Day 514, 16:35 Published in Thailand Thailand by Bl1ndn3ss

My fellow citizens,

I come to you with a heavy heart. I arrived in eThailand more than 4 months ago hoping that here I could find a better place, a chance to make a difference and, most importantly, a place to have some fun.

I don't deny that I encountered all of the above, at first and in the following months, but lately I found myself wondering if eThailand isn't turning in to the very thing I so deeply despise and that made me leave the eUSA.

A country were ideas get no debate, intentions are covered, congress puts a stamp of approval on anything, people throw tantrums, disagree not because of ideals but simply to be on the opposition and take a bigger interest on their personal wealth than that of their eCountry.

I'm sadden by what we have become.

Some of you know this already but I'm going to say it. I wont be running for President of eThailand again. Frankly, I had more than enough of that.

I am, and always be, however very proud of the things we accomplished together. A stronger, more stable and more important, internationally, country.

There are some people that will always have my deepest gratitude for the important part they played in our eCountry.
I cannot thank Jack Roberts enough for the wonderful job he did for eThailand. The same goes for Gentyle, Ealb, Vincent Garibaldi, Sparkster and Jean Paul Sartre and so many others, I cannot name them all.
A special word goes to Glados, although he hasnt been here that long, he has proven himself to be a reliable and resourceful man, that any country is lucky to have in it's ranks.

And now is the part a lot of people wont like.
The part where I speak my mind without concern. I will give no attention to bruised egos or anything of that kind.
If you feel that you have been wrongly accused, inadequately described or insulted speak now or forever hold your breath because god knows I won't.

I am very concerned with the path people decided to take now their country is no longer in danger. Of being TO, of being in economic collapse, of not having enough people (problem that is getting less noticeable), of not having enough products in the market.

You can say that the straw that broke the camels back was this last approved congressional proposal. I realize that has president I have almost no power over the Taxes in this country I am allowed to vote it in Congress and thats it.

The total sum of debate about this idea was 1 comments on a article that soon after that disappeared from the top rated (you would have to know who wrote the article and go look for it in that persons newspaper).
And yet people voted for it.
Without discussion, without debate and, I might add, without thinking.

The government proposes a full tax plan with the intentions all written in an article (and please do not ask for a budget, there is no way to give a correct one - we can only estimate the values and those actually being correct is somewhat of a long shot). A lot of people disagree with it but that is fine. Its the way it's supposed to work. Some people disagreed with changing our taxes simply (and someone actually said it) because it would hurt his company.
The debate happens and AFTER it still gets approved.

One congressman as a problem with our tax plan and decides (with no debate what so ever - and please dont say there was one we both know thats not true!) to present his own proposition that goes against everything discussed before.

In the last presidential elections everyone was very proud of our openness to new ideas and everyone look forward to see what would happen.
While everyone seem to think that I would win the elections easily (what actually end up happening) I was somewhat concerned about the small margin that I have won with in the first elections.
Some accusations were thrown from one side to the other and I kept my mouth shut because I feel its not the presidents job to get involved in some ideological discussion between members of different parties and most importantly because there were no proof of anything.

I saw our numbers raise almost 5% on election day (A few citizens of the former eRussia nation came to eThailand to show their support), some TOs accusations were made and lack of evidence made them void. But now I want to speak out.
The defense that those people were here to stay have proven wrong (if not misleading) our numbers returned to normal after the elections (what sounds some what strange to me) and although the final vote count ended up favoring me, one idea does cross my mind.
Lets take the hipotetical view on these last elections. Lets just wonder that not so many people had voted for me, lets just imagine a situation were this election was more like the previous one and the final difference was 11 votes.

What do you think those 5% increase with the "supporters" would do? It would actively change the result of the election. It would enforce ideals of a party on a country that does not share them.

Maybe it wasnt on purpose but no one can change the fact that after my victory on the elections those "supporters" left eThailand. So I would like to say that the eThai citizens should be very careful with who they vote for. They just might get more than then wished for.

People want war, people want to have fun. But no one wants to pay for it.
Its the most obvious truth to me. I cant even remember all the PMs I get asking for war or war games. But when it comes to pay for it there arent so many volunteers.

People seem to forget very easily that ours is a poor country, we have about 150G and 100K THB
in our treasury. That may seem like a lot but it isnt.
We cant touch the 100K THB because they would flood the monetary market and drive the value of our currency into the unseen levels and destroy the economy on the way down.
Now the 150G. A war costs 200G + 25% of population. To start a war would drain all of the gold from country and we wouldnt even be able to open an active battle.
All that for a mild and short burst in our economy. Not worth it. We should be able to gain something more that a few experience points and an increase level of sales in weapons and gifts.

I am concerned about what route to follow. I am sad to say that nothing will ever get done with a congress like this and with people like this.

I'm open to suggestions.
