[BIS] Interview with a headhunter

Day 5,804, 04:04 Published in Malaysia Malaysia by TheoderichRex

Dear reader,

In my initial days, I came across several terms such as the Blackmarket, Headhunter, purchasing packs/kits for cc, using external tools, and other ventures. I find such ideas fascinating: "Business in the Shadow" is a sequence of articles that focuses on businesses or services not designed by the game developer. Operating in the shadow is not synonymous with illicit or doubtful activities.

Do you own a business or have information about one? Please share it with me!

HEADHUNTER Mr.Sucateir2

1. When and why did you become a headhunter?

Well, it all started a few years ago with a Portuguese stealer, i got tired of him hunting new players and I started hunting him. It went for quite a few weeks/months. Then I noticed I'm quite good at it so if my country had this “problem” I thought maybe others have it too… and in May/June i started it solo, gathering some customers in my friends list and a few other players that already knew what i can do came to me asking for it.

- Can you tell me a bit more about your history?

2. What services do you offer? Flat rate price or individual?

Well, I hunt players that go to SH’s, they can go in early battles or at the last minute. What I can say is that if they enter early I will also enter early and give them a chance to fight me, I won't steal last min unless my target is a last min player and enters in the last min of the battle. About the rate, i request to see the target profile to know the rate, it's on a case by case scenario, some can be costly, other targets will be cheaper.

- Can you give me a pricing range?

I ask beetween 20k to 150k per SH won, value depending on each target, plus a cc rate if we enter in SH fights over certain dmg.

3. Do you work alone or in a group?

I did start solo but I got so many contracts that I decided to create a MU and invited other players to assist me. I also got a 3rd member but the contracts were not so many to the point we needed him full time. However, that 3rd member is still on hold in case this changes and he knows he can enter any time he asks.

4. Are there many headhunters, how is the competition, are there gentlemen's agreements among headhunters?

I know me and my MU, the others i know a few but they dont have my work ethic. I've never spoke with them about the specificities of the contracts besides the targets nor do I need to, who contracts me have my word and my word is gold, you’ll understand a few questions down.

5. Do you use other external tools and/or do you use illegal methods?

I don't use anything illegal, it's not illegal to refresh pages so i'm doing it 100% safe and to be sure about any report that comes from haters, i do record when i remember the hunts to have proof in case there is anything incoming to me.

6. Percentage of your clients:
A. People who want revenge.
B. People who want to harm someone as part of a political or military operation.

Lets say 90% of my contracts are from players that got stolen and want to take revenge, yes. Some contracts ask for 1 or 2 SH’s and we are done, some contracts are continuous and I keep hunting till my customer says so or we establish a deadline (it can always change) and I stop once the contract finishes.

-to B- It happened once or twice but was a small portion of SH’s i don't even recall it.

- Do you offer your service only for the revenge act and do you make sure that the target indeed stole before , tell me a bit about process?

There are 3rd party tools that let us see that and i consult that before to see if the player is indeed a stealer or not.
If he stole you once u can contract me to hunt him nonstop, its your decision the number of SH or money. You limit me. I do have some nonstop contracts.
When i start a contract i ask if you want me to send a message to the player (anonymous or not) or ignore, in case i receive a PM from him. I usually dont start conversations but i can do it if we agree in a contract that you want me to.

7. Are you political? Do you accept jobs that make you politically uncomfortable but financially lucrative?

I'm not political anymore, I do play for a few countries and that said, I play for an alliance. but my job is, let's say, a side job. I do have contracts from my enemies and I hunt my allies. when there are military wars between countries i still fight against player that i have contracts signed and i do fight side by side with players im currently still hunting.

- Does no one have immunity?

When a player contract me he gets that "immunity", i wont accept a contract against him during his active contract and even after his contract ends, i wont accept in the near future a contract against him.
Again, all this anonymous. If u contract me to hunt a close friend of mine i will tell u i cant hunt him but he wont know you contacted me to hunt him.

- What about journalists?

8. If your victim offers you a better deal than your client, are you willing to negotiate?

Its normal actually. My targets don't know the price I'm charging for them, I have already got quite some offers to tell the name of the player that contracted me for them. i have a rule, you are anonymous always and if u wanna get known it's your decision. i got offers from cc to tokens packs (the big ones) to tell names and i didnt. i don't do this for the money itself, i do this to have some fun in the game and to be active. This is why not even the player/s that are hunting with me know the player that contracted me. They only have a profile and the value of their hunts and I'm the only one who knows who signed with us. I take this very seriously.

9. What are the 3 qualities I need to have to become a headhunter?

You definitely need time available to spend, patience and resources to fight and need to be fast also for those last min stealer ones.

10. Please describe some impressions of your last mission.

Nothing to say, a contract is a contract and i just follow what i sign for.

END.

How is your opinion about headhunter services?

In my opinion, I like the concept and I believe that every country or every community should have a service that is unique to them.
Theo, aren't you just producing low-cost advertising?
No, and what's preventing you from establishing your own headhunting service? After all, it's a free market. Strive to be more effective, trustworthy and competent.
Of course, such services provide opportunities for abusers if left unchecked, but that's why we are a community, isn't it? If a community service is offered, it is the duty of the community to establish control mechanisms to ensure transparency.
We cannot allow them to operate in the darkness.

Stay tuned, dear reader, for an article that will shed more light on this.

Thank you for your attention!
