Join the new world

Hello and welcome to the first of two of my Presidential Manifestos! This first part will focus on the domestic side of things.


On Home Affairs

There is a lot of disunity at the moment within the eUK, and I think it's fair to say more often than not the finger is pointed at one group of people or another. Whatever your opinion of their methods, or of any parties methods, every time a group of people are publically slammed it is detrimental to the health of the eUK and isolates those involved. When elected, on day one, I'll get the top 5 party presidents together to discuss the best way of sorting the hostility between parties out, and see if we can get a mutual agreement as to how we handle grievances. I will do the same on the 16th, when the new party presidents are in and again on the 26th when congress is in place to discuss how things have gone between parties. I don't expect everyone to be happy with everything and I don't expect parties to be perfect from then on, but I would like a better method than airing dirty laundry in public.

On to the Ministry...

As you may have read in my announcement article, or if you've read my wiki, you'll see I've spent a lot of my time in eRepublik within the Ministry of Home Affairs including 6 months where I was the Minister. And so, in this area, I have a lot of experience to draw off of and an inkling into what has worked and what hasn't. One of the main features that we has been lacking for a while and something we need to improve is the education department.



One of the most noticeable failures of the month was Red vs. Blue. It started well and on paper was a good idea, but it very quickly fizzled out and it was decided the only way to bring it back was to make jamesw King, resulting in the game ending prematurely and without a trace. Now, the problem was not with Red vs. Blue itself, but how it was ran. The problem with it, I believe, was that you had to play all month before there was any sort of pay-out. The approach I will take this month will firmly go down the pay-out route, it will be a month long extravaganza celebrating the return of Woldy as King after he was cruelly decrowned. There will be a multitude of games to play, quizzes by HRH Woldy and prizes to be won. We have our money back, why not spend some of it on the people who've spent 3 months in foreign countries? It will be a nod back to the golden days where we celebrated the King and we did it in style, bigger is better!

The next thing I'd like to address is new players. Something that was suggested in Talon's manifesto but didn't see fruition was the new players Military Unit ran by the Minister of Home Affairs and is something I'd very much like to implement. The way it will work is simple, through the CP's message, which is displayed when you join the game, new players will be directed to join the MU allowing the Minister to have a list of players to make PMing easier and to make communication easier through the use of the MU shout box so new players within the MU are kept up to date with what games are going on, the latest news and the latest events. Another thing I'd like to revisit is the Library Project. It was something set-up by myself while I was Minister of Home Affairs and it is a compilation of tutorials written by the Ministry of Home Affairs in different articles that are all put together with links to each article. Unfortunately, bar a couple of months, it's become unused and with that it has become outdated despite the fact there's a link to it in every MoHA article. Something I'd do during my term is make it up to date, larger with the inclusion of more tutorials for old and new players and more advertised so that people can see it and find it easily again. I'd like to include a couple of levels to the Library, mainly "Beginners" and "Intermediate", so the Library can cater for new players and older players alike. Though the Library is very central as it only really exists in game, I'd like to copy it to the forums where it can be easily found and to the wiki so that players have the choice of where they want to read it. As ever I'll be supplementing this with daily announcements on the forums and a more condensed article in-game every few days as well as bumping up the output of articles from the MoHA to at least one every three days.

Last but not least, after 3 months without a congress we've built up quite the stockpile of cash in our country's account. While I'm not one to waste, I'd like a lot of the money to go back to those people who paid the tax that built the treasury up. The grant scheme is back up, but it's rather small at the moment. With all our extra cash I'd like to see an expansion to the grants with the re-establishment of loans, land grants and Town Hall grants to increase our economic potential. Citizens shouldn't be punished for the fact we were wiped so it's time to give something back to the people!
