means, buying defences, etc…

Certain individuals have come forward and have said they’ll supply us with the funds to get back on track, once we have a secure country. This brings me on to the next point: A bank. We need to establish somewhere that our funds can be stored during difficult times, under contracted terms. Currently we don’t have a fully trusted bank, thus a group of proposals being wasted, once we have accessible supplies, in a safe organisation, we can start on several welfare schemes and other things that need funding.

Lowering unemployment:
Creating a Ministry of Work will hopefully allow us to have a strong, more educated workforce. The MoW will inform the public which sectors need and companies need workers, to create the strongest possible production force.

By channeling workers into the weaker companies and sectors we can make the most of the multipliers, which in turn creates more products and sales.
Releasing weekly article informing people of the current market changes, telling them how to get a job, which companies are native, the best sectors to go in, etc, will help to educate people, to some extent, on the market.

This Ministry will own the government run companies, but will only pay one fixed wage (in certain sectors). Why? Because we want to lower unemployment quickly, yet we don’t want to take workers away from other companies – they can leave whenever they want, this will just help them raise their skills until it’s time to move on.

Foreign relations:
We don’t have the facilities or money to defend ourselves; so let’s not make ourselves a target.

Establishing strong embassies across a range of countries allows us to build relations with others, sharing information, resources and friendship. I want to get people out to other forums and promote Korea, getting us known for being awesome. We want them to know that we’re decent people that are worth defending if the time comes.

Personally I want Korea to be neutral in the battle of ATLANTIS and PEACE. We can’t exactly offer them support (yet) and we have no reason to join. When we are ready, we shall make a decision. I’m not closing the door on an alliance; it’s up to the people, but in my opinion, we aren’t ready for the main 2. We should talk to both and build on relations, although PEACE would be the wiser option, regarding the defence and position of our country.

I was thinking of creating the SCA – The Small Country Alliance, which would hold together those who can’t defend themselves, allowing the others in their position to come together and fight together. Of course, I probably won’t put this forward in the near future, as things need to be worked out, but it’s always another option.

Once again the issue of money appears. We can’t afford MPPs or Defence Systems or Hospitals, so we’re on our own. We must spread and promote the Korean people to make sure we get the rightful protection we deserve. Words are the best attack at this period in time.

Many of our regions have been taken by Japan, I was planning to improve relations with our neighbors so in the future we could possible have training wars, or even receive a piece of land back. This of course will have to be planned, as we don’t want to be vulnerable to other nations at the same time, or straight after.

Increasing general welfare:
By expanding on the current implementations of companies such as Gibraltar Food, we can help increase the wellness of the nation as a whole. Gifting people allows more productivity as well as a boost for the gifts market.

We can’t force General Managers to implement this scheme, which is why I want to expand it nation wide. We will set up gifting squads who will gifts people via separate sections (regions). This will cost a lot, so we’ll have to gradually build this up – the first target should be getting everybody to 50 wellness (not including inactives).

I will inform you, the people, of all major decisions made and the reasons for them. Anything I propose will be given a link with the correct reasons, which I think will be best for the country. You deserve to know what’s happening to your country, and I’ll tell you.

The game can get a bit boring with just to clicks all the time. That’s why I’ll be getting the forums advertised and getting plenty of people involved in there. They are the place where real discussion happens and where people can get to know each other. Once it’s popular enough, we can start implementing challenges and games for people to partake in, with possible prizes, thus stopping any possible tedium you may have.

Increasing the population:
This is where the MoI and MoP will come in. We need to attract people to our great country; increasing work force, bettering the political scene, more income, etc. The country will have to advertise itself around multiple places, the in game forums, other countries media section, embassies and so on. Having more people here will benefit us in multi ways, it’s just getting people here which will be a problem. We will offer them a free moving ticket if they wish to move here (helping the gift market sales) which will hopefully persuade them that they aren’t losing out (terms and conditions will apply so we wont get scammed).

Slowing down the takeovers:
Nothing I can say here will really make much difference; people will always try to take us over because we’re vulnerable. If they can’t win fairly, they have to ship in huge numbers of people to win, something which we don’t have the benefit of.

We have to organize ourselves, spread the votes and advertise. With strong leadership we can fight the battle to the end, for a free Korea! The aid of others is the strongest weapon against those who want to damn our grand nation. Unity is the key, friendship is the weapon and loyalty will set us free!

________________________________________ ________________________________________ _

This coming month will nail biting, we can go two ways; towards the light or further into the dark. We’ve had many months of no action and now it’s time for change! We must unite under one banner for the good of the nation! I can lead us to a new, great era – together. It’ll take all the skills and abilities I’ve learnt over the last year, but I believe I’m the person to pull us to the future.

The country is in a delicate and needs to be rebuilt from previous governmental errors. Let me do you the honor of running this country for you, the good people of Korea. Soon we fight – for liberty!

Hopefully when you jump into the ballot box, you’ll choose the best candidate for you. All I can ask is that you are educated on the candidates and the future of the country, before making a final decision.

I thank you, and please vote Mr. Brodie.
