[Beta]My Frerking Domestic & Economics
Betafoxtrot
Hello again eUKers o/
Since I became Minister of Home Afairs while I was in military command over 12 months ago, I realised that the ministry wasn't just for fun and games and that it's absolute main focus should be retention through education. It's the reason I created the Library Project all those months ago and it's what I've been trying to make as widespread and as accessible as I possibly can. While I'm not saying they should do no games and competitions, what needs to be concentrated on is helping new players who join the game. Just take a look at what I've done with the MoHA this month and you'll see that, with mentoring being overhauled and stream lined, players messaged the day they join and other things. Instead of what has been common practice the last couple of months, I will not favour two ministers in Home Affairs. This is because, as people point out all too often, there isn't enough work to make having two Ministers worthwhile. Instead we'll revert to the Minister-Deputy-Department heads-apprentice system that has been proved to work successfully.
Speaking of which, I'll start by talking about the "Interactive eGovernment Website", originally proposed by Jhorlin, being worked on now by Draaglom under Thorrold. Even then, I liked the idea and was very interested in it. Draag has been working on it all month now, and the fruit of his labour is starting to get closer and closer to completion. This is one thing I'd really like to be finished as it will be of great benefit to new players and even older players who don't want to have to trawl through the forums or wikis to be kept up to date. For those of you who don't know of it, it will have API capabilities (unless eRep decides to remove it again) so we can run regular opinion polls and surveys or a census or two more easily and more efficiently. It gives people a chance to have their voices heard with relatively little work their end, making it more attractive to use. It will have links to all the latest government articles, summed up in bullet points that link to the original article, and with the Library Project finished, it will house each guide so new players don't have to go far to find out how to play and any new ones as and when they're released. The Ministry of Home Affairs will be given free reign with these tools, so they can keep it up to date and running, and hopefully stock them with different games, including IRC games like Woldy's weekly trivia quizzes, raffles, current cabinet and MPs and different themed weeks that would be reflected in the site. The other thing it may be used for (subject to the security of it) is a place to house the House of Commons. A place to vote being the obvious use, and places to sign in to the HoC and view the different laws being the maybe not so obvious use. What ever works, there'll always be room to expand and develop as we start really learning how to use the site and what we can do with it. Something I will be carrying on is the release of articles from the eUK Home Office every 48 hours maximum with different types of article. This month we have had The UK Today, which is released every 3 days, and the Library Project where we've been publishing them as and when we can. These will of course be supplemented by daily announcements on the forums from myself.
PTOing is something that regularly comes up, though the last Congress elections went pretty untouched by foreign people trying to gain congress places in the country. All we need is to take what we learnt and what we did the last couple of months and apply them to the following congress election, so that we are again under no threat. Lastly is on the Congress side of things, and I assume some will find this ironic; I will push for change to the current Advisory system. At the moment they accomplish next to nothing, and I feel they can be put to use else where and they don't need an orange name to do that. I will do this by making them more streamlined; only having one advisor for every area we need it (for instance Ecksohh for military things), and will give them more responsibility to do things within the House of Commons. The Citizenship Committee is working well, and will be kept being run by two people from different parties.
Economics
I don't give a frerk about an economic policy. There is none. There's only protectionism, and that's what I'll continue to abide by. No-one can argue with this or do anything different. Anyone blowing smoke up your frerk about anything otherwise is pulling your chain.
Protectionism and a constant strive for opportunities is all that is available to be done. There can be no major shake up without drastic consequences. This is why everyone has always ignored economics in their manifesto's; that or they have gone over it in such a manner as to seem like they care. I won't insult you by pretending to be smart; or pretending that it is some complex machine that only a few understand. It's simple and it's simply managed. The only events that screw up the equilibrium is admin intervention, which no CP can go again.
I will be striving to keep the peg stable, as all CP's intend. I will be engaging in discussions with friendly countries to rent regions, as all CP's intend. I will be continuing to push land grants, as all CP's will intend to do from now on.
Economics, from the eyes of government, is the allow the stable trade of goods. Trade in eRepublic means influence increase in the long term. The more stable we are, the more we are able to adapt to any hickups the admins throw our way.
This is what I can offer. It's what all CP's offer. I, however, offer it without pretense of pretending to be god on earth. I offer it knowing that you understand the role of Government. I offer it as it is; not as what the hype pretends it to be.
As this is the Domestic manifesto I've opened applications!
This month I'll be looking for people for the following positions:
Minister of Defence
Minister of Finance
Minister of Home Affairs
Minister of Foreign Affairs
Minister of Legistive Affairs
Minister of Recruitment
Minister of Work
A new addition to the team will be the Department of Design & Technology who will consist of a few people that will help with the graphical needs of the various ministries and also the technological needs of the government. There'll be no minister in it, just a few helpful people that have volunteered their service. These will not be under the jurisdiction of the Home Affairs team.
To apply, just send a PM to me on forums here with what position you want, your experience and what you'd do if you got the role.
Feel free to PM me or find me on IRC is you have any questions!
Thank you for reading

Moving congressional votes to an egovt website seems like a way of tucking them away from the eyes of the public. I for one like the current forum system. Also, I would note CP does absolutely NOTHING to prevent PTOing or influence congress elections whatsoever, so I don't even know why you mentioned it tbh.
However, I am glad to see you bringing up the issue of advisors, the current system is pretty pointless, and the orange name is even more stupid. Its also nice to see that the citizenship committee will indeed be run by two people from different parties.
Of course, the ultimate goal would be to drop the peg down to 0.001 making RMs even cheaper, however this isn't necessary
What?
What does that mean? The parts Emergy obviously wrote make sense, but what do you mean by that?
Exactly what it says
Why is the ultimate goal a devalued currency?
Gold is the only valuable currency. Basically, Beta wants to make everyone poorer.
Beta, for a second there, I thought you knew what you were talking about
I hope you'll explain how this'll make everyone poorer Dan 😁
1st paragraph didn't say what you would do. Second one was kinda pointless, it's just swapping the forum for the website, whats the point? The CP has no control of PTO's? The finance bit says where we already are financially then just turns silly.
The useful bits could have been shortened into a paragraph
You think we don't have a competitive marketplace? Or currency? 😒
No one is suggesting swapping forums for this website, you'd know if you read it. And a CP should have the eUKs best intrests at heart, if you don't think that a CP should help co-ordinate against a PTO then you're a bit silly.
@Thatcher, I do think we have a competitive market and currency, do you think it's the most competitive though?
Looks like I'll be following Iain out the door if Beta wins
I think for an active population of our size it's as competitive as it will get. Are you comparing our economy to other countries', or?
O-O-O-O'REILLY
O'REILLY AUTO PARTS
About the peg : your ultimate goal is like RL Zimbabwe ? Have banknote of 100 billions and a Q1 bread will cost 25 billions. Only to say : you can be billionaire in less than one day.
I don't want to see eUK like RL Zimbabwe
I think that if the CC does it's job which it is doing effectively atm then there should not be a problem with PTO's and unless the CP is now going to replace the CC with themselves then there is little they do. In the event of a party being PTO'd it is generally up to the members of that party to deal with it.
You are suggesting moving a large chunk across to the website, this would leave you with two options, the first to leave some stuff in the forum and some on the website which is just being awkward for no reason or you follow the logical conclusion which is to move the rest across to the website which is replacing the forum with the website? Which unless the website provided significant advantages over the forum there would be no point.
I think you'll find that I'm not suggesting moving forums across, and it'll be mostly in game things done on it instead.
ITA: Beta can't defend his manifesto.
That didn't answer my point, anyway moving onto my other niggle, why are you suggesting hyper-inflation is a good thing?
>> Of course, the ultimate goal would be to
>> drop the peg down to 0.001 making RMs even
>> cheaper, however this isn't necessary.
I'd also like to know what this is statement is about and why it's attached to the bottom of an economic outlook I did for you a month ago. If we drop the peg to 0.001 (on purpose) all it's going to do is spike wages, spike the marketplace, and reduce everyone's ability to earn gold.
I was hoping for some new program ideas, schemes, or summin' but I don't see them yet.
i hate read it all... voted
😛
"Why are you suggesting it'd be hyper-inflation? The peg would only move by 0.001 anyway."
Because 1gold would cost 10000gbp.
The 18 people who have voted this need to be ashamed of themselves; as do UKRP, for putting forward a candidate who clearly has no idea of what he's doing. this guy is proposing what a PTOer would actually do, and he's making out it's a good thing.
The world will end if Beta wins
At a peg of 0.001, one gold would cost 1000GBP, not 10000.
yup my bad, I'm thinking in 10s
In any case why is this good?
My maths isn't great but is beta working in base -10?
Betafoxtrot is an honest, intelligent and hardworking individual who has been quietly and reliably seving the eUK over a long period of time.
Unlike many other aspiring eUK politicians, he is not a 'shouty person', preferring a quieter and more measured approach.
In my opinion he is one of the least likely people to disappear mid-term, ransack the Bank of England or sell out the country to potential enemies for personal gain.
Also - the rather delicious promise of Iain Keers (and Rednoahl) rage quitting should Betafoxtrot be elected is almost a good enough reason to vote him in!
Betafoxtrot for CP!
CC
Wise man!!
All the pseudo- and wannabe-economists out there:
READ THIS. It´s as simple as that.
"I don't give a frerk about an economic policy. There is none. There's only protectionism, ..."
"Protectionism and a constant strive for opportunities is all that is available to be done."
First things first - CC, you know I respect you greatly, but Beta is definitely not quiet and measured - during each of my terms, he was one of the 'shoutiest' people out there.
Secondly, this website was not my idea - it had been discussed long before I revived it in May/June, and I think Jan Baykara deserves a lot of the credit for the proposal I made, as he worked on it with me.
Thirdly, why is a 0.001 peg good? We got to the stage this term where 500 GBP bought me 1 gold - that was a sensible level to my mind, and certainly much better for those of us who don't buy gold. Why do you think a higher level is better?
Finally, I don't think it's enough to simply say that you don't care about economic policy - you need to have one. Are you going to just stockpile taxes and not re-release them? Are you going to lower taxes to literally nothing (really, this needs congress to do it)? Even a policy of doing nothing requires some changes to be made - what changes are you going to make Beta?
Believe me, I know these economics are hard to get your head around, but I was lucky and I had Thatcher to help me through them - it's a damn site easier to work it all out before election day.
I didn't even read my own economic manifestos, I don't recall Appleby doing that either, as long as we have income congress can manage the taxes, since most of the people here apparently are brilliant anyway and can propose it, you just have to make sure the money ends up at the correct spot, I'm sure people can live with just that.
Now I know that the peg stuff is Blag taking the mick and Beta's edited his economics part, I can relax a bit. Was going to delete my comments but I'll leave them for posterity even if they no longer make sense.
In the two times there have been a half price company offer by the admins before the last one, there has been a pretty big change to the game afterwards that effects the economy greatly. I think I have every right to be concerned that Beta has no clue about what to do with the economy.
Neither did I, neither did Jhorlin, neither did Appleby, neither did Artela, neither did GGRyan, neither did... Need I continue? As long as they have a competent MoF(And Emergy is more than competent if you ask me) it's fine.
I'd say Thatcher is the better option, and he's running with the other guy.
Frerk you're not DPM yet, don't exhaust all your activity before you even get there!
It's only fine if you are happy with mediocre CPs - and that's a fine list of mediocre CPs right there. All good and likeable people, but what good did they actually do? By the looks of things, you'll be adding Dan to that list of mediocrity too, mores the pity.
The thing with Beta though is he makes mistakes all too frequently. That makes me think that Beta's name will be right next to Sara Droz' in the "useless CP list" should he be elected.
I don't think any CP actually did anything they weren't forced into doing. And by force I mean either militarily, politically, or meta-physically.
JHORLIN WAS A MEDIOCRE CP?!?! What is this?
I dont' see anyone denying it.
To be fair, bar jamesw, Dish and Keers all CPs have been mediocre :3
"To apply, just send a PM to me on forums here with what position you want, your experience and what you'd do if you got the role."
Except positions that someone else has "called" in return for supporting his campaign.
Lol'd so hard.
